This paper describes the thermal modelling results for a thin film resistor array which can have applications in infrared scene projection. In this design, the array consists of two parallel rows of resistor elements. A central aluminium busbar which forms a common electrical connection for all resistor elements, also provides thermal isolation between the two rows through thermal connection to the array substrate. It is shown that the thickness of the aluminium busbar of the order of 2 m is sufficient to provide good thermal isolation, thus allowing an increase in the pixel fill factor. 相似文献

Single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) bundles are selectively removed from an aqueous dispersion containing individually suspended carbon nanotubes coated with gum Arabic via interfacial trapping. The suspensions are characterized with absorbance, fluorescence, and Raman spectroscopy as well as atomic force microscopy (AFM) and rheology. The resulting aqueous suspensions have better dispersion quality after interfacial trapping and can be further improved by altering the processing conditions. A two-step extraction process offers a simple and fast approach to preparing high-quality dispersions of individual SWNTs comparable to ultracentrifugation. Partitioning of SWNTs to the liquid-liquid interface is described by free energy changes. SWNT bundles prefer to reside at the interface over individually suspended SWNTs because of greater free energy changes. 相似文献

A novel two-step synthesis of substituted 2-formylpyrroles is described. Aldol adducts of ketones and 4-formyloxazole undergo a dehydration/oxazole hydrolysis/cyclization cascade on sequential treatment with MsCl/Et3N and aqueous NaOH to yield 5-substituted and 4,5-disubstituted 2-formylpyrroles. Nitric oxide is a diatomic gas that has traditionally been viewed, particularly in the context of chemical fields, as a toxic, pungent gas that is the product of ammonia oxidation. However, nitric oxide has been associated with many biological roles including cell signaling, macrophage cytotoxicity, and vasodilation. More recently, a model for nitric oxide trafficking has been proposed where nitric oxide is regulated in the form of dinitrosyl-dithiol-iron-complexes, which are much less toxic and have a significantly greater half-life than free nitric oxide. Our laboratory has previously examined this hypothesis in tumor cells and has demonstrated that dinitrosyl-dithiol-iron-complexes are transported and stored by multi-drug resistance-related protein 1 and glutathione-S-transferase P1. A crystal structure of a dinitrosyl-dithiol-iron complex with glutathione-S-transferase P1 has been solved that demonstrates that a tyrosine residue in glutathione-S-transferase P1 is responsible for binding dinitrosyl-dithiol-iron-complexes. Considering the roles of nitric oxide in vasodilation and many other processes, a physiological model of nitric oxide transport and storage would be valuable in understanding nitric oxide physiology and pathophysiology. 相似文献

Rapid prototyping manufacturing methods such as stereo-lithography, fused deposition modelling, enable real parts to be produced very quickly from CAD models but because the parts are produced in materials which are different from the final component, these cannot readily be used for assessing structural integrity. Electronic speckle pattern interferometry (ESPI) enables full-field measurement of surface displacements, both static and dynamic to be made rapidly. This paper proposes the use of these two techniques together to enable the response of parts to static and dynamic loading to be assessed early on in the design process. It should be possible to make a qualitative assessment by observing the form of the deformation or vibration pattern produced and it may also be possible to make quantitative measurement by developing suitable scaling methods. A new technique has been used to search for solar axions using a single crystal germanium detector. It exploits the coherent conversion of axions into photons when their angle of incidence satisfies a Bragg condition with a crystalline plane. The analysis of approximately 1.94 kg.yr of data from the 1 kg DEMOS detector in Sierra Grande, Argentina, yields a new laboratory bound on axion-photon coupling of gαγγ < 2.7 × 10−9GeV−1, independent of axion mass up to 1 keV. 相似文献

The partitioning of a hydrophobic hexapeptide, N‐acetyl‐tryptophan‐pentaleucine (AcWL5), into self‐associated β‐sheets within a vesicle membrane was studied as a model for integral membrane protein folding and insertion via vibrational and electronic spectroscopy. Ultraviolet resonance Raman spectroscopy allows selective examination of the structures of amino acid side chains and the peptide backbone and provides information about local environment and molecular conformation. The secondary structure of AcWL5 within a vesicle membrane was investigated using 207.5‐nm excitation and found to consist of β‐sheets, in agreement with previous studies. The β‐sheet peptide shows enhanced Raman scattering cross‐sections for all amide modes as well as extensive hydrogen‐bonding networks. Tryptophan vibrational structure was probed using 230‐nm excitation. Increases in Raman cross‐sections of tryptophan modes W1, W3, W7, W10, W16, W17, and W18 of membrane‐incorporated AcWL5 are primarily attributed to greater resonance enhancement with the Bb electronic transition. The W17 mode, however, undergoes a much greater enhancement than is expected for a simple resonance effect, and this observation is discussed in terms of hydrogen bonding of the indole ring in a hydrophobic environment. The observed tryptophan mode frequencies and intensities overall support a hydrophobic environment for the indole ring within a vesicle, and these results have implications for the location of tryptophan in membrane protein systems. Thin films of CaF2 co-doped with low concentrations of Eu and Sm ions were grown by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) using a KrF (λ=248 nm) as the ablation source. To the best of our knowledge, the work presented here is the first report of rare-earth-doped CaF2 films grown by PLD with this source. Combined laser excitation-emission spectroscopy was used to map out electronic transitions of Eu3+ with 7F0→5D1 excitation and the 5D0→7F1 emission. At the low concentrations used here the crystal field center of cubic symmetry is dominant in the films that are same for laser targets. However, charge compensated centers are present in the bulk crystal precursor. The removal of the charge compensated centers in the films and the target is likely caused by the target preparation where high pressure and temperature were applied. 相似文献
