The viscoelastic properties of a short carbon-fibre reinforced polycarbonate are studied in the glassy state and in the glass transition region by means of Thermally Stimulated Recovery (TSR) and Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) techniques in the flexural mode. The temperature calibration of the apparatus is discussed. Each thermal sampling experiment is analysed according to a simple Voigt-Kelvin model in which the temperature dependence of the retardation time follows the Arrhenius equation with two adjustable thermokinetic parameters. Non-linear fittings of the experimental data are performed with the corresponding constitutive equation. Both the activation energy and the pre-exponential factor follow the usual trends with temperature and present the well-known compensation phenomena. A divergence between the TSR results of the two materials is found above ± 145°C and may be a result of the effect of the interface. The observed movements in the glassy state which are still found to have a cooperative character are analysed according to the Adam-Gibbs theory. Dynamic-mechanical relaxation properties of the composite are reported and analysed in terms of Takayanagi's block model. 相似文献

In this work, the evolution of the morphology of polypropylene/polystyrene/poly(methyl metacrylate) (PP/PS/PMMA) blends to which graft copolymers polypropylene-graft-polystyrene (PP-g-PS) of 2 compositions (55/45 and 70/30), polypropylene-graft-poly(methyl metacrylate) (PP-g-PMMA), or styrene-block-(ethylene- co-butadiene)-block-styrene (SEBS) was added has been studied. The ternary blends morphologies were predicted using phenomenological models that predict the morphology of ternary blends as a function of the interfacial tension between the blend components (spreading coefficient and free energy minimization). All blends studied presented a core-shell morphology with PS as shell and PMMA as core. The addition of PP-g-PS or SEBS resulted in a reduction of the size of the PS shell phase and, the addition of PP-g-PMMA did not seem to have any effect on the diameter of PMMA. The difference observed between the different morphologies relied on the number of droplets of core within the shell. All the phenomenological models predictions corroborated the experimental results, except when PP-g-PMMA was added to the blend. 相似文献

Ayahuasca is a psychoactive beverage that contains the psychoactive compound N,N-dimethyltryptamine and β-carboline alkaloids. This study aims at determining in vitro the bioavailability and bioaccessibility of the main compounds present in decoctions of four individual plants, in a commercial mixture and in four mixtures of two individual plants used in the preparation of Ayahuasca. The samples were subjected to an in vitro digestion process, and the Caco-2 cell line was used as an absorption model. The integrity and permeability of the cell monolayer were evaluated, as well as the cytotoxicity of the extracts. After digestion and cell incubation, the compounds absorbed by the cell monolayer were quantified by high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to a diode array detector. The results showed that compounds such as N,N-dimethyltryptamine, Harmine, Harmaline, Harmol, Harmalol and Tetrahydroharmine were released from the matrix during the in vitro digestion process, becoming bioaccessible. Similarly, some of these compounds, after being incubated with the cell monolayer, were absorbed, becoming bioavailable. Due to the limitations of traditional periodontal therapies, and reported cold atmospheric plasma anti-inflammatory/antimicrobial activities, plasma could be an adjuvant therapy to periodontitis. Porphyromonas gingivalis was grown in blood agar. Standardized suspensions were plated on blood agar and plasma-treated for planktonic growth. For biofilm, dual-species Streptococcus gordonii + P. gingivalis biofilm grew for 48 h and then was plasma-treated. XTT assay and CFU counting were performed. Cytotoxicity was accessed immediately or after 24 h. Plasma was applied for 1, 3, 5 or 7 min. In vivo: Thirty C57BI/6 mice were subject to experimental periodontitis for 11 days. Immediately after ligature removal, animals were plasma-treated for 5 min once—Group P1 (n = 10); twice (Day 11 and 13)—Group P2 (n = 10); or not treated—Group S (n = 10). Mice were euthanized on day 15. Histological and microtomography analyses were performed. Significance level was 5%. Halo diameter increased proportionally to time of exposure contrary to CFU/mL counting. Mean/SD of fibroblasts viability did not vary among the groups. Plasma was able to inhibit P. gingivalis in planktonic culture and biofilm in a cell-safe manner. Moreover, plasma treatment in vivo, for 5 min, tends to improve periodontal tissue recovery, proportionally to the number of plasma applications. 相似文献

Due to new findings, the methodology based on room-temperature ultrasonic irradiation (sonolysis) for conversion of organomercurials into inorganic mercury [J.L. Capelo, I. Lavilla, C. Bendicho, Anal. Chem. 72 (2000) 4979-4984.] is further investigated. Inorganic mercury is selectively determined by Flow Injection-Cold Vapour Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (FI-CV-AAS) using SnCl2/HCl. Complete oxidation of methyl-mercury can be accomplished within 90 s whilst phenyl and diphenyl-mercury can be degraded within 10 s using a 50% sonication amplitude (100 W nominal power) provided by a probe ultrasonic device (20.5 kHz frequency) and a 1 mol L−1 HCl liquid medium with the presence of hypoclorite ion. The importance of hypochlorite in reduction of organomercurials by stannous chloride is highlighted. Fractionation of the metals Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn in sediments was performed for samples collected from eight locations in the Poxim river estuary of Sergipe State, northeast Brazil, using the 3-stage sequential extraction procedure proposed by the European Community Bureau of Reference (BCR). The extraction method was found to be satisfactory for analysis of certified reference material BCR-701, with recovery values ranging from 85% (Cu) to 117% (Cr). The detection limits obtained were 0.001 to 0.305 µg g− 1. Zn exhibited greatest mobility and bioavailability, indicative of anthropogenic sources, while Cr was mainly found in the residual fraction and could be used as an indicator for the contribution from natural sources. Cd, Cu, Ni and Pb were associated with the oxidizable fraction, and Pb, Cr and Ni with the reducible fraction. Principal component analysis (PCA) clearly separated the metals into three groups: I (Zn); II (Pb); III (Cd, Cu, Cr and Ni). These groupings were mainly due to different distributions of the metals in the various fractions, in sediments from the different locations. Risk assessment code (RAC) analysis indicated that although the metals presented a moderate overall risk to the aquatic environment, nickel showed a low risk (RAC < 10%) at three sites, while zinc presented a high risk (RAC > 30%) at four other sites. 相似文献

Organophosphorus insecticides are widely employed in agriculture, and residues of them can remain after harvesting or storage.
Pesticide residue control is an important task for ensuring food safety. Common chromatographic methods used in the determination
of pesticide residues in food require clean-up and concentration steps prior to quantitation. While solid-phase extraction
has been widely employed for this purpose, there is a need to improve selectivity. Due to their inherent biomimetic recognition
systems, molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP) allow selectivity to be enhanced while keeping the costs of analysis low. In
this work, a MIP that was designed to enable the selective extraction of fenitrothion (FNT) from tomatoes was synthesized
using a noncovalent imprinting approach. The polymer was prepared using methacrylic acid as functional monomer and ethyleneglycol
dimethacrylate as crosslinking monomer in dichloromethane (a porogenic solvent). The polymer was characterized by Fourier
transform infrared spectroscopy, solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and nitrogen
sorption porosimetry. The pore structure and the surface area were evaluated using the BET adsorption method. To characterize
the batch rebinding behavior of the MIP, the adsorption isotherm was measured, allowing the total number of binding sites,
the average binding affinity and the heterogeneity index to be established. A voltammetric method of quantifying FNT during
the molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction (MISPE) studies was developed. The polymer was placed in extraction cartridges
which were then used to clean up and concentrate FNT in tomato samples prior to high-performance liquid chromatographic quantitation.
The material presented a medium extraction efficiency of 59% (for analyses performed with three different cartridges on three
days and a fortification level of 5.0 μg g−1) and selectivity when used in the preparation of tomato samples, and presented the advantage that the polymer could be reused
several times after regeneration.

There is increasing pressure to identify natural feed additives to mitigate methane emissions from livestock systems. Our objective was to investigate the effects of essential oils (EO) extracts star anise (Illicium verum), citronella (Cymbopogon winterianus), clove bud (Eugenia caryophyllus), staigeriana eucalyptus (Eucalyptus staigeriana), globulus eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus), ginger (Zingiber officinale), ho wood (Cinnamomum camphora), melaleuca (Melaleuca alternifolia), oregano (Origanum vulgare) and white thyme (Thymus vulgaris) on in vitro methane emissions from four rumen-cannulated Nellore cattle grazing a tropical grass pasture as inoculum donors. The semi-automated gas production technique was used to assess total gas production, dry matter degradability, partitioning factor, ammoniacal nitrogen, short-chain fatty acids and methane production. All essential oils were tested in four doses (0, 50, 250 and 500 mg/L) in a randomized block design, arranged with four blocks, 10 treatments, four doses and two replicates. Within our study, oregano and white Thyme EO reduced net methane production at 250 mg/L, without affecting substrate degradation. Essential oils from oregano and white thyme have the potential to modify ruminal fermentation and suppress rumen methanogenesis without negative effects on feed digestibility, indicating promise as alternatives to ionophores for methane reduction in beef cattle. 相似文献
