We propose to use the spin-orbit interaction as a means to control electron spins in quantum dots, enabling both single-qubit and two-qubit operations. Very fast single-qubit operations may be achieved by temporarily displacing the electrons. For two-qubit operations the coupling mechanism is based on a combination of the spin-orbit coupling and the mutual long-ranged Coulomb interaction. Compared to existing schemes using the exchange coupling, the spin-orbit induced coupling is less sensitive to random electrical fluctuations in the electrodes defining the quantum dots.  相似文献

Emission Mössbauer spectroscopy has been utilised to characterize dilute 57Fe impurities in In 2O3 following implantation of 57Mn (T 1/2 = 1.5 min.) at the ISOLDE facility at CERN. From stoichiometry considerations, one would expect Fe to adopt the valence state 3 + , substituting In 3+, however the spectra are dominated by spectral lines due to paramagnetic Fe2+. Using first principle calculations in the framework of density functional theory (DFT), the density of states of dilute Fe and the hyperfine parameters have been determined. The hybridization between the 3d-band of Fe and the 2p band of oxygen induces a spin-polarized hole on the O site close to the Fe site, which is found to be the cause of the Fe2+ state in In 2O3. Comparison of experimental data to calculated hyperfine parameters suggests that Fe predominantly enters the 8b site rather than the 24d site of the cation site in the Bixbyite structure of In 2O3. A gradual transition from an amorphous to a crystalline state is observed with increasing implantation/annealing temperature.  相似文献

An acoustic pulse propagating on a two-mode fiber can act as a beam splitter in a scanning interferometer. When this device is employed in white-light interferometry, the effects of distributed coupling and dispersive interferometer arms need to be considered. A theory suitable for treating acousto-optic interaction of partially coherent light in a moving interaction region was developed. It was found that differential optical dispersion should be negligible and the acoustic pulse length short. Also the coherence time should be short but long compared to the intermodal group delay difference over a pulse length. Experiments with long acoustic pulses were performed, and fairly good agreement with theory was obtained.  相似文献

We present a comparative study of ultrafast photoexcited state relaxation in pentacene single crystals and in pure and C60-doped pentacene films using optical pump-probe spectroscopy. The photoinduced absorption spectra in pentacene crystals is consistent with a dominant singlet-triplet fission decay channel for above-gap excitation. This decay channel is suppressed in thin films and even further suppressed by electron trapping in C60-doped films. Thus we show that suppression of triplet state production, which is necessary for free carrier formation and thus photovoltaic and photodiode performance, is controllable via sample morphology.  相似文献

We propose to subject two Bose-Einstein condensates to a periodic potential, so that one condensate undergoes the Mott-insulator transition to a state with precisely one atom per lattice site. We show that photoassociation of heteronuclear molecules within each lattice site is described by the quantum optical Jaynes-Cummings Hamiltonian. In analogy with studies of this Hamiltonian with cavity fields and trapped ions, we are thus able to engineer quantum optical states of atomic matter wave fields and we are able to reconstruct these states by quantum state tomography.  相似文献

A coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering microscope based on a Ti:sapphire femtosecond oscillator and a photonic crystal fiber is demonstrated. The nonlinear response of the fiber is used to generate the additional wavelength needed in the Raman process.
