Phosphine‐Catalyzed anti‐Carboboration of Alkynoates with 9‐BBN‐Based 1,1‐Diborylalkanes: Synthesis and Use of Multisubstituted γ‐Borylallylboranes

Trialkylphosphine organocatalysis has enabled the regioselective anti‐carboboration of alkynoates with 9‐BBN‐based 1,1‐diborylalkanes to produce secondary allylboranes with β‐alkoxycarbonyl and γ‐boryl substituents. The utility of the densely functionalized allylboranes was demonstrated by the highly diastereoselective allylation of N‐(trimethylsilyl)aldimines to produce homoallylamines containing tertiary allylborane and acrylate moieties.     

Basic evaluation of highly sensitive thyroid stimulating hormone immunoradiometric assay kits

Usefulness of three kinds of TSH kits by immunoradiometric assay (IRMA) was evaluated. They were able to measure low levels (less than 0.1 microIU/ml) in serum thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) with incubation of short time (4 hours). In particular, RIABEAD II kit had a highly specific affinity for TSH and the normal range (+/- 2 S.D.) using it showed from 0.20 to 3.50 microIU/ml in 150 normal subjects. In patients with hyperthyroidism and in patients with hypothyroidism, the values of TSH were lower and higher than those of normal subjects, respectively. Another kits showed similar results. These results indicate that these TSH-IRMA kits are useful to evaluate serum TSH levels exactly.     

TUMOR IMAGING WITH [111niIn]MONO-DTPA-ETHYLENEGLYCOL-Ga-DEUTEROPORPHYRIN

Abstract Mono-DPTA-ethyleneglycol-Ga-deuteroporphyrin (MDEGD) was synthesized, by coordinating non-radioactive Ga in the porphyrin ring and connecting DTPA (diethylene-triamine-N,N,N,N,N,-pentaacetic acid) to its side chain. By labeling with 111_In, chemicals for scintigraphy were developed. They were applied to Syrian golden hamsters with implanted pancreatic gland cancers and C57-black mice with Lewis lung cancer to enable tumor imaging and biodistribution examination. A comparative study was also conducted with [⁶⁷Ga]citrate. In the resultant data, [¹¹¹In]MDEGD showed larger tumor/lung, tumor/kidney and tumor/blood ratio with [⁶⁷Ga]citrate. The affinity of [ⁿIn]MDEGD in inflammatory tissue was much lower than that of ⁶⁷Ga citrate. [¹¹¹In]MDEGD lost its photosensitivity.     

Solid-state thiotropolone: an extremely rapid intramolecular proton transfer

Through variable-temperature solution-state NMR and molten- and solid-state CP/MAS (13)C NMR spectra, thiotropolone is found to exist as two rapidly equilibrated tautomeric structures, thione and enethiol, even in the solid state far below the melting point. The crystal structure shows an almost perpendicular packing, suggesting that the intramolecular hydrogen bond is dominant.     

On a Stationary Problem of the Stokes Equation in an Infinite Layer in Sobolev and Besov Spaces

This paper is concerned with the stationary problem of the Stokes equation in an infinite layer and provides a condition on the external force sufficient for the existence of the solution. Since the Poiseuille flow is a solution to the homogeneous equation, the solution is not unique when p = ∞. It is also proved that, under some suitable conditions, solutions to the homogeneous equation are limited only to the Poiseuille flow.     

Lewis acid promoted cyclization of enyne triesters and diesters

Reactions of enynes with three or two ester groups (1-4) in the presence of halogen-ligand Lewis acids gave cyclized products with halide incorporation (5-8) with high generality. The cyclization process was also analyzed in a theoretical study. Facile isomerization and dehydrohalogenation of five-membered products 5 and 8 by Al(2)O(3) or Et(3)N were also observed; this process introduces conjugated moieties into the products.     

Activation cross-sections of longer lived products of proton induced nuclear reactions on cobalt up to 70 MeV

As a part of our series of studies on charged particle induced reactions on various target materials, proton induced excitation functions on natural cobalt have been determined by using the stacked-foil technique. In these measurements the radionuclides ^55,56,57,58Co, ⁵¹Cr, ^52,54,56Mn and ^56,57Ni have been identified. For the above mentioned nuclides the cross-sections were derived from the measured activities and were compared with the literature data and with the results of EMPIRE code calculations and tabulated values in the TENDL 2011 library (based on TALYS code calculations). The agreement with previous measurements and with theoretical values was acceptable.     

Preparation of New Photosensitive ZrO2 Gel Films Using Hydroxyl-Substituted Aromatic Ketones as Chemical Modification Reagents and their Patterning

ZrO₂ gel films were prepared from zirconium tetra-n-butoxide chemically modified with one of hydroxyl-substituted aromatic ketones and 1′-hydroxy-2′-acetonaphthone, by the sol-gel method. The obtained gel film showed an absorption band, characteristic of the π-π* transition of chelate ring, at around 410 nm. The band was shifted to longer wavelength region than those for the gel films using β-diketones. The reason is thought that the hydroxyl-substituted aromatic ketone has π-electron system to form the condensed chelate ring. The absorption band associated with the chelate ring gradually decreased in intensity with UV-irradiation using a high pressure mercury lamp. This indicates that the chelate ring dissociates by the UV-irradiation and that the gel film exhibits photosensitivity. Utilizing the photosensitivity, fine patterns (about 1 μm) could be fabricated by UV-irradiation through a mask and leaching.
