A new supramolecular system, consisting of an expanded porphyrin, cyclo[8]pyrrole (C8) and a pyrene carboxylate (Py) is capable not only of electron transfer upon photoexcitation, but results in "umpolung" or a reversal of the predicted charge-separation behavior in that the higher energy radical ion pair, C8.+-Py.- (2.58 eV) is formed as opposed to C8.--Py.+ (1.31 eV). This observation is rationalized in terms of the latter radical ion pair, C8.--Py.+ being in the Marcus inverted region. Transient absorption spectral studies reveal a charge-separated lifetime of 300 micros, which decays to the triplet state of cyclo[8]pyrrole, also an exceedingly long-lived species. The novel features of this noncovalent dyad highlight the potential utility of anion binding in the construction of supramolecular electron transfer systems.  相似文献

We succeeded in establishing for the first time a conclusive spectroscopic signature for reduced single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNT), which evolves from electron donor-acceptor interactions between SWNT and electron-donating pi-extended tetrathiafulvalene (exTTF). In particular, pi-pi interactions were employed to anchor the electron donor to the surface of SWNT. New conduction band electrons, injected from photoexcited exTTF, shift the transitions that are associated with the van Hove singularities to lower energies.  相似文献

The three-dimensional structure of polymer-stabilized blue phase with the order of optical wavelength was nondestructively investigated by a confocal laser scanning microscope. The periodical patterns corresponding to the bcc lattice were observed not only on the surface but also in the internal region. In this review, novel microsystems and microdevices to measure gaseous species for environmental analysis and medical diagnostics are described. Miniaturization of analyzers makes field measurements affordable. As well, high sensitivity and good time resolution can be achieved by miniaturization. Some such devices have already been successfully applied to real environmental analyses. Mobile monitoring is available with the use of micro gas analyzers to investigate the natural environment, air pollution and to detect nerve or explosive gases released accidentally or through terrorist activities. Miniature devices are also attractive for medical analyses. Gases produced from the human body reflect gases contained in the blood and certain metabolic conditions. Noninvasive monitoring using miniature devices is available in hospitals and in a patient's home. Many investigations have been conducted using wet and dry chemistry methods for both applications. Instruments employing wet chemistries, which comprise liquid droplets, liquid film, miniature diffusion scrubbers, and microfluidic devices have been studied. Among the instruments using dry methods, miniature samplers, portable gas chromatographs, and microfabricated gas chromatographs have all been investigated. These instruments are expected to usher in a new era of environmental monitoring and will find uses in many medical applications.  相似文献

Ruthenium(II)-pterin complexes were prepared using tetradentate and tripodal tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine (TPA) and tris(5-methyl-2-pyridylmethyl)amine (5-Me3-TPA) as auxiliary ligands together with 2-(N,N-dimethyl)-6,7-dimethylpterin (Hdmdmp) and 6,7-dimethylpterin (Hdmp) as pterin derivatives for ligands. Characterization was made by spectroscopic methods, X-ray crystallography, and electrochemical measurements. The pterin ligands coordinated to the ruthenium centers as monoanionic bidentate ligands via the 4-oxygen of the pyrimidinone moiety and the 5-nitrogen of the pyrazine parts. The striking feature is that the coordinated dmp- ligand exhibits a quinonoid structure rather than a deprotonated biopterin structure, showing a short C-N bond length for the 2-amino group. Those complexes exhibit reversible two-step protonation for both pterin derivatives coordinated to the ruthenium centers to give a drastic spectral change in the UV-vis spectroscopy. Doubly protonated Ru(II)-pterin complexes were stabilized by pi-back-bonding interaction and exhibited clear and reversible proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET) to give ruthenium-coordinated neutral monohydropterin radicals as intermediates of PCET processes. Those ESR spectra indicate that the unpaired electron delocalizes onto the PCET region (N5-C6-C7-N8) of the pyrazine moiety.  相似文献

A series of stable free-base, Zn(II) and Pd(II) bacteriochlorins containing a fused six- or five-member diketo- or imide ring have been synthesized as good candidates for photodynamic therapy sensitizers, and their electrochemical, photophysical, and photochemical properties were examined. Photoexcitation of the palladium bacteriochlorin affords the triplet excited state without fluorescence emission, resulting in formation of singlet oxygen with a high quantum yield due to the heavy atom effect of palladium. Electrochemical studies revealed that the zinc bacteriochlorin has the smallest HOMO-LUMO gap of the investigated compounds, and this value is significantly lower than the triplet excited-state energy of the compound in benzonitrile. Such a small HOMO-LUMO gap of the zinc bacteriochlorin enables intermolecular photoinduced electron transfer from the triplet excited state to the ground state to produce both the radical cation and the radical anion. The radical anion thus produced can transfer an electron to molecular oxygen to produce superoxide anion which was detected by electron spin resonance. The same photosensitizer can also act as an efficient singlet oxygen generator. Thus, the same zinc bacteriochlorin can function as a sensitizer with a dual role in that it produces both singlet oxygen and superoxide anion in an aprotic solvent (benzonitrile).  相似文献

Evidences of an intramolecular exciplex intermediate in a photoinduced electron transfer (ET) reaction of double-linked free-base and zinc phthalocyanine-C60 dyads were found. This was the first time for a dyad with phthalocyanine donor. Excitation of the phthalocyanine moiety of the dyads results in rapid ET from phthalocyanine to fullerene via an exciplex state in both polar and nonpolar solvents. Relaxation of the charge-separated (CS) state Pc(*+)-C60(*-) in a polar solvent occurs directly to the ground state in 30-70 ps. In a nonpolar solvent, roughly 20% of the molecules undergo transition from the CS state to phthalocyanine triplet state (3)Pc*-C60 before relaxation to the ground state. Formation of the CS state was confirmed with electron spin resonance measurements at low temperature in both polar and nonpolar solvent. Reaction schemes for the photoinduced ET reactions of the dyads were completed with rate constants obtained from the time-resolved absorption and emission measurements and with state energies obtained from the fluorescence, phosphorescence, and voltammetric measurements.  相似文献

Pacman-type face-to-face zinc-porphyrin-fullerene dyads have been newly synthesized and studied. Owing to the close proximity of the donor and acceptor entities, strong pi-pi intramolecular interactions between the porphyrin and fullerene entities resulted in modulating the spectral and electrochemical properties of the dyads. New absorption and emission bands that correspond to the charge-transfer interactions were observed in the near-IR region. Time-resolved transient absorption studies revealed efficient photoinduced electron transfer from the singlet excited porphyrin to the fullerene entity. The rate constants for photoinduced electron transfer are analyzed in terms of the Marcus theory of electron transfer, which afforded a large electron coupling matrix element (V=140 cm(-1)) for the face-to-face dyads. As a consequence of the large charge-recombination driving force in the Marcus inverted region, a relatively long lifetime of the charge-separated state has been achieved.  相似文献
