We present a practical and accurate technique for retrieving the amplitude and the phase of ultrashort pulses from a nonlinear (second-order) intensity cross correlation and the spectrum that overcomes shortcomings of previous attempts. From the observation of double resonance effects on the microwave spectrum two coincidences between 9.4 μm CO2 laser lines and infrared transitions of the ν6 → (ν6 + ν1) band of CF379Br have been determined: R(30) laser line coincident with qR2(7), F = 17/2→17/2 transition, R(28) laser line coincident with all four ΔF = 0 hyperfine components of the qQ8(13) transition. In both cases other infrared transitions lay within the tuning range of the laser. The frequencies of these two laser lines allowed calculations of the band center frequency ν0 = 1083.530 ± 0.001cm?1 and αA = 11.93 ± 0.3MHz, for the ν6 → (ν6 + ν1) band.αB constants were determined for the vibrational states v6, (v6 + v1), v1, and v3.  相似文献

The recent torsional oscillator results of Kim and Chan suggest a supersolid phase transition in solid 4He confined in Vycor. We have used a capacitive technique to directly monitor density changes for helium confined in Vycor at low temperature and have used a piezoelectrically driven diaphragm to study the pressure-induced flow of solid helium into the Vycor pores. Our measurements showed no indication of a mass redistribution in the Vycor that could mimic supersolid decoupling and put an upper limit of about 0.003 microm/s on any pressure-induced supersolid flow in the pores of Vycor.  相似文献

We report on the first radioactive beam experiment performed at the recently commissioned REX-ISOLDE facility at CERN in conjunction with the highly efficient gamma spectrometer MINIBALL. Using 30Mg ions accelerated to an energy of 2.25 MeV/u together with a thin (nat)Ni target, Coulomb excitation of the first excited 2+ states of the projectile and target nuclei well below the Coulomb barrier was observed. From the measured relative deexcitation gamma-ray yields the B(E2;0(+)gs-->2(+)1) value of 30Mg was determined to be 241(31)e2 fm4. Our result is lower than values obtained at projectile fragmentation facilities using the intermediate-energy Coulomb excitation method, and confirms the theoretical conjecture that the neutron-rich magnesium isotope 30Mg resides outside the "island of inversion."  相似文献

Ultrafast charge carrier dynamics in graphite has been investigated by time-resolved terahertz spectroscopy. Analysis of the transient dielectric function and model calculations show that more than 90% of the initially deposited excitation energy is transferred to a few strongly coupled lattice vibrations within 500 fs. These hot optical phonons also substantially contribute to the striking increase of the Drude relaxation rate observed during the first picosecond after photoexcitation. The subsequent cooling of the hot phonons yields a lifetime estimate of 7 ps for these modes.  相似文献

The dynamics of excitons in individual semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes was studied using time-resolved photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The PL decay from tubes of the same (n,m) type was found to be monoexponential, however, with lifetimes varying between less than 20 and 200 ps from tube to tube. Competition of nonradiative decay of excitons is facilitated by a thermally activated process, most likely a transition to a low-lying optically inactive trap state that is promoted by a low-frequency phonon mode.  相似文献

When a nonvolatile liquid film dewets from a partly compatible liquid substrate, the advancing dewetting front leaves behind droplets formed through a Rayleigh instability mechanism at its rim. We have found that these droplets continue to move in the direction of the dewetting front for extended periods (of order one day) with an initial droplet velocity varying linearly with the droplet size, and a displacement varying logarithmically with time. We attribute this persistent motion to a transient surface tension gradient on the substrate liquid surface trailing the dewetting front.  相似文献
