In the present work, ferrites with compositions of (Ni0.27Zn0.64Cux)Fe1.98O4 (x=0.1, 0.2) were prepared by conventional ceramic methods. The relationship between the microstructure and the temperature dependence of relative initial permeability was investigated. It was found that intergranular pores in the ferrites generate large demagnetizing fields, reducing the temperature dependence of the effective anisotropy field Heff, and decreasing the temperature dependence of the relative initial permeability accordingly. However, intragranular pores pin the movement of domain walls. Compared with the permeability induced by domain wall motion, the permeability that resulted from the spin rotation is more sensitive to temperature. As a result, the relative initial permeability of ferrites becomes more sensitive to temperature with increasing micropores within grains. 相似文献

We report on a novel method for local control of shell engineering in multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) using Joule-heating
induced electric breakdown. By modulating the heat dissipation along a nanotube, we can confine its thinning and shell breakdown
to occur within localized regions of peak temperatures, which are distributed over one-half of the NT length. The modulation
is achieved by using suitably designed nanomachined heat sinks with different degrees of thermal coupling at different parts
of a current-carrying nanotube. The location of electric breakdown occurs precisely at the regions of high temperatures predicted
by the classical finite-element model of Joule heating in the MWNT. The experiments herein provide new insight into the electric
breakdown mechanism and prove unambiguously that shell removal occurs due to thermal stress, underpinning the diffusive nature
of MWNTs. The method demonstrated here has the potential to be a powerful tool in realizing MWNT bearings with complex architectures
for use in integrated nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS). In addition, the breakdown current and power in the nanotubes
are significantly higher than those observed in nanotubes without heat removal via additional heat sinks. This indicates future
avenues for enhancing the performance of MWNTs in electrical interconnect and nanoelectronic applications.

This work reports the research carried out by studying aliquots extracted at different axial coordinates from Three Way Catalyst (TWC) monoliths aged under real traffic conditions. Our study focused on the catalytic properties and on several chemical and physical effects caused in the Front and Rear monolith washcoat surfaces by vehicle aging after 60,000 km. Regarding the catalytic properties, all the used aliquots showed poorer activity than their corresponding fresh counterparts. The strongest deactivation was detected for NO and hydrocarbon conversion. CO conversion was less affected and the Rear monolith was as deactivated as the Front one. The characterisation techniques (TXRF, N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms, XRD and H2-TPR) detected - (i) the deposition of P, Zn and Pb; (ii) the formation of CePO4 on account of the Ce from the washcoat; (iii) thermal sintering; (iv) inhibition of the reducibility of Ce oxides - as the main effects brought about by vehicle aging conditions. The deactivation observed at the beginning of the Front monolith was the result of a combination of the former effects. When moving downstream to higher axial coordinates, Pb accumulation and the loss of specific area appeared to be the only probable sources of deactivation. 相似文献

Electrical steels, when submitted to operation, present continuous decrease of their magnetic properties, depending on the carbon content. This effect is attributed to the increase of the size of carbides, a process also known as coarsening or Ostwald Ripening. Loss separation can offer a better understanding of this phenomenon. Experimental results show that all effect of aging is inside the hysteresis loss component, with the excess losses unaffected. The carbon content in electrical steels should be less than 25 ppm to avoid magnetic aging. 相似文献

A series of nucleon–nucleon bremsstrahlung (NNγ) experiments at 190 MeV incident beam energy have been performed at KVI in order to gain more insight into the dynamics governing the bremsstrahlung reaction. After initial measurements wherein the bremsstrahlung process was studied far away from the elastic limit, a new study was used to probe the process nearer to the elastic limit by measuring at lower photon energies. Measured cross sections and analyzing powers are compared with the predictions of a microscopic model and those of two soft-photon models. In this paper, we discuss two key aspects of magnetisation reversal in magnetic thin films with perpendicular anisotropy. Firstly, a study has been made of the additional field required to erase data written perpendicular to a thin film recording disk as the linear data density is increased. It has been found that an increase in data density from 40 to 360 kfci results in an increase of 1.25 kOe in the field required to erase the data. Secondly, the effect of varying the level of exchange coupling by co-sputtering CoCrPt samples with SiO2 has been studied using a characterisation technique that is independent of the self-demagnetising field. It has been found that the samples are fully exchange de-coupled when the film contains >9.8% SiO2 and the activation volume of reversal remains constant for higher levels of SiO2. 相似文献
