The breathing mechanism of a transversely cracked rotor and its influence on a rotor system that appears due to the shaft weight is studied. This breathing mechanism is based on experimental and simulation result for the crack shape reported in the literature. If the crack depth is small, the crack closure line is a straight line while for larger crack depths the crack closure becomes more curved. For both cases, a method is proposed for the evaluation of the stiffness losses in the cross section that contains the crack. This method is based on a cohesive zone model (CZM) instead of linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM) approach, because LEFM is valid only for the fully open crack and cannot be extended to other intermediate situations. As the crack is closed, the stress intensity factor (SIF) will not appear at the boundary between the closed cracked areas and the open cracked areas. The CZM is developed for mode-I plane strain conditions and accounts explicitly for triaxiality of the stress state by using constitutive relations. The proposed model gives more realistic results than models based on LEFM for the stiffness losses of the crack rotor system for a wide range of the crack depth. (© 2011 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Time-resolved coherent anti-Stokes Raman-scattering (CARS) measurements are carried out to study the interaction between xenon atom and iodine molecule in a solid krypton matrix. Interference between the CARS polarizations of the "free" and complexed iodine molecules is observed, while the quantum beats of the complex are not detected due to low concentration. Vibrational analysis based on the polarization beats yields accurate molecular constants for the I2-Xe complex. The harmonic frequency of the I2-Xe complex is found to be redshifted by 0.90 cm-1 when compared to the free I2, whereas the anharmonicity is approximately the same. The dephasing rate of the complex is found to be somewhat higher than that of the free iodine molecule in solid Kr, showing that the complexation affects dephasing, although not dramatically. Molecular dynamics simulations are carried out to find the conformation of the complex, and wave packet simulations are used to reproduce the CARS signal to confirm the assignments of the observed beatings as quantum and polarization beats. The results show that the polarization beats are a useful tool for investigating weak interactions in condensed phase.  相似文献

Classical fitting-attitude analyses understand value in terms of its being fitting, or more generally, there being a reason to favour the bearer of value. Recently, such analyses have been interpreted as referring to two reason-notions rather than to only one. The idea is that the properties of the object provide reason not only for a certain kind of favouring(s) vis-à-vis the object, but the very same properties should also figure in the intentional content of the favouring; the agent should favour the object on account of those properties that provide reason for favouring the object in the first place. While this expansion of the original proposal might seem intuitive given that favourings are discerning attitudes, it is nonetheless argued that proponents of the fitting-attitude analysis are in fact not served by such an expansion of the classical analysis. The objections raised here are relevant not only for advocates and critics of fitting-attitude analyses, but for anyone interested in the relation between normative reasons and motivation.  相似文献

Innovation is more imperative now than ever before given the upcoming shortage in prepared teachers and the need to produce students with a strong knowledge of mathematics. A sense of urgency is impacting teacher education/preparation programs as instructional practices need to discover how to arm teachers to increase the number of students to be not only college-ready but also desiring to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics majors. As such, the purpose of this study, was to determine how the four variables (mindfulness, mathematics anxiety, self-efficacy, and mindset) are interconnected within preservice elementary teachers (PSETs), and how we as teacher educators can better address these variables within our own PSETs. Each semester included three seminars with similar overall foci including the four variables. Participants in this study were recruited from Elementary Education students at an east south central regional university enrolled in a mathematics methods course. Thirty-seven participants were divided into control (N = 20) and treatment (N = 17). In this article, we present both qualitative and quantitative results from our mixed-methods study that considered these questions. With the results of this study revealing an inter-connectedness among the four variables, this research further informs the teacher educator community.  相似文献

A vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) was used to study the absorption spectrum of water vapor in the 940nm region. Measurements were performed in ambient air at room temperature and in a hydrogen-oxygen flame over the temperature range of 1500-1800K. Several rotational absorption lines within the 2v1 + v3 vibrational band were measured. The absorption spectra were well resolved, which demonstrates the feasibility of VCSEL-based spectroscopic measurements of water vapor at room and high-temperature in this spectral region. The results were in good agreement with the values obtained from the HITRAN-96 database.  相似文献

Polyion complexes (PICs) of anionic block copolymer poly(ethylene oxide)-block-poly(sodium methacrylate), PEO-block-(PMA)Na, and a cationic homopolymer, poly((methacryloyloxyethyl)trimethylammonium chloride), PMOTAC, have been studied by fluorescence spectroscopy. Pyrene and naphthalene singly labeled block copolymers were used with two different sodium methacrylate block lengths. The chain exchange between the stoichiometric PICs at the equilibrium state and the formation of the negatively charged PICs on addition of excess PEO-block-(PMA)Na to stoichiometric PIC solution were of interest. The chain exchange between the stoichiometric complexes was observed to occur via two mechanisms. The faster chain exchange occurs via insertion and expulsion of single chains, while merging and splitting of the PIC particles is behind the slower chain exchange event. Incorporation of an excess amount of the guest polyion into a stoichiometric PIC took place on further addition of the PEO-block-(PMA)Na. The same mechanisms were recognized in the overcharging process of the PICs as in the chain exchange between the stoichiometric PICs.  相似文献

A preparatively easy and efficient protocol for the resolution of racemic 2-aminocyclohexanol derivatives is described, delivering both enantiomers with >99% enantiomeric excess (ee) by sequential use of (R)- and (S)-mandelic acid. A simple aqueous workup procedure permits the isolation of the amino alcohols in analytically pure form and the almost quantitative recovery of mandelic acid. Debenzylation of enantiopure trans-2-(N-benzyl)amino-1-cyclohexanol by hydrogenation and subsequent derivatization give access to a broad variety of diversely substituted derivatives. Furthermore, the corresponding cis isomers are readily available. Applications of these optically active aminocyclohexanols in catalyzed asymmetric phenyl transfer reactions to benzaldehydes and transfer hydrogenations of aryl ketones lead to products with up to 96% ee.  相似文献
