The behavior of viologen polymer (P-V2+) as an electron transfer catalyst in the reaction of hydrogen generation was studied. The present work aims at modeling the entire convection flux \(\overline {\rho \mathbf {u}W}\) in the transport equation for a mean reaction rate \(\overline {\rho W}\) in a turbulent flow, which (equation) was recently put forward by the present authors. In order to model the flux, several simple closure relations are developed by introducing flow velocity conditioned to reaction zone and interpolating this velocity between two limit expressions suggested for the leading and trailing edges of the mean flame brush. Subsequently, the proposed simple closure relations for \(\overline {\rho \mathbf {u}W}\) are assessed by processing two sets of data obtained in earlier 3D Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) studies of adiabatic, statistically planar, turbulent, premixed, single-step-chemistry flames characterized by unity Lewis number. One dataset consists of three cases characterized by different density ratios and is associated with the flamelet regime of premixed turbulent combustion. Another dataset consists of four cases characterized by different low Damköhler and large Karlovitz numbers. Accordingly, this dataset is associated with the thin reaction zone regime of premixed turbulent combustion. Under conditions of the former DNS, difference in the entire, \(\overline {\rho {u}W}\), and mean, \(\tilde {u}\overline {\rho W}\), convection fluxes is well pronounced, with the turbulent flux, \(\overline {\rho u^{\prime \prime }W^{\prime \prime }}\), showing countergradient behavior in a large part of the mean flame brush. Accordingly, the gradient diffusion closure of the turbulent flux is not valid under such conditions, but some proposed simple closure relations allow us to predict the entire flux \(\overline {\rho \mathbf {u}W}\) reasonably well. Under conditions of the latter DNS, the difference in the entire and mean convection fluxes is less pronounced, with the aforementioned simple closure relations still resulting in sufficiently good agreement with the DNS data. 相似文献

Fluorine-doped silica glasses are produced by the sol-gel method for optical fiber preforms. In order to dope fluorine into silica glass, fluorinated silicon alkoxide, Si(OC2H5)3F, is titrated into SiO2 sol solutions. The fluorine content in silica glass depends on: the fluorine concentration in the gel, the specific surface area of SiO2 particles and the heating rate in the sintering process. Fluorine-doped silica glass with a maximum relative refractive index difference of −0.93% is obtained. Using this technique, optical fibers with a triangular refractive index profile are fabricated with a minimum optical loss of 1.6 dB/km at 1.69 μm wavelength. 相似文献

Naphthalene diimides (NDIs) are promising candidate for electron acceptors due to their low-lying HOMOs and LUMOs. The functinalization of soluble NDIs at the 2,6-position affects the absorption and electrochemical properties. In this study, NDI-based hybrid dyes NDI-SQ-A, B fused with squaraine chromophore were designed and synthesized in order to elucidate the effects of the substitution on their optical and electrochemical properties. These dyes were successfully synthesized by Stille coupling reactions using 3-stannylcyclobutenediones and brominated NDI derivative, followed by a condensation reaction. DFT calculation predicts that the present dyes adopt distorted structures coming from a steric hindrance between semisquaraine and NDI moieties. The hybrid dyes show low-lying LUMOs due to the introduction of electron-deficient NDI moiety and broad absorption spectra in the far-red region. The absorption spectra of their thin films were bathochromically shifted relative to those in solution, indicating that hybrid dyes formed J aggregates. 相似文献

InGaAs/InAlAs ridge quantum wires were successfully fabricated by selective molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) for the first time. Prior to wire fabrication, detailed data on selective growth characteristics were taken by using test structures. Then, triangular shaped InGaAs ridge quantum wires with a width of 300 å were fabricated, using the selectivity data. Photoluminescence (PL) measurements detected a strong and narrow peak from the wires which showed a blue shift of 159 meV with respect to the InGaAs band-gap. A small quantity of cuprous iodide (less than 30 mg) was reduced by hydrogen at 650 or 700°C for various periods of time (15 sec to 4 min) and quenched to interrupt whisker growth. This was done in order to examine the nature of the growth of copper whiskers. Scanning electron microscopic observation and X-ray microanalysis revealed that almost all the whiskers quenched after the growth for 30 sec or less had cuprous iodide droplets at their tips and also the lateral surfaces were covered by thin cuprous iodide layers. The manner in which the copper crystals grow is similar to growth by the droplet mechanism or by the VLS mechanism in that the nutrient is supplied by a liquid drop on the tip of the whisker. Whiskers thicken during and after the growth in length. The whiskers quenched after the growth for 1 min or more had well-developed lateral surfaces and did not have the droplets at the tips. Preferential condensation and reduction were found to occur at the whisker edges. Based on the observed facts, a growth mechanism is presented. Secondary whisker growth on the whisker tips was also investigated. 相似文献
