Real-time observation of a morphologies of a multi-component tubular giant vesicle (tGV), which is a self-assembly composed of plural amphiphiles with different packing parameters, was carried out under application of a magnetic field. A tGV, one of the terminals of which was fixed to a bottom of a cell, exhibited the bending deformation under a magnetic field along the perpendicular direction of the long axis. Moreover, the hysteretic behavior in this deformation was observed associated with the increase and decrease of the magnetic fields repeatedly, regardless of the presence or absence of a paramagnetic species. To understand the hysteretic behavior, the molecular cooperative effect, which stabilizes the bending deformation by replacing of the plural kinds of amphiphiles with different packing parameters within a membrane, must be taken into consideration.  相似文献

Sponge-like material was utilized as novel chromatographic media for high throughput analyses. The pore size of the sponge-like material was several dozen micrometer, and was named spongy monolith because it consists of continuous structured copolymers, which was made of poly(ethylene-co-vinyl acetate), such as monolithic materials including silica monoliths and organic polymer monoliths. The spongy monolith was packed into a stainless steel column (100 mm × 4.6 mm I.D.) and evaluated in liquid chromatography (LC) with an on-line column-switching LC concentration system. The results indicate that the packed column could be used with high flow rates and low back pressure (9.0 mL/min at 0.5 MPa). Furthermore, bisphenol A was quantitatively recovered by on-line column-switching LC concentration with the spongy monolithic column. Additionally, the adsorption capacity and physical strength of the media was enhanced via chemical modification of spongy monoliths using glycerol dimethacrylate. The results compared with original spongy monolith demonstrated that a higher adsorption capacity was achieved on a shorter column, and a stable low back pressure was obtained at high throughput elution even with a longer column.  相似文献

The transport properties of several LiF-NaF-ZrF4 mixtures have been determined. Our work primarily consisted in the determination of the electrical conductivity from experimental measurements and from computer simulations. A good agreement was observed between both approaches. The simulations are based on the molecular dynamics technique and they employ a polarizable interaction potential, which was parameterized from first-principles calculations only. The diffusion coefficients were also determined from the simulations, which allowed us to understand the mechanisms responsible for the variations of electrical conductivity with temperature and composition of the melt.  相似文献

Forty-eight derivatives of phorbol (9) and isophorbol (14) were evaluated for their inhibition of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1 induced cytopathic effects (CPE) on MT-4 cells, as well as their activation of protein kinase C (PKC), as indices of anti-HIV-1 and tumor promoting activities, respectively. Of these compounds, the most potent inhibition of CPE was observed in 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol 13-acetate (8) and 12-O-acetylphorbol 13-decanoate (6). The former also showed the strongest PKC activation activity, while the latter showed no activity at 10 ng/ml. Both activities were generally observed in those phorbol derivatives with an A/B trans configuration, but not in the isophorbol derivatives with an A/B cis configuration. Acetylation of 20-OH in the phorbol derivatives significantly reduced the inhibition of CPE, as shown in 12-O-, 20-O-diacetylphorbol 13-decanoate (6a) (IC100=15.6 microg/ml) vs. compound 6 (IC100=0.0076 microg/ml), and 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol 13,20-diacetate (8a) (IC100=15.6 microg/ml) vs. 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol 13-acetate (8) (IC100=0.00048 microg/ml), except in the case of 12-O-decanoylphorbol 13-(2-methylbutyrate) (4) and phorbol 12,13-diacetate (9c). The reduction of a carbonyl group at C-3 abruptly reduced the inhibition of CPE, as observed in 3beta-hydroxyphorbol 12,13,20-triacetate (9f) (IC100=500 microg/ml) vs. phorbol 12,13,20-triacetate (9d) (IC100=62.5 microg/ml). Although 8 was equipotent in the inhibition of CPE, and activation of PKC, both activities were abruptly decreased by the acetylation of 20-OH and methylation of 4-OH [as in 8a and 4-O-methyl-12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol 13,20-diacetate (8b), respectively]. On the other hand, its positional isomer (12-O-acetylphorbol 13-tetradecanoate (8c) showed neither activities. The removal of a long acyl group in 8 led to a substantial loss of both activities, as shown in phorbol 13-acetate (9b). Of the 12-O-acetyl-13-O-acylphorbol derivatives, the highest inhibition of CPE was observed in 6, which has a dodecanoyl residue at C-13. Both an increase and decrease in the number of fatty acid carbon chains resulted in significant reduction of the inhibition of CPE.  相似文献

In this paper a piecewise linear finite element approximation of -surfaces, or surfaces with constant mean curvature, spanned by a given Jordan curve in is considered. It is proved that the finite element -surfaces converge to the exact -surfaces under the condition that the Jordan curve is rectifiable. Several numerical examples are given.

The ionophore N,N,N,N-tetracyclohexyl-1,2-phenylenedioxydiacetamide (4) shows higher lipophilicity and superior Na+/K+ selectivity than the previously described N,N-dibenzyl-N,N-diphenyl-1,2-phenylenedioxydiacetamide (2). Single-crystal mats of ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene can be drawn uniformly to high draw ratios, more than 20χ at the highest, after the necking process is completed. The dynamic mechanical modulus of the drawn mats increases markedly during the uniform drawing stage. The structural changes induced by the uniform drawing at 100°C have been followed by wide-angle and small-angle x-ray scattering, infrared absorption, differential scanning calorimetry, and birefringence. The crystallinity is estimated from the x-ray amorphous scattering intensity, the IR absorbance of gauche bands, the heat of fusion from DSC, and the density. The estimated crystallinities of the drawn mats are all very high and increase slightly and monotonically with increased drawing after necking, though the values of the crystallinity depend on the method of estimation. IR gauche bands and the SAXS peak due to the long period disappear at a draw ratio of about 80χ. All the results suggest that the uniform drawing after necking destroys the two-phase structure made up of alternately stacked crystalline and amorphous regions and then reorganizes it into a single-phase crystalline structure.  相似文献
