Interaction of hydrogen fluoride with ruthenium tetroxide

In the course of the studies concerning hydrolysis of ruthenium fluorides and fluorination of ruthenium hydroxides, we frequently noticed the formation of a volatile substance which showed a strong absorption band at 1030 cm^?1. We pursued this unknown substance and found that it was an adduct between ruthenium tetroxide and hydrogen fluoride:

This new adduct, RuO₄(HF)₁₀, is observable at temperature higher than 0°C and at HF pressure greater than 150 mmHg. Between 4000 and 200 cm^?1, the adduct shows two absorption bands—1030 cm^?1 and 389 cm^?1. At 0°C, the adduct in the gas-phase disappears for condensation.On the basis of these results, credibility of the earlier literature on RuF₈ was discussed.     

Uranium, thorium and potassium contents and radioactive equilibrium states of the uranium and thorium series nuclides in phosphate rocks and phosphate fertilizers

Uranium, thorium and potassium contents and radioactive equilibrium states of the uranium and thorium series nuclides have been studied for 2 phosphate rocks and 7 phosphate fertilizers. Uranium contents were found to be rather high (39-117 ppm) except for phosphate rock from Kola. The uranium series nuclides were found to be in various equilibration states, which can be grouped into following three categories. Almost in the equilibrium state, 238U approximately 230Th greater than 210Pb greater than 226Ra and 238U greater than 230Th greater than 210Pb greater than 226Ra. Thorium contents were found to be, in general, low and appreciable disequilibrium of the thorium series nuclides was not observed except one sample. Potassium contents were also very low (less than 0.3% K2O) except for complex fertilizers. Based on the present data, discussions were made for the radiation exposure due to phosphate fertilizers.     

The primary fragmentation step of isoxazole upon electron impact. A correlation with photochemistry

Three isomeric compounds, I, II and III, were prepared and their mass spectra recorded. Comparisons of the spectra showed that the fragmentation of I proceeds only by way of II, and that II itself is transformed in part to III upon electron impact. It is suggested that selective ionization of each one of the two isolated functional groups in II may afford two isomeric radical ions, IIa and IIb. A possible interrelation to the photochemistry of these compounds is also discussed.     

Photochemical generation of tetramethyldisilene and photoinduced 1,2-silyl-migration

Described herein is the first clear evidence of the photochemical generation of tetramethyldisilene which can be efficiently trapped by dienes. An intriguing 1,2-photo-induced silyl migration is also reported.     

Chemistry of organosilicon compounds : CXIX. Preparation and some reactions of 1,2-disilacyclobutenes

Two new 1,2-disilacyclobutenes have been prepared by the reaction of tetramethyldisilene with acetylenes. Several reactions of these new 1,2-disilacyclobutenes including oxidation, silylene insertion, iron carbonyl insertion, and addition to acetylenes and dienes are reported.
