Chemistry of organosilicon compounds 118. Novel ring contraction reaction of (η4-1,2-disilacyclohexadiene)iron tricarbonyls

1,1,2,2-Dimethyl-3,6-diphenyl-1,2-disilacyclohexadiene reacts with iron pentacarbonyl or diiron nonacarbonyl to give the corresponding (diene)iron tricarbonyl complex which undergoes novel ring contraction reaction to (η⁴-1,1-dimethyl-2,5-diphenyl-1-silacyclopentadiene)iron tricarbonyl on thermolysis at 160°C. Similar results were observed with 1,1,2,2-tetramethyl-3,4,5,6-tetraphenyl-1,2-disilacyclohexadiene.     

Isothermal differential scanning calorimetry on an exothermic phenomenon during thermal decomposition of hydromagnesite 4 MgCO3 · Mg(OH)2 · 4 H2O

An exothermic phenomenon and a simultaneous rapid evolution of a small amount of carbon dioxide at ?500°C during thermal decomposition of hydromagnesite 4 MgCO₃ · Mg(OH)₂ · 4 H₂O was studied by isothermal DSCTG in a carbon dioxide atmosphere. It was quantitatively confirmed that the exothermic phenomenon was due to crystallization of MgCO₃ from the amorphous phase and that the evolution of carbon dioxide was due to decomposition of the MgCO₃ by the heat of crystallization (?3.4 kcal mole^?1.     

Novel phenoxyalkylamine derivatives. VII. Synthesis and pharmacological activities of 2-alkoxy-5-[(phenoxyalkylamino)alkyl]benzenesulfonamide derivatives.

To find a novel alpha-blocker with high alpha-blocking selectivity against dopamine D2-receptor affinity, we performed structural modification of the alkylene chains and the substituents on two benzene rings of 2-alkoxy-5-[(phenoxyalkylamino)alkyl]benzenesulfonamide derivatives. The modification of the alkylene chain between the amino moiety in the center of the molecule and the benzene ring (ring A) was found to be the most significant. 5-[2-[[2-(5-Fluoro-2-methoxyphenoxy)ethyl]amino]propyl]-2- methoxybenzenesulfonamide (II-4), which possesses 1-methylethyl as the alkylene chain, exhibited high alpha-blocking selectivity as well as potent alpha-blocking activity.     

Copolymerization of 2-methylene-4-phenyl-1,3-dioxolane with electrophilic vinyl monomers through zwitterionic mechanism

Spontaneous copolymerization of cyclic ketene acetal, 2-methylene-4-phenyl-1,3-dioxolane ( I ) with common electrophilic vinyl monomers, such as methyl α-cyanoacrylate (MCA), acrylonitrile (AN), and methyl methacrylate (MMA) were investigated to further explore zwitterion polymerization method with cyclic ketene acetals. In the reaction of I with MCA and AN, spontaneous copolymerization took place at ambient temperature. The copolymers of I with MCA gave low molecular weight polymers, but copolymers obtained with I and AN were high molecular weight polymers. In the reaction of I and MMA, high molecular weight copolymer was obtained only at temperatures above 80°C. Thus, obtained polymers were not the alternating copolymers and possessed high I content in all the cases. From the above results, macrozwitterionic mechanism was suggested as discussed.     

Senecicannabine,a new pyrrolizidine alkaloid from senecio cannabifolius

The structure of senecicannabine($\text{1}$), a new mcrocyclic pyrrolizidine alkaloid isolated from $\text{Senecio cannabifolius}$, has been established by chemical study and X-ray analysis.     

Ring transformation of 6H-cyclopropa[e]pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine. IV (1). Reduction and reaction of 5a-acetyl-6a-ethoxycarbonyl-5a,6a-dihydro-6H-cyclopropa[e]pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine-3-carbonitriles with primary amines

The reaction of 5a-acetyl-6-ethoxycarbonyl-5a,6a-dihydro-6H-cyclopropa[e]pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine-3-carbonitrile ( 1a ) with benzylamine gave ethyl l-benzyl-5-cyano-8a,9-dihydro-2-methyl-1H-pyrrolo[3,4-e]-pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine-8a-carboxylate ( 2a ), in addition to 5-acetyl-3-benzylamino-1-(4-cyanopyrazol-3-yl)- 2-pyridone ( 3 ). Reaction of 1a with aniline gave ethyl 6-acetyl-8-anilino-3-cyano-7,8-dihydro-4H-pyrazolo-[1,5-a][1,3]diazepine-8-carboxylate ( 4 ), in addition to ethyl 3-cyano-7-methyl-6-pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine-acrylate ( 5 ). On the other hand, the same reactions of 1b with benzylamine or aniline gave 2b or 8b , respectively. Though catalytic hydrogenation of 1a over 5% palladium-carbon proceeded by ring fission of cyclopropane ring to give 9 , 1a (or 1b ) afforded 4,5-dihydro derivatives ( 13 or 15 ) by catalytic hydrogenation over platinum oxide. The reactivity of 5-methoxy-4,5,5a,6a-tetrahydro-6H-cyclopropa[e]pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine ( 16 ), which are related analogs of 1a,b , is also described.
