Intermolecular proton transfer in solid phase: a rare example of crystal-to-crystal transformation from hydroxo- to oxo-bridged iron(III) molecule-based magnet

Intermolecular proton transfer in solid phase from the hydroxo bridge to a water molecule occurs in a new mu-hydroxo iron(III) compound of formula {EtNH3[Fe2(ox)2Cl2(mu-OH)].2H2O}n leading to a still crystalline compound in which the mu-oxo bridge replaces the mu-hydroxo one. Both three-dimensional compounds exhibit magnetic ordering at Tc ca. 70 K due to a spin canting.     

Chromatographic and spectroscopic investigation of the associative changes with the selected higher fatty alcohols

An attempt was made to compare usefulness of the ir spectroscopic technique with paper chromatography in the investigations concerning self-association of higher fatty alcohols. A conclusion was drawn that only the complementary application of both analytical methods better enabled to trace the establishing of association equilibria in the given experimental conditions.     

Crystal Structures of 1,5,9,18,22,26-Hexaaza[11.11]-p-cyclophane Adducts; Two-dimensional Supramolecular Networks

Two newly identified supramolecular structures arise from self-assembly of the macrocyclic 1,5,9,18,22,26- hexaaza[11.11]-p-cyclophane salts with o-nitrophenol (C₂₈H₅₀N₆)⁴⁺·4(C₆H₄NO₂O)⁻ (1) and with HCl (C₂₈H₅₂N₆)⁶⁺·6Cl^-·4H₂O (2). In both cases two-dimensional supramolecular sheets are formed.     

Poly(hexamethylene terephthalate)—I. Interpretation of its diffraction patterns

X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy and electron diffraction studies of poly(hexamethylene terephthalate) reveal a variety of structures and morphologies. Polymer micro-single crystals, grown from nitrobenzene-hexane or nitrobenzene-decane solutions exist in three crystal structures. Two forms are triclinic, the third is monoclinic. The single chain triclinic unit-cell (form I) has dimensions $\text{a = 5.217, b = 5.284, c = 15.738}\text{A}\text{?}\text{(}\text{fibre axis}\text{) α = 129.4, β = 97.6, γ = 95.6°}$. The double chain triclinic unit-cell, (form II), has all dimensions and angles equal to those of form I but for b which is twice as large. There are six chains in the monoclinic unit-cell (form III) with dimensions $\text{a = 9.100, b = 17.560, c = 15.74}\text{A}\text{?}\text{(}\text{fibre axis}\text{), α = 127.8°}$. All three forms have a common value of the fibre repeat, $\text{c = 15.74}\text{A}\text{?}$, indicating that in all three forms the polyester presents itself in a fully extended conformation. The differences between the various polymorphs arise from different packing modes of the chains. In the fibre, both the monoclinic and the triclinic forms coexist.     

The Effect of the Catalyst Used on the Kinetics of Di-2-Ethylhexyl Maleate Synthesis

Kinetics of the esterification of maleic anhydride with 2-ethylhexanol in the presence of sulfuric acid, amphoteric tetrabutyl titanate or in the absence of external catalyst has been studied. The kinetic equations and kinetic parameters have been determined.     

Cyclopentathiadiazines, new heterocyclic materials from cyclic enaminonitriles

Indene and cyclopentene enaminonitriles were reacted with SCl2, iBu3N and NCS to give the first cyclopenta[1,2,6]thiadiazines that showed unusual characteristics, one as a NIR dye and another as a liquid crystal.     

Synthesis of new fluorinated 1,5-benzoxazepine derivatives

A simple approach to the fluorinated 1,5-benzoxazepine ring system is described. By reacting commercially accessible aminophenols 1 and the trifluoroacetylvinyl ether 2, high yields of enaminones 3 were obtained. Functionalization of methyl group of compounds 3 gave rise to dieneamines 4 that were cyclized in acidic environment to benzoxazepine derivatives 5.
