Schur’s lemma states that every Einstein manifold of dimension n?≥ 3 has constant scalar curvature. In this short note we ask to what extent the scalar curvature is constant if the traceless Ricci tensor is assumed to be small rather than identically zero. In particular, we provide an optimal L 2 estimate under suitable assumptions and show that these assumptions cannot be removed.  相似文献

The effect of Cu(I) salt (i.e., CuCN, CuCN.2LiCl, CuI), cuprate reagent, sec-butyllithium quality, solvent, and temperature upon the chemical yields obtained in the reactions of alpha-(N-carbamoyl)alkylcuprates [i.e., N-Boc-protected alpha-aminoalkylcuprates] with (E)1-iodo-1-hexene, 5,5-dimethyl-2-cyclohexenone, methylvinyl ketone, crotonate esters, and an acid chloride has been examined. Cuprate conjugate addition and vinylation reactions can succeed with low-quality sec-butyllithium, presumably containing insoluble lithium hydride and lithium alkoxide impurities, although yields are significantly lower than those obtained with high-quality s-BuLi. alpha-(N-Carbamoyl)alkylcuprates prepared from high-quality sec-butyllithium are thermally stable for 2-3 h at room temperature and are equally effective when prepared from either insoluble CuCN or THF-soluble CuCN.2LiCl. Use of the latter reagent permits rapid cuprate formation at -78 degrees C, thereby avoiding the higher temperatures required for cuprate formation from THF-insoluble CuCN that are problematic with solutions containing thermally unstable alpha-lithiocarbamates.  相似文献

This study focuses on the preparation, polymerization, characterization, and optical properties of a new bis‐(4‐trifluoromethanesulfonyloxyphenyl)phenylamine monomer. This is the first nitrogen‐containing monomer having nitrogen atoms as bridges between phenyl rings, and it was synthesized in three steps. The polymerization was carried out through the Ni(0)‐catalyzed homocoupling reaction of the bis‐(4‐trifluoromethanesulfonyloxyphenyl)phenylamine compound. The resulting polymer, polybis(paraphenyl)phenylamine, emitted an intense blue color (where λ = 415 nm) upon irradiation by ultraviolet light. The photoluminescence quantum yield was found to be 36% with a long excited‐state lifetime of 3.3 ns. Electrical conductivity data for an HCl‐doped film of the polymer were also examined. It has long been evident that plant (15)N chiefly reflects the processes which fractionate (15)N/(14)N rather than the (15)N of plant N source(s). It has emerged recently that one of the most important fractionating processes contributing to the whole plant (15)N is the presence/absence, type or species of mycorrhiza, especially when interacting with nutrient deficiency. Ecto- and ericoid mycorrhizas are frequently associated with (15)N-depleted foliar (15)N, commonly as low as -12 per thousand. As shown by the present study, plants having no mycorrhiza, or those infected with various species of arbuscular mycorrhiza (AM)-forming fungi, interact with varying concentrations of soil nitrogen [N] and moisture to enrich plant (15)N by as much as 3.5 per thousand. Hence the lack of a mycorrhiza, or variation in the species of AM-forming fungal associations, can account for about 25% of the usually reported variations of foliar (15)N found in field situations and do so by (15)N enrichment rather than depletion. Interest in CBG (cannabigerol) has been growing in the past few years, due to its anti-inflammatory properties and other therapeutic benefits. Here we report the synthesis of three new CBG derivatives (HUM-223, HUM-233 and HUM-234) and show them to possess anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. In addition, unlike CBG, HUM-234 also prevents obesity in mice fed a high-fat diet (HFD). The metabolic state of the treated mice on HFD is significantly better than that of vehicle-treated mice, and their liver slices show significantly less steatosis than untreated HFD or CBG-treated ones from HFD mice. We believe that HUM-223, HUM-233 and HUM-234 have the potential for development as novel drug candidates for the treatment of inflammatory conditions, and in the case of HUM-234, potentially for obesity where there is a huge unmet need.  相似文献

Background  

Mycobacterium bovis BCG vaccine has displayed inconsistent efficacy in different trials conducted in various geographical regions. Nevertheless, it significantly reduces the risk of severe childhood tuberculosis and continues to be used to prevent tuberculosis in many countries. Many studies revealed that efficacy of vaccine wanes with age. Most of the studies were based on in vivo and in vitro responses to tuberculin. With the advent of newer tests such as in vitro interferon-γ assays and identification of potent immunogenic mycobacterial proteins there is a need to corroborate the observations. This study aims at ascertaining the need for a booster at a later age as indicated by in vitro release of IFN-γ while evaluating Ag85A as an antigen.  相似文献

Resveratrol (RVS) is a naturally occurring antioxidant, able to display an array of biological activities. In the present investigation, a new derivative of RVS, RVS(a), was synthesized, and its biological activity was determined on U937 cells. It was observed that RVS(a) showed pronounced activity on U937 cells than RVS. RVS(a) is able to induce apoptosis in tumor cell lines through subsequent DNA fragmentation. From the EMSA results, it was evident that RVS(a) was able to suppress the activity of NFkB by interfering its DNA binding ability. Furthermore, the molecular interaction analysis (docking and dynamics) stated that RVS(a) has strong association with the IkB-alpha site of NFkB compared with RVS; this binding nature of RVS(a) might be prevent the NFkB binding ability with DNA. The present findings represent the potential activity of propynyl RVS on U937 cells and signifying it as a one of putative chemotherapeutic drugs against cancer.  相似文献
