The determination of sulfite in a flow injection system with chemiluminescence detection

The emission produced by sulfite on oxidation by permanganate in acidic solution in the presence of riboflavin phosphate or brilliant sulfaflavine is used to determine 0.9–35 ng of sulfite. Only sulfide and thiosulfate also give emissions.

Racemic and optically active title compound was reduced with chiral and achiral NAD(P)H models. The composition of diastereomers in the product was determined and the steric relationship is discussed.     

Base-catalyzed homo-brook rearrangement of diastereomeric 7,8- epoxy-7(trimethylsilyl)-6-tridecanols

Semi-quantitative rate measurement of base-catalyzed 1,3-migration of a silyl group from carbon to oxygen (homo-Brook rearrangement) using four diastereomerically pure title compounds revealed that the aptitude for the migration depends markedly on the configurational environment around the trimethylsilyl group of the respective substrate.     

Structure and synthesis of unsaturaded trihydroxy c18 fatty : Acids in rice plants suffering from rice blast disease

Structural elucidation including the absolute configuration was carried out on the trihydroxy C₁₈ -fatty acids isolated from rice plant, Sasanishiki suffered from rice blast disease.     

A new synthetic approach to phenol derivatives: use of ring-closing olefin metathesis

Phenol derivatives, which are one of the most important classes of aromatic compounds in organic chemistry, were synthesized by ruthenium-catalyzed ring-closing olefin metathesis (RCM) of 1,4,7-trien-3-ones with versatile substitution patterns. The RCM reaction for producing phenol derivatives was also successful with 1,5,7-trien-3-one as another precursor. Most of the phenols prepared here could not be obtained easily by conventional methods.     

Dynamical supersymmetry breaking in two-dimensional N = 1 supergravity theories

We investigate a possible dynamical mechanism for spontaneous supersymmetrybreaking in N = 1 supergravity theories in 1 + 1 space-time dimensions. It will be shown that supersymmetry is never broken at the tree level, but it can be broken for a certain class of models by quantum effects due to trace anomalies of the energy-momentum tensor and the supercurrent.     

Structure of phenomenological lagrangians for broken supersymmetry

We consider the explicit connection between linear representations of supersymmetry and the non-linear realizations associated with the generic effective lagrangians of the Volkov-Akulov type. We specify and illustrate a systematic approach for deriving the appropriate phenomenological lagrangian by transforming a pedagogical linear model, in which supersymmetry is broken at the tree level, into its corresponding non-linear lagrangian, in close analogy to the linear σ model of pion dynamics. We discuss the significance and some properties of such phenomenological lagrangians.     

10-Gbit/s Serial Optical Interconnection for an ATM Switch

Serial optical interconnection is proposed for connections in a Torus asynchronous transfer mode switch. A cross-point switch was developed that operates at a bit rate of 20 Gbit/s. The switching operation was successfully performed using cascaded cross-point switches through an optical interconnection configuration consisting of commercial optoelectronics devices. The measured switching rate was 10 Gbit/s, and it was limited by the responses of the optoelectronics devices.
