We contrast the different approaches of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) to superficially similar problems. The concepts of efficiency and Pareto optimality in DEA and MCDM are compared, and a link is demonstrated between the ratio efficiency definition in DEA and a distance measure in input–output space based on linear value functions. The problem of weight sensitivity is discussed in terms of value measurement theory, highlighting the assumptions needed during model formulation in order to justify the use of value judgements to constrain weight flexibility in DEA. Finally, we propose a stochastic approach, in which a probability distribution on efficiencies can be derived for each decision making unit, as a basis for comparison. 相似文献

A form of game-theoretic model is proposed for the problem of search for an evading target. The region of search is divided into two cells, with the evader starting in the first cell and having the objective of moving from there, through the second to some goal area, without being detected. Optimal searcher strategy is derived in analytical form for some special cases of practical interest. The results indicate that if there is any difference in detectability in the two cells, then there is optimally a rather large concentration of search effort in the more favourable cell. The special cases are also compared numerically with some more general situations. Although both the model and the solution are relatively simple, they serve to demonstrate the potential value of this form of approach to the problem, as well as the complexity of the problem for more general situations. 相似文献

A femtosecond frequency comb provides a vast number of equidistantly spaced narrow band laser modes that can be simultaneously tuned and frequency calibrated with 15 digit accuracy. Our Vernier spectrometer utilizes all of theses modes in a massively parallel manner to rapidly record both absorption and dispersion spectra with a sensitivity that is provided by a high finesse broadband optical resonator and a resolution that is only limited by the frequency comb line width while keeping the required setup simple. 相似文献

Toward nitrogen functionalization, reactive terminal transition metal nitrides with high d‐electron counts are of interest. A series of terminal MoIV nitride complexes were prepared within the context of exploring nitride/carbonyl coupling to cyanate. Reduction affords the first MoII nitrido complex, an early metal nitride with four valence d‐electrons. The binding mode of the para‐terphenyl diphosphine ancillary ligand changes to stabilize an electronic configuration with a high electron count and a formal M?N bond order of three. Even with an intact Mo≡N bond, this low‐valent nitrido complex proves to be highly reactive, readily undergoing N‐atom transfer upon addition of CO, releasing cyanate anion. 相似文献

The investigation and understanding of polymer crystallization processes, the resulting crystalline morphologies, and the mechanism of their formation is crucial in creating materials with desired properties for specific applications. The present research introduces and investigates a new polymeric crystalline morphology, observed for the first time in this research. This newly observed morphology, is a sequentially micro‐multi‐layered concentric morphology that self‐assembles throughout the bulk polymer matrix, with intermittent self‐shear‐oriented amorphous layers. The research analyses the structure and mechanism of its formation. Polarized light microscopy studies have shown a drastic and sudden morphology change that occurred during crystalline growth. Crystalline‐growth kinetics studies performed, showed a distinct pulsatile repeating growth pattern of approximately two growth pulses per second. Thermal analysis indicated the presence of two different populations of crystalline strength. Crystalline structure was analyzed by XRD pattern measurements. It was demonstrated here, that the sequential concentric transcrystalline morphology is nucleated on a shear‐oriented amorphous molecular layer in the adjacent melt formed during and as a consequence of crystalline growth, which occurs in a micro‐periodic sequences, with intermittent self‐sheared amorphous layers. The structure was confirmed by both scanning electron microscope and reflectance microscopy. Small angle X‐ray scattering measurements of the same materials reported in literature are consistent with the melt shear‐orientation theory described earlier. The discovery of this new crystalline morphology in this research, potentially opens a new door in the vast field of material properties and applications.
