The first twelve members of the n-alkyl 2,5-bis-(4'-cyanobiphenyloxybutyloxy)-benozates have been prepared. The compounds are nematogenic; in addition the first three members exhibit a smectic A phase. The nematic-isotropic transition temperatures decrease with little or no alternation on increasing the number of methylene groups in the lateral chain; this is analogous to the behaviour found in monomeric and polymeric mesogens possessing lateral alkyl chains.  相似文献

Measurements of the transmission of XeCl excimer laser pulses (308 nm) through optical all-silica fibers are reported. The observed photodegradation effects during long time irradiation are dependent on the laser energy density and the laser repetition rate. Also the influence of the fiber drawing parameters and fiber geometry have been investigated. Absorption spectra of the fibers in the wavelength range from 200nm to 400nm before and after the irradiation with the excimer laser give some insight in the physical reasons for the changes in transmission properties. We have measured the frequencies of four CH3OH far-infrared laser lines that were previously known only by wavelength measurement. Two of these lines turned out to be doublets, bringing the total number of measured lines to six. We can now confirm the assignments of five of them and definitely disprove the assignments proposed for the sixth.In particular we confirm the assignments for the four strong laser lines at 205 and 208 µm pumped by the 9-P(34) CO2 laser line. These lines share a common upper level in the first excited CO-stretch state, and terminate in the upper and lower levels of a hybrid state with J=5. Heterodyne frequency measurements and conventional microwave spectroscopy show that both lines are split into two components approximately 3.5 MHz apart. X-ray diffraction studies have been undertaken on aqueous solutions of hydroxy propylcellulose (HPC) over a wide range of the scattering vector Q. The experiments revealed only modest differences in local structure on a distance scale ca. 5–300 Å despite the fact that they covered concentrations generally interpreted as ranging from the isotropic (35.1 wt %) to the anisotropic liquid crystalline (LC) phase (53.5 wt %). Several models were used to interpret the small-angle scattering data, and each gave similar structural parameters and extrapolated intensities ( Q → 0) for both solutions. Peaks were observed with d-spacings ca. 12–17 Å in both materials. Wide-angle x-ray scattering (WAXS) showed slightly increased local order over a size range ca. 5–20 Å for the anisotropic solution, and this is consistent with a greater intensity of the 13 Å peak in this material. It is difficult to reconcile these findings with an interpretation of the LC state involving major differences with the isotropic phase and a high degree of orientational order extending over long length scales.  相似文献

The effect of angular momentum on the competition between fission and particle emission during light system fission process was studied via fission diffusion model. The prescission particle multiplicities were found to increase with decreasing angular momentum. The experimental prescission proton and α particle multiplicities can be fitted for 10.6 MeV/nucleon 84Kr(27Al,binary fission) reaction with this model. Entrance channel effect found in [1] is proved to be angular momentum effect.  相似文献

A spinor field interacting with a zero-mass neutral scalar field is considered for the case of the simplest type of direct interaction, where the interaction Lagrangian has the formL int =1/2 ϕαϕ F(S) whereF(S) is an arbitrary function of the spinor field invariantS=ψψ. Exact solutions of the corresponding systems of equations that take into account the natural gravitational field in a plane-symmetric metric are obtained. It is proved that the initial system of equations has regular localized soliton-type solutions only if the energy density of the zero-mass scalar field is negative as it “disengages” from interaction with the spinor field. In two-dimensional space-time the system of field equations we are studying describes the configuration of fields with constant energy densityT 00 , i.e., no soliton-like solutions exist in this case. Summary Time variations of the semi-diurnal and diurnal tides observed at Budrio (45°N, 12°E) in the wind structure of the lower thermosphere ((80÷110) km) throughout the period 1976–1990 are herewith represented as monthly contours of both amplitudes and phasesvs. height. The semi-diurnal tide has more marked seasonal variations, showing amplitudes generally larger than the diurnal ones ((10÷30) m/svs. (5÷15) m/s). The vertical wavelengths are longer in summer than in winter, at least below 100 km. Agreement with new numerical models for semi-diurnal tide at 50°N appears to be satisfactory.  相似文献
