Spatial susceptibility variations of body components lead to local gradients of the static magnetic field. Effects of such background gradients on fractional diffusion anisotropy (FA) measurements on whole-body magnetic resonance units operating at 1.5, 3.0 and 7.0 T were analyzed theoretically and experimentally. Analytical expressions were derived for the cases of diffusion occurring in isotropic media and in tissues with cylindrical symmetry (e.g., white matter tracts or skeletal musculature). Typical magnitudes of background gradient strengths were estimated from in vivo and in vitro measurements with B0 field mapping sequences. Additionally, numerical simulations of magnetic field distributions and resulting field gradients were performed considering tissue-air interfaces in simplified geometrical arrangements. For media with isotropic diffusion, both measurements and analytical calculations showed increasing FA inaccuracy with stronger coupling between diffusion-encoding and background gradients. For cylindrical symmetry, FA values were estimated for a standard diffusion tensor imaging protocol in a realistic scenario. At 1 mm distance from a water-air interface, susceptibility-related background gradients amount to approximately 9 mT/m at 7 T and lead to a relative error of the measured FA of up to 48%. The error in the anisotropy assessment rises considerably with increasing field strength and must be taken into account especially for experimental and clinical studies on modern high-field systems. 相似文献

Merging the characteristics of thermoresponsive and stimuli-degradable polymers yields so-called transiently thermoresponsive polymers, which can find application for the design of injectable gels, nanoparticles, etc. within a biomedical context. Among these polymers, only a limited number is reported which shows selective degradation under mild acidic conditions. However,extension of the library of transiently thermoresponsive polymers is desired to broadening the biomaterials toolbox to suit specific needs. Three monomers were developed by modification of 2-hydroxyethylacrylamide(HEAm) via tetrahydropyranylation or-furanylation with 3,4-dihydro-2 H-pyran(DHP), 2,3-dihydrofuran(DHF) or 2,3-dihydro-5-methylfuran(MeDHF). The presence of an acetal or ketal bond provided the monomers a pH-dependent hydrolysis behavior ranging from minutes to days. RAFT polymerisation allowed for the construction of homopolymers with temperature responsive behavior and pH-dependent hydrolysis which was strongly influenced by nature of the monomeric repeating units. 相似文献

Modern trends in designing mechatronic systems call for a synergic design of the separated subsystems (mechanic, electronic parts, control modules, etc.) concurring to the overall performance. Following this point of view, this paper presents a control oriented model and a nonlinear control design for a Common Rail injection system. First a model is developed, which is tuned in a virtual simulation environment, representing the injection system in details in a reliable replication of reality. Then a sliding mode control is developed. Both the model of the injection process and of the control law are validated by a virtual detailed simulation environment. In the paper a procedure is described whereby the characterization of isotropic and anisotropic laminae is carried out by full-field measurement of the surface rotations under proper flexural loads. The analytic formulation does not necessarily imply a numerical calibration and the elastic constants are determined by integrating the whole experimental data on the surface of the specimen. Measurements were carried out by phase-stepped speckle interferometry using a shearometer based on Michelson design.
