The indirect method of determining astrophysical nuclear reaction rates is discussed. The overall normalization of the astrophysical S-factor for such reactions may be determined from one quantity, the asymptotic normalization coefficient of the overlap function of the bound state wave functions for the initial and final channels. These coefficients can be found also from peripheral transfer reactions whose amplitudes are determined by the same overlap function as the amplitudes of the corresponding astrophysical radiative capture processes. The technique of single atom manipulation by means of the scanning tunneling microscope (STM) applies to the controlled displacement of large molecules. By a combined experimental and theoretical work, we show that in a constant height mode of manipulation the STM current intensity carries detailed information on the internal mechanics of the molecule when guided by the STM tip. Controlling and time following the intramolecular behavior of a large molecule on a surface is the first step towards the design of molecular tunnel-wired nanorobots. 相似文献

Chaotic optical communication with fast chaotic pulsing semiconductor lasers is experimentally demonstrated. Both a pulse stream at a 500-MHz repetition rate and a pseudorandom bit sequence at a 2.5-Gbit/s bit rate are successfully transmitted. The quality of synchronization in a chaos-modulation scheme is examined. The quality of message recovery is correlated to the quality of chaos synchronization. 相似文献

Power spectra of density variability for sandy sediments offshore Panama City, Florida, are estimated and modeled using digital x-ray computed tomography images of sediment structure. Spectral analysis reveals that while shell pieces and mud mixtures are the main contributors to density variability at large scales, intrinsic density variability associated with sand grain contacts dominates at small scales. The power spectrum of sandy sediments is modeled by an analytic form that consists of two power-law components, one associated with the shell and mud contributions and the other with the intrinsic density variability of sand. The dominant term has a much higher power-law exponent than previously reported. Implications for the scattering of high-frequency sound in sandy sediments are discussed. 相似文献

Ultrasound echoes from organs such as the liver display resolvable periodicity due to regular scattering centers within tissue. The spacing among such scattering centers has been proposed as a signature to characterize diffuse and focal diseases of the liver. Even though it is highly desirable to be able to estimate an inter-scatterer-spacing (ISS) distribution, current methods can estimate only the mean value of scatterer spacing (MSS) over a tissue length. In this paper, we propose a wavelet transform-based technique that is capable of estimating the location of each scattering center, making it possible to obtain the ISS distribution. We represent liver tissue with a point scatterer model, and show, via computer simulations, that the use of multi-scale information in the wavelet scale-space allows us to estimate the locations of regular scattering centers. We show that both the observation noise and random ultrasound returns from unresolvable tissue microstructure can be removed successfully in the wavelet domain via the properties of the modulus maxima sequence of observation across different scales. 相似文献

考虑环形束流的空间电荷效应与相对论状态下的自磁效应对离子通道——环形束流系统的影响,研究了通道中环形束流的轨道与场解的自洽平衡态.利用动力学理论得到了电子平衡态分布函数以及环形束流的径向位置和通道内电磁场的自洽解.研究发现,相对论束流的自场对系统平衡态有很大影响,并证实了系统自洽平衡态的存在.数值计算给出了束流位置与通道半径间随能量的分布关系以及通道内场随半径分布的规律,为相关器件的设计提供了重要的理论数据.
