Recessively Compact Sets: Properties and Uses

We develop the concept of recessive compactness recently introduced by Luc and Penot. Then we employ this idea to extend some important results of functional analysis such as closed image criteria, a theorem on a family of unbounded sets having a finite intersection property, an existence condition for a variational inequality problem on a noncompact set, a fixed point theorem for nonexpansive maps on unbounded sets, and an existence result for periodic solutions of a nonlinear differential equation in a Hilbert space without a-priori estimates for the solutions of the equation to stay in a bounded region.     

Goal Programming and Allocating Children to Secondary Schools in Reading

The secondary allocation scheme proposed for Reading by Berkshire County Council (B.C.C.) in 1978 has been investigated under the Race Relations Act. After reviewing previous programming studies of devising school catchment areas, this paper uses the technique of goal programming to analyze the problem of proposing catchment areas for the secondary schools in Greater Reading. Six goals are identified: distance, difficulty of journey, racial balance, reading-age retarded balance, sex balance and capacity utilization. The problem is solved for 10 alternative sets of goal weights, and it is shown that most of these dominate the B.C.C. solution.     

输运层势垒对双层结构器件复合发光的影响

通过分析双层结构器件复合发光的实际物理过程，建立了双层器件载流子输运与复合发光的多势垒的理论模型，计算并讨论了器件复合效率随外加电压及输运层势垒（包括势垒高度和宽度）的变化关系，该理论模型较好地解释实验现象。     

Comparison of deep-inelastic electron-photon scattering data with the HERWIG and PHOJET Monte Carlo Models

Deep-inelastic electron-photon scattering is studied in the range from 1.2 to 30 GeV using the LEP1 data taken with the ALEPH, L3 and OPAL detectors at centre-of-mass energies close to the mass of the Z boson. Distributions of the measured hadronic final state are corrected to the hadron level and compared to the predictions of the HERWIG and PHOJET Monte Carlo models. For large regions in most of the distributions studied the results of the different experiments agree with one another. However, significant differences are found between the data and the models. Therefore the combined LEP data serve as an important input to improve on the Monte Carlo models. Received: 5 July 2000 / Published online: 15 February 2002

Study on PEG-（NH4）2SO4 Aqueous Two-Phase System and Distribution Behavior of Drugs

The distribution behavior of chlorpromazine hydrochloride (CPZ), procaine hydrochloride (PCN) and procaine amide hydrochloride (PCNA) in polyethylene glycol (PEG800 or PEG1500)-(NH4)2SO4 aqueous two-phase systems has been investigated. The result shows that the PEG-(NH4)2SO4 aqueous two-phase system has potential extraction capability in small molecular drug separation. In PEG800-(NH4)2SO4 system, the extraction efficiencies (E) of CPZ, PCN and PCNA amount to 92.8%, 74.5% and 74.4%, respectively, with the distribution coefficients (KD) being 25.7, 5.9 and 5.8, correspondingly. In PEG1500-(NH4)2SO4 system, the extraction efficiencies (E) of CPZ,PCN and PCNA are 93.7%, 71.3% and 63.2%, respectively, with distribution coefficients (KD) of 39.6, 6.6 and 5.0,correspondingly. Based on the study on ultraviolet and fluorescence spectra and also distribution behavior of the drugs in PEG-(NH4)2SO4 aqueous two-phase system, extraction mechanism was further proposed that both hydrogen bond and hydrophobic interaction are involved in extraction.     

以N2O为氧化剂, Fe-P-O催化剂气相催化氧化苯制苯酚的研究

考察了应用N2O为氧化剂，FePO4、FePO4／SiO2、Fe0．5Al0.5PO4为催化剂气相催化氧化苯制苯酚的反应。在450℃下，FePO4催化剂上苯的转化率为2％，苯酚的选择性为85%；FePO4／SiO2(5％)催化剂上苯的转化率约为7％，苯酚的选择性为89％．Fe0．5Al0.5PO4催化剂可以使反应温度降低约100℃，350℃下反应苯的转化率为3．5％，苯酚的选择性为60％．分析表明，四面体结构的FeO4在该催化反应中具有重要的作用。
