Moreover, we extend it to multi-variable matrices means.     

Persistent Dialkylsilanone Generated by Dehydrobromination of Dialkylbromosilanol

A persistent dialkylsilanone was synthesized by the dehydrobromination of a dialkylbromosilanol with tris(trimethylsilyl)silyl potassium in solution at ?80 °C: It was characterized by NMR and IR spectroscopy, and was tested in several reactions. In ²⁹Si NMR spectrum in [D₈]toluene, the signal due to the unsaturated silicon nuclei was observed at 128.7 ppm. Reactions of the dialkylsilanone with water and mesitonitrile oxide gave a silanediol and a [2+3] cycloadduct, respectively. The silanone remains intact in [D₈]toluene below ?80 °C for at least two days, while it undergoes unprecedented isomerization to give a siloxysilene by means of 1,3‐silyl migration at higher temperatures.     

Design of chiral bis-phosphoric acid catalyst derived from (R)-3,3'-di(2-hydroxy-3-arylphenyl)binaphthol: catalytic enantioselective Diels-Alder reaction of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes with amidodienes

Chiral bis-phosphoric acid 1 was designed to identify a new class of structural features in chiral Br?nsted acid catalysts. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed the single atropisomer 1, bearing S axial chirality at 3,3'-biaryl substituents on (R)-binaphthyl and intramolecular hydrogen bonding between the two phosphoric acid moieties. The newly designed bis-phosphoric acid 1 was evaluated in the Diels-Alder reaction of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes 4 with 1-N-acylamino-1,3-butadienes 3. After systematic variation of the catalyst substituents, as well as the N-acyl substituents of 1,3-butadiene, the use of an N-Cbz amidodiene 3a in the presence of bis-phosphoric acid 1e with a 2,4,6-tri-isopropylphenyl group was found to be optimal to yield the 1S,6R enantiomeric product 5aa in a Diels-Alder reaction of acrolein (4a). Application of this method to substituted substrates was found to be an efficient approach to the enantioselective synthesis of 3- and 3,6-substituted cyclic formylcarbamates 5. The specific character as well as the utility of 1e was further established by comparing its enantioselectivity, absolute stereochemistry, and catalytic efficiency with those of mono-phosphoric acid 2.     

Palladium-catalyzed cross coupling reaction of N-alkoxyimidoyl bromides and its application to one-pot synthesis of N-arylamines

The synthetic utility of N-alkoxyimidoyl halides is demonstrated using the palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction. The Sonogashira and Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reactions of N-alkoxyimidoyl bromides produced versatile ketoxime ethers in good to excellent yields. A one-pot reaction of the imidoyl bromides with arylboronic acid and allylmagnesium bromide to produce N-arylamines via Suzuki-Miyaura coupling followed by domino reaction involving sequential addition-eliminative rearrangement-addition reactions was developed.     

Spatiotemporally controlled contraction of micropatterned skeletal muscle cells on a hydrogel sheet

We have developed gel sheet-supported C(2)C(12) myotube micropatterns and combined them with a microelectrode array chip to afford a skeletal muscle cell-based bioassay system. Myotube line patterns cultured on a glass substrate were transferred with 100% efficiency to the surface of fibrin gel sheets. The contractile behavior of each myotube line pattern on the gel was individually controlled by localized electrical stimulation using microelectrode arrays that had been previously modified with electropolymerized poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT). We successfully demonstrated fluorescent imaging of the contraction-induced translocation of the glucose transporter, GLUT4, from intracellular vesicles to the plasma membrane of the myotubes. This device is applicable for the bioassay of contraction-induced metabolic alterations in a skeletal muscle cell.     

Methods for imaging and analyses of intracellular organelles using fluorescent and luminescent proteins.

One of the important features of eukaryotic cells is the presence of intracellular compartments, organelles. Each organelle plays an essential role in the organelle-specific function; each cooperates with others for maintaining the vital activity of living cells. To analyze the organelle-specific functions, researchers have used many fluorescent and luminescent reporter proteins extensively. The reporter proteins have provided unprecedented insights into the movement of proteins and their interactions in the organelles. In this review, we summarize recently validated methods for visualizing protein localization, dynamics and protein-protein interactions, and for identifying a series of proteins localized in organelles using newly developed reporter proteins.     

Measurements of velocity distributions with a laser doppler imaging system

A laser Doppler imaging system with a TV camera has been constructed and velocity distributions of fluid flow in cross sections of a rectangular channel have been measured. Consequently, it has been found that the system has some advantages in comparison with usual laser Doppler velocimeters, for example, the visualization of flow can be easily achieved.     

Pre-filtering Effect in an Iterative Deconvolution Method and Its Application to Signal Recovery in Fiber-Optic Distributed Temperature Sensors

The signal quality of a fiber-optic distributed temperature sensor based on optical time domain reflectometry (OTDR) is improved using a pre-filtering technique in the iterative deconvolution method. Investigation of the performance is proposed using iteration conditions in which recovery rate of the signal-component is equal to that of the unfiltering technique. The recovered signal in the pre-filtering technique gives a good signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), 3 times of the unfiltered signal. Consequently, improvements in the OTDR signal with SNR of from 10 to 100 are obtained under the iterations for both distance and temperature resolutions.     

A missing allene of heavy Group 14 elements: 2-germadisilaallene

The first stable 2-germadisilaallene was synthesized by the reduction of a 2 ratio 1 mixture of a stable dialkylsilylene and dichlorogermylene-dioxane complex with KC8; the 2-germadisilaallene showed dynamic disorder similar to the corresponding trisilaallene in the solid state.
