The interaction between a dc spin-polarized electric current and a magnetic domain wall in a Permalloy nanowire was studied by high-bandwidth scanning Kerr polarimetry. The full functional dependence of wall velocity on electric current and magnetic field is presented. With the pinning potential nulled by a field, current-induced velocity enhancements exceeded 35 m/s at a current density of approximately 6 x 10(11) A/m(2). This large enhancement, more than 10 times that found in pinning-dominated experiments, results in part from an interaction that is nonlinear in current and independent of current direction.  相似文献

This paper represents results on investigating the dynamics of boiling and disintegration of superheated liquid films and jets. The first part deals with experimental study of boiling liquid outflow through short cylindrical and slit channels. Evolution of disintegration of a hot water jet flow is observed both at low and moderate superheating and at high and limit superheating, and also for vaporization mechanisms corresponding to these superheatings. Peculiarities of disintegration of jets through slit and cylindrical channels are noticed. Results on measuring the reactive thrust of the jet through a slit channel under different geometrical conditions behind the channel outlet are represented. The 1/f fluctuations in transient regimes of superheated liquid boiling and in transient regimes of behavior of the jet shape are found. The second part of this article represents results on experimental investigation of nonsteady heat transfer and dynamics of the development of crisis phenomena at boiling of a falling subcooled liquid film in the conditions of stepwise heat release. The experimental data were obtained using synchronized high-speed infrared thermography and video. It is shown that with growth and condensation of vapor bubbles, on the liquid film interface appear large-amplitude waves that lead to considerably increasing local intensity of heat transfer. New data on the boiling incipience temperature in a subcooled liquid film, depending on the heat flux density, are obtained. It is found that the development of boiling crisis is a result of appearance of local dry patches and their subsequent growth by the mechanism of longitudinal thermal conductivity in the heat transfer wall as the equilibrium heat flux density is exceeded.  相似文献

We have used X-ray diffraction to study the structural phase of CeCoIn5 in external pressure. Using high-pressure X-ray diffraction, we find that the crystalline phase is stable in the P4/mmm phase for pressures ≤51.2 GPa. From our measured equation of state, we find a bulk modulus given by B 0 = 72.8 ± 2.9 GPa and a first pressure derivative of B = 5.1 ± 0.3. Measurement of the electrical resistivity of CeCoIn5 to pressures as high as 34.4 GPa shows the existence of a peak in resistivity at p ? = 8.2 ± 0.2 GPa.  相似文献

The effects of substrate surface energy and vapor deposition rate on the initial growth of porous columnar tris(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminum (Alq3) nanostructures were investigated. Alq3 nanostructures thermally evaporated onto as-supplied Si substrates bearing an oxide were observed to form a solid wetting layer, likely caused by an interfacial energy mismatch between the substrate and Alq3. Wetting layer thickness control is important for potential optoelectronic applications. A dramatic decrease in wetting layer thickness was achieved by depositing Alq3 onto alkyltrichlorosilane-derivatized Si/oxide substrates. Similar effects were noted with increasing deposition rates. These two effects enable tailoring of the wetting layer thickness.  相似文献

We have experimentally investigated the interaction of high-power neodymium laser pulses in the intensity range 1013–1014 W/cm2 with flat low-density (0.5–10 mg/cm3) agar-agar targets under conditions of interest for problems of inertial nuclear fusion. Optical and x-ray methods with high temporal and spatial resolution were used to examine the dependence of absorption and scattering of the incident beam on the initial mean density and thickness of the irradiated samples. We show that when a porous target is irradiated, a bulk absorption layer of high-temperature plasma is produced inside the target whose dimensions are determined by the initial density of the material. The time dependence and spectral composition of the harmonics 2ω 0 and 3ω 0/2 observed in the plasma-scattered radiation are measured. A theoretical model is developed that describes the interaction of high-power laser pulses with a porous medium. Predictions of the model, based on the hypothesis of two stages of homogenization of the target material—a fast stage (0.1–0.3 ns) and a slow stage (1–3 ns), are in good agreement with the experimental data. X-ray diffraction studies were carried out on the rare earth metal yttrium up to 177?GPa in a diamond anvil cell at room temperature. Yttrium was compressed to 37% of its initial volume at the highest pressure. The rare earth crystal structure sequence hcp?→?Sm?type?→?dhcp?→?mixed(dhcp?+?fcc)?→?distorted fcc (dfcc) is observed in yttrium below 50?GPa. The dfcc (hR24) phase has been observed to persist in the pressure range of 50-95?GPa. A structural transition from dfcc to a low symmetry phase has been observed in yttrium at 99?±?4?GPa with a volume change of -?2.6%. This low symmetry phase has been identified as a monoclinic C2/m phase, which has also been observed in other rare earth elements under high pressures. The appearance of this low symmetry monoclinic phase in yttrium shows that its electronic structure under extreme conditions resembles that of heavy rare earth metals, with a significant increase in d-band character of the valence electrons and possibly some f-electron states near the Fermi level.  相似文献
