Fourier transform infrared investigations of phosphate-silicate coatings on iron

The influence of silica addition and of the annealing on the structure and properties of phosphate coatings are investigated. It has been observed that silica stabilizes phosphates and reduces the transport of iron towards the surface.     

Use of zirconium and ruthenium isotope correlations in the analysis of spent nuclear fuels

An approach is proposed to use the isotope ratios⁹³Zr/⁹⁶Zr,⁹¹Zr/⁹⁶Zr and¹⁰¹Ru/¹⁰⁴Ru for the determination of plutonium contriubtion to the total burnup of a spent nuclear reactor fuel of low initial enrichment in²³⁵U (3.6%). This approach was verified by determining the total burnup of the fuel from the¹³⁷Cs and¹⁴⁸Nd monitors and subtracting the partial burnup due to²³⁵U from the value obtained.     

A new space-time model for hadron-nucleus collisons at high energies

A new space-time model for hadron-nucleus collisions is proposed, where particles at the instant of creation are not only immature but their maturity rate is enhanced in the presence of other hadronic matter, as in a nucleus. With only one free parameter, the model can explain dn_A^p/dν, dn_A^π/dν, R_A^p(E_L), and the A-dependences of σ_in^pA and σ_in^πA.     

Diffractive dissociation and the early KNO scaling

The assumption of asymptotic validity of early KNO scaling combined with the existence of diffraction is shown to result in strong restrictions on the asymptotic multiplicity distributions.     

Electron spin resonance spectroscopy of copper(II) complexes with schiff bases as ligands

The ESR spectra of a series of Cu^II Schiff base complexes have been investigated in liquid and frozen solutions. The structures of these complexes are estimated on the basis of superhyperfine interactions and molecular orbital coefficients α² and β²₁ calculated from copper hyperfine parameters.     

Problems related to the optimum separation conditions in liquid adsorption chromatography

Summary Relationships derived from the thermodynamic formulation of TLC with a binary mobile phase are discussed. The adsorption equilibrium constant is determined from the linear form of a basic equation considering the adsorption process. This linear relationship is examined with help of TLC data obtained by using six different chromatographic systems. The adsorption equilibrium constant obtained from the TLC data is compared to the equilibrium constant determined from adsorption measurements. Model-potential oscillator strengths for 4fn6s2–4fn6s6p transitions in Sm(I), Eu(I), Dy(I), Er(I) and Yb(I)

The 4fⁿ6s²?4fⁿ6s6p transitions are studied for neutral samarium, europium, dysprosium, erbium, and ytterbium. Four different couplings between the valence electrons and the 4fⁿ shell are considered, three are based on the LS and one on the J_IJ_II scheme. The radial integrals are computed with the model-potential method, which includes both exchange and core polarization. The results are compared with those obtained by employing the Coulomb approximation and the ab initio Hartree + Exchange (HX) approach, as well as with available experimental data. The core-polarization influence on oscillator strengths for these transitions is also investigated.     

The mechanics of an affinely-rigid body

The mechanics of an affinely-rigid body is investigated on both the classical and the quantum level. An affinely-rigid body is defined as a system of material points or a continuous medium in which all affine relations are frozen. Our treatment is based on the general theory of systems with closed teleparallelisms, presented in Section 2 of this paper.
