The ageing society causes an increasing need for gait monitoring in daily life to preserve the mobility of older people. Therefore, flexible low‐cost and easy‐to‐apply sensor networks are necessary. This study evaluates two in‐house developed inertial sensors for their capability of detecting spatial and temporal parameters of gait by using a time‐warping algorithm for stride segmentation. Thereby, impaired or wheeled walker supported gait can be analysed using a patient specific template. The results prove the capability to exclude sequences from the motion that do not correspond to strides and to detect spatio‐temporal parameters reliably. For the application to geriatric patients, however, further research is necessary.  相似文献

In this Letter, we propose a generic nonlinear coupling coefficient, η(NL)2=η|γ/β?|(fiber2)/|γ/β?|(fiber1), which gives a quantitative measure for the efficiency of nonlinear matching of optical fibers by describing how a fundamental soliton couples from one fiber into another. Specifically, we use η(NL) to demonstrate a significant soliton self-frequency shift of a fundamental soliton, and we show that nonlinear matching can take precedence over linear mode matching. The nonlinear coupling coefficient depends on both the dispersion (β?) and nonlinearity (γ), as well as on the power coupling efficiency η. Being generic, η(NL) enables engineering of general waveguide systems, e.g., for optimized Raman redshift or supercontinuum generation.  相似文献

This paper presents an effective methodology to characterize all the constitutive (elastic) parameters of an orthotropic polymeric foam material (Divinycell H100) in one single test using Digital Image Correlation (DIC) in combination with the Virtual Fields Method (VFM). A modified Arcan fixture is used to induce various loading conditions ranging from pure shear or axial loading in tension or compression to bidirectional loading. A numerical optimization study was performed with different loading angles of the Arcan test fixture and off-axis angles of the principal material axes. The objective is to identify the configuration that gives the minimum sensitivity to noise and missing data on the specimen edges, which are the two major issues when identifying the stiffness components from actual DIC measurements. Two optimized Arcan test configurations were chosen. The experimental results obtained for these two optimized test configurations show a significant improvement of the measurement accuracy compared with a pure shear load configuration. The larger sensitivity of the pure shear test to missing data as opposed to the tensile test is also evident from the experimental data and confirms the analysis from the optimization study. The recovery of missing data along the specimen edges is a promising way to further improve the identification results.  相似文献

Motion of a rigid or deformable solid in a viscous incompressible fluid and corresponding fluid–solid interactions are considered. Different cases of applying high frequency vibrations to the solid or to the surrounding fluid are treated. Simple formulas for the mean velocity of the solid are derived, under the assumption that the regime of the fluid flow induced by its motion is turbulent and the fluid resistance force is nonlinearly dependent on its velocity. It is shown that vibrations of a fluid’s volume slow down the motion of a submerged solid. This effect is much pronounced in the case of a deformable solid (i.e., gas bubble) exposed to near-resonant excitation. The results are relevant to the theory of gravitational enrichment of raw materials, and also contribute to the theory of controlled locomotion of a body with an internal oscillator in continuous deformable (solid or fluid) media.  相似文献

We report both Raman and infrared reflectivity spectra of M2Cu2O5 (M=Y, Ho) at room temperature in the spectral range of 30–1000 cm–1.37 (31) ir and 18 (15) Raman active modes of Y2Cu2O5 (Ho2Cu2O5) are observed. A factor group analysis has been performed to identify the symmetries of the observed modes. Comparing the vibrational spectra of these compounds we conclude that the phonons above 300 cm–1 originate from the Cu–O vibrations and those under 300 cm–1 from M–O vibrations.Alexander von Humboldt Foundation fellow  相似文献
