Aflatoxins are mycotoxins produced as secondary fungal metabolites. Among them, aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) stands out due to its genotoxic and mutagenic potential, being a potent initiator of carcinogenesis. In this review, the outcomes from the published literature in the past 10 years on the effects of AFB1 pathophysiological mechanisms on embryological and fetal development are discussed. In several animal species, including humans, AFB1 has a teratogenic effect, resulting in bone malformations, visceral anomalies, lesions in several organs, and behavioral and reproductive changes, in addition to low birth weight. The mutagenic capacity of AFB1 in prenatal life is greater than in adults, indicating that when exposure occurs in the womb, the risk of the development of neoplasms is higher. Studies conducted in humans indicate that the exposure to this mycotoxin during pregnancy is associated with low birth weight, decreased head circumference, and DNA hypermethylation. However, as the actual impacts on humans are still unclear, the importance of this issue cannot be overemphasized and studies on the matter are essential. 相似文献

Proton transfer reactions were studied in all titratable pairs of amino acid side chains where, under physiologically reasonable conditions, one amino acid may function as a donor and the other one as an acceptor. Energy barriers for shifting the proton from donor to acceptor atom were calculated by electronic structure methods at the MP2/6-31++G(d,p) level, and the well-known double-well potentials were characterized. The energy difference between both minima can be expressed by a parabola using as argument the donor-acceptor distance R(DA). In this work, the fit parameters of the quadratic expression are determined for each donor-acceptor pair. Moreover, it was found previously that the energy barriers of the reactions can be expressed by an analytical expression depending on the distance between donor and acceptor and the energy difference between donor and acceptor bound states. The validity of this approach is supported by the extensive new data set. This new parameterization of proton transfer barriers between titratable amino acid side chains allows us to very efficiently estimate proton transfer probabilities in molecular modelling studies or during classical molecular dynamics simulation of biomolecular systems. 相似文献

Noncomputability,unpredictability, undecidability,and unsolvability in economic and finance theories
We outline, briefly, the role that issues of the nexus between noncomputability and unpredictability, on the one hand, and between undecidability and unsolvability, on the other hand, have played in Computable Economics (CE). The mathematical underpinnings of CE are provided by (classical) recursion theory, varieties of computable and constructive analysis and aspects of combinatorial optimization. In this paper we show that, if G is a Berge graph such that neither G nor its complement
contains certain induced subgraphs, named proper wheels and long prisms, then either G is a basic perfect graph( a bipartite graph, a line graph of a bipartite graph or the complement of such graphs) or it has
a skew partition that cannot occur in a minimally imperfect graph. This structural result implies that G is perfect.

Copolymerization of styrene with (Z)-1,3-pentadiene affords copolymers mostly containing 1,2 pentadiene units. Both the styrene and the pentadiene units are in syndiotactic arrangement but the comonomer sequence distribution is far from bernoullian. Interestingly, the behavior of (Z)-1,3-pentadiene does not change much when polymerization temperature raises from −20 to +20°C, notwithstanding that (Z)-1,3-pentadiene affords a 1,2-syndiotactic homopolymer at −20°C but a prevailingly 1,4 cis homopolymer at +20°C. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Solution-grown crystals of fractions of isotactic polypropylene (IPP) with different degrees of stereoregularity have been obtained by isothermal crystallization from α-chloronaphthalene, using a self-seeding technique. Electron micrographs of samples, crystallized under the same undercooling, show that, with decreasing fraction of isotactic pentads, the perfect rectangular shape of the single crystal is lost and the presence of more complex morphologies is increasingly observed. The equilibrium dissolution temperature Td of IPP fractions, from polymers prepared with a titanium based catalyst, decreases linearly with decreasing percentage of isotactic pentads. An extrapolated value of 171°C is obtained for the equilibrium dissolution temperature of a crystal of IPP with 100% isotactic pentads, i.e., an IPP crystal free of configurational defects. The melting temperature T′m and the apparent enthalpy of fusion ΔH of crystallized and annealed crystal aggregates have been determined by differential calorimetry. The equilibrium melting temperature Tm also depends greatly upon the isotactic pentad concentration. For 100% concentration the extrapolated value of Tm is 181°C. Tm decreases about 1°C per 1% decrease in the isotactic pentad population. The observed equilibrium melting and dissolution temperature depression does not follow the predictions of the Flory equation for copolymer crystallization. In fact, the effect of decreasing probability of isotactic sequence propagation is to depress Td and Tm much more rapidly. The apparent enthalpy of fusion of both solution-grown crystals and melt-recrystallized samples decreases with an increase in the number of configurational impurities along the chain. For the most stereoregular fraction the average length of isotactic stereoblocks has been compared with the lamellar thickness of solution-grown lath-shaped single crystals. 相似文献

We measure the influence of different time-scales on the intraday dynamics of financial markets. This is obtained by decomposing financial time series into simple oscillations associated with distinct time-scales. We propose two new time-varying measures of complexity: 1) an amplitude scaling exponent and 2) an entropy-like measure. We apply these measures to intraday, 30-second sampled prices of various stock market indices. Our results reveal intraday trends where different time-horizons contribute with variable relative amplitudes over the course of the trading day. Our findings indicate that the time series we analysed have a non-stationary multifractal nature with predominantly persistent behaviour at the middle of the trading session and anti-persistent behaviour at the opening and at the closing of the session. We demonstrate that these patterns are statistically significant, robust, reproducible and characteristic of each stock market. We argue that any modelling, analytics or trading strategy must take into account these non-stationary intraday scaling patterns. 相似文献

This paper contributes to the theory of cutting planes for mixed integer linear programs (MILPs). Minimal valid inequalities are well understood for a relaxation of an MILP in tableau form where all the nonbasic variables are continuous; they are derived using the gauge function of maximal lattice-free convex sets. In this paper we study lifting functions for the nonbasic integer variables starting from such minimal valid inequalities. We characterize precisely when the lifted coefficient is equal to the coefficient of the corresponding continuous variable in every minimal lifting (This result first appeared in the proceedings of IPCO 2010). The answer is a nonconvex region that can be obtained as a finite union of convex polyhedra. We then establish a necessary and sufficient condition for the uniqueness of the lifting function. 相似文献
