Development and refinement of sample preparation protocols for retrospective detection and identification of chemical warfare agents (CWAs) and their markers is of paramount importance from verification point of view of chemical weapons convention (CWC). Precursors of nitrogen- and sulfur-mustards (NMPs and SMPs) are polar adsorptive markers of vesicant class of CWAs. Their detection in a given environmental sample may imply past contamination with mustards. For the efficient extraction of NMPs and SMPs from soil, on-matrix derivatisation-extraction (OMDEX) method was developed and optimized. The method involved trifluoroacetylation of analytes on soil itself, followed by extraction with suitable solvent. The extracted samples were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). This virtually single-step sample preparation offered better recoveries of NMPs and SMPs in comparison to conventionally used extraction, evaporation and derivatisation. The best recoveries of analytes were obtained with acetonitrile by OMDEX method. Dynamic linearity range of trifluoroacetylated (TFA) derivatives of NMPs and SMPs was 1-12 microg/L in GC-MS analysis in SIM mode. Repeatability and reproducibility of this technique containing 5 and 10 microg analytes/gm soil was <3.3% and <4.6%, respectively. OMDEX technique was finally applied for the detection of TFA derivatives of NMPs in the soil sample supplied in 16th official proficiency test conducted by OPCW in October 2004. 相似文献

Reaction of Cu(BF(4))(2).6H(2)O with the N(3)O(2) donor ligand H(2)L (where H(2)L = N-benzyl-N',N'-di-tert-butyl-disalicyl-triaminocyclohexane) results in the formation of a novel Cu(II)L complex, 1. X-Ray crystallography of it shows the Cu(II) centre coordinated by two phenolate oxygens and two imine nitrogens in a distorted square plane with an elongated bond to the amine nitrogen (2.512 A) in the axial position. EPR spectroscopy gives g values of g(1) = 2.277, g(2) = 2.100, g(3) = 2.025, and A(1) = 15.6 mT which are consistent with the distorted square pyramidal coordination environment determined from the X-ray structure. UV/visible and electrochemical analysis of shows that it undergoes two reversible processes assigned to the successive oxidation of the phenolate oxygens to phenoxyl radicals, the first at E((1/2)) = 0.89 V (DeltaE = 81 mV, vs. Ag/AgCl) and the second at E((1/2)) = 1.13V (DeltaE = 84 mV, vs. Ag/AgCl). Chemical oxidation results in the formation of a species, assigned as [1](+)(.) which is EPR silent due to antiferromagnetic coupling between the Cu(II) centre and the bound phenoxyl radical. The canine parvovirus type 2 (CPV-2) causes an acute disease in dogs. It has been found to induce cell cycle arrest and DNA damage leading to cellular lysis. In this paper, we evaluated the apoptotic potential of the “new CPV-2a” in MDCK cells and elucidated the mechanism of the induction of apoptosis. The exposure of MDCK cells to the virus was found to trigger apoptotic response. Apoptosis was confirmed by phosphatidylserine translocation, DNA fragmentation assays, and cell cycle analysis. Activation of caspases-3, -8, -9, and -12 and decrease in mitochondrial potential in CPV-2a-infected MDCK cells suggested that the CPV-2a-induced apoptosis is caspase dependent involving extrinsic, intrinsic, and endoplasmic reticulum pathways. Increase in p53 and Bax/Bcl2 ratio was also observed in CPV-2a-infected cells. 相似文献

A previously unknown class of highly substituted benzoquinoline–spirooxindole are easily prepared by a novel application of a mild and efficient catalyst SbCl3 for carbon–carbon and carbon–nitrogen bond formation reaction involving isatin, alkyne (dialkyl but-2-ynedioate) with aromatic amine (2-naphthylamine) in a one-pot three-component reaction. Effects of electric field on the structure of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) terminated alkanethiol self-assembled monolayer (SAM) on gold have been studied using parallel molecular dynamics method. An applied electric field triggers a conformational transition from all-trans to a mostly gauche conformation. The polarity of the electric field has a significant effect on the surface structure of PEG leading to a profound effect on the hydrophilicity of the surface. The electric field applied antiparallel to the surface normal causes a reversible transition to an ordered state in which the oxygen atoms are exposed. On the other hand, an electric field applied in a direction parallel to the surface normal introduces considerable disorder in the system and the oxygen atoms are buried inside. The parallel field affects the overall tilt structure of SAMs more adversely than the antiparallel field. 相似文献

The ethanol extract of the dried, powdered hull portion of Ricinus communis seeds indicated the presence of alkaloids, steroids, flavonoids, glycosides and phenolics, amongst others. Ricinine was isolated as an active constituent and characterised by various chemical and spectroscopic techniques. The anticonvulsant activity of the isolated compound was evaluated in mice using the maximal electroshock (MES) model. The isolated compound at a dose of 60?mg?kg?1 body weight, orally, significantly (p?0.05) reduced the extensor tonus phase of convulsion by MES-induced seizures in albino mice when compared with the standard drug diazepam (30?mg?kg?1 body weight, orally). New calix[4]arene derivative 1 of 1,3-alternate conformation with a ureido moiety has been synthesized in high yield and examined for its anion recognition abilities towards anions such as fluoride, chloride, bromide, iodide, nitrate and acetate by 1H NMR and UV-vis spectroscopy. The results show that receptor has strong binding affinity for chloride ions. A chloride ion selective electrode (ISE) was also formed which showed excellent selectivity over all the other anions tested. The limit of detection is 2.51 × 10−5 mol dm−3. 相似文献

In this study, a novel series of 5‐piperazinethiazole 2,2‐dimethylbutanoic acid and 5‐piperidinethiazole 2,2‐dimethylbutanoic acid derivatives have been synthesized. Iron is one of the most abundant elements in the Universe and Earth’s surfaces, and undergoes a redox change of approximately 0.77 mV in changing between its +2 and +3 states. Many contemporary terrestrial organisms are deeply connected to inorganic geochemistry via exploitation of this redox change, and iron redox reactions and catalysis are known to cause significant changes in the course of complex abiotic reactions. These observations point to the question of whether iron may have steered prebiotic chemistry during the emergence of life. Using kinetically naive in silico reaction modeling we explored the potential effects of iron ions on complex reaction networks of prebiotic interest, namely the formose reaction, the complexifying degradation reaction of pyruvic acid in water, glucose degradation, and the Maillard reaction. We find that iron ions produce significant changes in the connectivity of various known diversity-generating reaction networks of proposed prebiotic significance, generally significantly diversifying novel molecular products by ~20%, but also adding the potential for kinetic effects that could allow iron to steer prebiotic chemistry in marked ways. 相似文献
