Recent progress on time-division multiplexed (TDM) and wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM) soliton transmission is described, in which dispersion management plays an important role in increasing the power margin and the dispersion tolerance. The characteristics of the dispersion-managed soliton are compared with those of return to zero and nonreturn to zero pulses. With a small dispersion swing, the system can still be described as an average soliton using the nonlinear Schrodinger equation, while with a large dispersion swing, the solitonlike steady-state pulse becomes a chirped Gaussian pulse, in which the governing equation is closer to a linear Schrodinger equation with a parabolic potential well. We describe an in-line modulation scheme for up to 80 Gbit/s per channel and its two channel WDM transmission over 10 000 km. Finally, we describe 640 Gbit/s (40 Gbit/sx16 channels) WDM soliton transmission over 1000 km with a dispersion-managed single-mode fiber. (c) 2000 American Institute of Physics.  相似文献

We compare the angle-resolved photoemission spectra of the hole-doped Cu-O chains in PrBa2Cu3O7 (Pr123) and in PrBa2Cu4O8 (Pr124). While, in Pr123, a dispersive feature from the chain takes a band maximum at k(b) (momentum along the chain) approximately pi/4 and loses its spectral weight around the Fermi level, it reaches the Fermi level at k(b) approximately pi/4 in Pr124. Although the chains in Pr123 and Pr124 are approximately 1/4 filled, they show contrasting behaviors: While the chains in Pr123 have an instability to charge ordering, those in Pr124 avoid it and show an interesting spectral feature of a metallic coupled-chain system.  相似文献

Absolute continuity and smoothness of distributions in the nested subclasses ~L m (B), m = 0, 1, 2,..., of the class of all B-decomposable distributions are studied. All invertible matrices are classified into two types in terms of P.V. numbers. The minimum integer m for which all full distributions in ~L m (B) are absolutely continuous and the minimum integer m for which all absolutely continuous distributions in ~L m (B) have the densities of class C r for 0 r are discussed according to the type of the matrix B related to P.V. numbers.  相似文献

We developed a Gd(x)Y(1-x)Ca(4)O(BO(3))(3) (GdYCOB) crystal for control of optical birefringence. GdYCOB crystals were successfully used to generate noncritical phase-matched (NCPM) second and third harmonics of 1064-nm lights. However, we observed degradation of third-harmonic-generation (THG) output power and distortion of the beam pattern as a result of photoinduced damage and thermal dephasing. The photoinduced damage was classified into two types. One was gray-track and the other was photorefractive damage. It seems that these types of damage were similar to the types of damage that occurred with KTiOPO(4) and LiNbO(3) crystals. We tried to circumvent this problem by crystal heating. Photoinduced damage of GdYCOB was overcome by elevation of the crystal temperature, and NCPM THG (355-nm) output power from heated GdYCOB increased to 9 mW (62.5 kHz).  相似文献

The anion-selectivity of the surface of a polymer ultrathin film incorporating an amphiphilic ruthenium(II) polypyridine complex with diperchlorate was examined using X-ray absorption spectroscopy with the total electron-yield method. The adsorbed species on the film surface were found to depend on the chemical composition in water where the film was prepared. By combining the X-ray absorption spectra with a molecular-orbital calculation, the molar ratio (MClO4/MRu) between the ClO4- ions and the Ru head group on the film surface could be semi-quantitatively analyzed; it was 0.88 for a film prepared on fresh water, and 1.4 for one prepared on old water.  相似文献

Reactions of laser-evaporated iron atoms with ethylene molecules were investigated. The reaction products were trapped in a low-temperature matrix observed by Mössbauer and infrared spectroscopies. Fe(C2H4) was produced at low ethylene concentration, and Fe(C2H4)2 was obtained as the major product at higher ethylene concentration. The permutation-inversion group developed by Longuet-Higgins is extended to a classification of the vibronic, torsional, and rotational wavefunctions of a nonrigid X2Y2 molecule by introducing a symmetry operation T?, which rotates the top half of the molecule by 2π and, accordingly, the molecule-fixed x axis by π. Since the energy levels of linear (Dh) and bent (C2h, C2h, and C2) forms of X2Y2 are classified according to a set of common symmetry operations of this extended permutation-inversion group, their energy levels can be correlated, including those of nonrigid forms such as a quasilinear system or a free internal rotor. Nuclear spin weights and selection rules are derived.  相似文献
