Vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) spectroscopy was applied to study the stereochemical properties of a star-burst type tetranuclear Ru(III) complex, Δ-(or Λ-)[{Δ-(or Λ-)-Ru(III)(acac)(2)(taet)}(3)Ru(III)] (acac = acetylacetonato; taet = tetraacetylethanato). By comparing the VCD spectra of eight diastereomeric enantiomers, it was shown that the spectra reflected the homo- or hetero-chiral nature of the bridging part connecting the central core and the peripheral region.  相似文献

Bis(pyridine)[meso-tetrakis(heptafluoropropyl)porphyrinato]iron(III), [Fe(THFPrP)Py(2)](+), was reported to be the low-spin complex that adopts the purest (d(xz), d(yz))(4)(d(xy))(1) ground state where the energy gap between the iron d(xy) and d(π)(d(xz), d(yz)) orbitals is larger than the corresponding energy gaps of any other complexes reported previously (Moore, K. T.; Fletcher, J. T.; Therien, M. J. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1999, 121, 5196-5209). Although the highly ruffled porphyrin core expected for this complex contributes to the stabilization of the (d(xz), d(yz))(4)(d(xy))(1) ground state, the strongly electron withdrawing C(3)F(7) groups at the meso positions should stabilize the (d(xy))(2)(d(xz), d(yz))(3) ground state. Thus, we have reexamined the electronic structure of [Fe(THFPrP)Py(2)](+) by means of (1)H NMR, (19)F NMR, and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. The CD(2)Cl(2) solution of [Fe(THFPrP)Py(2)](+) shows the pyrrole-H signal at -10.25 ppm (298 K) in (1)H NMR, the CF(2)(α) signal at -74.6 ppm (298 K) in (19)F NMR, and the large g(max) type signal at g = 3.16 (4.2 K) in the EPR. Thus, contrary to the previous report, the complex is unambiguously shown to adopt the (d(xy))(2)(d(xz), d(yz))(3) ground state. Comparison of the spectroscopic data of a series of [Fe(THFPrP)L(2)](+) with those of the corresponding meso-tetrapropylporphyrin complexes [Fe(TPrP)L(2)](+) with various axial ligands (L) has shown that the meso-C(3)F(7) groups stabilize the (d(xy))(2)(d(xz), d(yz))(3) ground state. Therefore, it is clear that the less common (d(xz), d(yz))(4)(d(xy))(1) ground state can be stabilized by the three major factors: (i) axial ligand with low-lying π* orbitals, (ii) ruffled porphyrin ring, and (iii) electron donating substituent at the meso position.  相似文献

The total cross section has been measured for ω meson photoproduction on the proton for the center-of-mass energy ${\sqrt{s}}$ ranging from 1.69 to 1.75 GeV. Including the subthreshold region of ω photoproduction, a set of about 40 data points has been obtained with a fine energy step of 1–2 MeV. The data set enables us to deduce the ω-N scattering length.  相似文献

We study the electronic structure of Mott-Hubbard systems SrVO3 and CaVO3 with bulk and surface-sensitive high-resolution photoemission spectroscopy, using a vacuum ultraviolet laser, synchrotron radiation, and a discharge lamp (hv = 7-21 eV). A systematic suppression of the density of states (DOS) within approximately 0.2 eV of the Fermi level (EF) is found on decreasing photon energy, i.e., on increasing bulk sensitivity. The coherent band in SrVO3 and CaVO3 is shown to consist of surface and bulk-derived features, separated in energy. The stronger distortion on surface of CaVO3 compared to SrVO3 leads to a higher surface metallicity in the coherent DOS at EF, consistent with recent theory.  相似文献

Access to metallobacteriochlorins is essential for investigation of a wide variety of fundamental photochemical processes, yet relatively few synthetic metallobacteriochlorins have been prepared. Members of a set of synthetic bacteriochlorins bearing 0-4 carbonyl groups (1, 2, or 4 carboethoxy substituents, or an annulated imide moiety) were examined under two conditions: (i) standard conditions for zincation of porphyrins [Zn(OAc)(2)·2H(2)O in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) at 60-80 °C], and (ii) treatment in tetrahydrofuran (THF) with a strong base [e.g., NaH or lithium diisopropylamide (LDA)] followed by a metal reagent MX(n). Zincation of bacteriochlorins that bear 2-4 carbonyl groups proceeded under the former method whereas those with 0-2 carbonyl groups proceeded with NaH or LDA/THF followed by Zn(OTf)(2). The scope of metalation (via NaH or LDA in THF) is as follows: (a) for bacteriochlorins that bear two electron-releasing aryl groups, M = Cu, Zn, Pd, and InCl (but not Mg, Al, Ni, Sn, or Au); (b) for bacteriochlorins that bear two carboethoxy groups, M = Ni, Cu, Zn, Pd, Cd, InCl, and Sn (but not Mg, Al, or Au); and (c) a bacteriochlorin with four carboethoxy groups was metalated with Mg (other metals were not examined). Altogether, 15 metallobacteriochlorins were isolated and characterized. Single-crystal X-ray analysis of 8,8,18,18-tetramethylbacteriochlorin reveals the core geometry provided by the four nitrogen atoms is rectangular; the difference in length of the two sides is ~0.08 ?. Electronic characteristics of (metal-free) bacteriochlorins were probed through electrochemical measurements along with density functional theory calculation of the energies of the frontier molecular orbitals. The photophysical properties (fluorescence yields, triplet yields, singlet and triplet excited-state lifetimes) of the zinc bacteriochlorins are generally similar to those of the metal-free analogues, and to those of the native chromophores bacteriochlorophyll a and bacteriopheophytin a. The availability of diverse metallobacteriochlorins should prove useful in a variety of fundamental photochemical studies and applications.  相似文献

A natural compactification of the virtual configuration space of N points on the Riemann sphere  is constructed by using cross-ratios. We show that this compactification is homeomorphic to the Bers' compactification of the virtual moduli space of a punctured Riemann sphere of type N . In particular, the system of global and explicit coordinates of this standard compactification is given by cross-ratios.  相似文献

Repair glycosylases locate and excise damaged bases from DNA, playing central roles in preservation of the genome and prevention of disease. Two key glycosylases, Fpg and hOGG1, function to remove the mutagenic oxidized base 8-oxoG (OG) from DNA. To investigate the relative contributions of conformational preferences, leaving group ability, enzyme-base hydrogen bonding, and nucleobase shape on damage recognition by these glycosylases, a series of four substituted indole nucleosides, based on the parent OG nonpolar isostere 2Cl-4F-indole, were tested as possible direct substrates of these enzymes in the context of 30 base pair duplexes paired with C. Surprisingly, single-turnover experiments revealed that Fpg-catalyzed base removal activity of two of the nonpolar analogs was superior to the native OG substrate. The hOGG1 glycosylase was also found to catalyze removal of three of the nonpolar analogs, albeit considerably less efficiently than removal of OG. Of note, the analog that was completely resistant to hOGG1-catalyzed excision has a chloro-substituent at the position of NH7 of OG, implicating the importance of recognition of this position in catalysis. Both hOGG1 and Fpg retained high affinity for the duplexes containing the nonpolar isosteres. These studies show that hydrogen bonds between base and enzyme are not needed for efficient damage recognition and repair by Fpg and underscore the importance of facile extrusion from the helix in its damaged base selection. In contrast, damage removal by hOGG1 is sensitive to both hydrogen bonding groups and nucleobase shape. The relative rates of excision of the analogs with the two glycosylases highlight key differences in their mechanisms of damaged base recognition and removal.  相似文献
