Periodic solutions of some infinite-dimensional Hamiltonian systems associated with non-linear partial difference equations. II

This is our second paper devoted to the study of some non-linear Schrödinger equations with random potential. We study the non-linear eigenvalue problems corresponding to these equations. We exhibit a countable family of eigenfunctions corresponding to simple eigenvalues densely embedded in the band tails. Contrary to our results in the first paper, the results established in the present paper hold for an arbitrary strength of the non-linear (cubic) term in the non-linear Schrödinger equation.     

Dynamics of the current-driven Josephson junction

The irreversible macroscopic dynamics of the Josephson junction coupled to external wires acting as a current source is derived rigorously from the underlying microscopic Hamiltonian quantum mechanics. The external systems are treated in the singular coupling limit. The use of this limit is explicitly justified via an interpretation of the singular coupling limit in terms of the relative magnitudes of system, reservoir, and coupling energies. The qualitative behavior of the macroscopic dynamical equations is shown to depend sensitively and crucially on the interaction between the wires and the superconductors and on the size of the wires: the dc Josephson effect only happens when one lets Cooper pairs be driven into the junction by collective (i.e., small) reservoirs.     

Diffusion in organic solvents: Interdiffusion coefficient of 1,1,2,2-tetrabromoethane

Interdiffusion coefficient have been measured for 1,1,2,2-tetrabromoethane in 21 organic solvents in order to ascertain the influence of shape, size, viscosity, nature and degree of branching, of the solvent molecules on transport properties. None of the existing correlations for diffusion in binary liquid systems appear to fit all the experimental data. Steric effects due to the solvent molecules are shown to be very important in the interpretation of the diffusion process.     

Analyse de couches minces de verres chalcogenures par diffusion elastique de protons et mesure de gammas prompts

Résumé Une méthode d'étude de la composition stoéchiométrique de couches minces (10 à 500 μg/cm²) de verres chalcogénures est développée. L'étude des réactions nucléaire; induites par bombardement de protons de basse énergie (<4 MeV) sur les éléments constitutifs Ge, As, Te et S, conduit à choisir la diffusion élastique et la détection de gammas prompts pour le dosage simulatené. La précision et la sensibilité de la méthode sont discutées à partir des résultats obtenus. L'utilisation de la résonance fine sur le soufre (p, p'γ) est appliquée à l'étude de l'homogénéité des cibles.     

Beiträge zur Chemie der Pyrrolpigmente, 31. Mitt.: Die Spin-Gitter-Relaxation in den1H-NMR-Spektren von Bilatrienen-abc

The¹H-NMR spin lattice relaxation times of aetiobiliverdin-IV- and biliverdindimethylester were determined using the inversion recovery technique. The relaxation times of protons attached to the terminal rings A and D are longer than those situated at the rings B and C which points to a higher mobility of rings A and D. Moreover these measurements allowed an independent assignment of the¹H-NMR-signals of the methyl groups of biliverdindimethylester.
