We have observed lasing in a complicated eigenmode of a quasi-stadium laser diode with an unstable resonator consisting of two curved end mirrors obeying an unstable resonator condition and two straight sidewall mirrors. The laser was fabricated by application of a reactive-ion-etching technique to a molecular beam epitaxy-grown graded-index separate-confinement heterostructure single-quantum-well GaAs/AlGaAs structure. The far-field pattern shows that the lasing mode corresponds to the complicated lowest-loss mode obtained numerically by an extended Fox-Li method. 相似文献

The exciton properties of thin nanotube structures are investigated theoretically. Anisotropic size dependencies have been found in the exciton binding energy, the kinetic energy for the relative motions of an electron and a hole, and the wavefunction. These anisotropies arise from the different boundary conditions in the tube-length and circumferential directions, namely, the topological features of nanotubes. We also found that it is possible to change the topology of exciton wavefunctions by varying the tube-length and the tube-radius. These findings suggest that the optical properties of nanotubes such as oscillator strength or nonlinear susceptibilities can be controlled by tuning the structural parameters, thus yielding a novel guiding principle for designing optical functional materials. 相似文献

We consider a parallel profile model which is useful in analyzing parallel growth curves of several groups. The likelihood ratio criterion for a hypothesis concerning the adequacy of a random-effects covariance structure is obtained under the parallel profile model. The likelihood ratio criterion for the hypothesis in the general one-way MANOVA model is also obtained. Asymptotic null distributions of the criteria are derived when the sample size is large. Twenty-two flavonoids were isolated from the leaves and stems of Sedum japonicum subsp. oryzifolium (Crassulaceae). Of these compounds, five flavonoids were reported in nature for the first time, and identified as herbacetin 3-O-xyloside-8-O-glucoside, herbacetin 3-O-glucoside-8-O-(2′′′-acetylxyloside), gossypetin 3-O-glucoside-8-O-arabinoside, gossypetin 3-O-glucoside-8-O-(2′′′-acetylxyloside) and hibiscetin 3-O-glucoside-8-O-arabinoside via UV, HR-MS, LC-MS, acid hydrolysis and NMR. Other seventeen known flavonoids were identified as herbacetin 3-O-glucoside-8-O-arabinoside, herbacetin 3-O-glucoside-8-O-xyloside, gossypetin 3-O-glucoside-8-O-xyloside, quercetin, quercetin 3-O-glucoside, quercetin 3-O-xylosyl-(1→2)-rhamnoside-7-O-rhamnoside, quercetin 3-O-rhamnoside-7-O-glucoside, kaempferol, kaempferol 3-O-glucoside, kaempferol 7-O-rhamnoside, kaempferol 3,7-di-O-rhamnoside, kaempferol 3-O-glucoside-7-O-rhamnoside, kaempferol 3-O-glucosyl-(1→2)-rhamnoside-7-O-rhamnoside, kaempferol 3-O-xylosyl-(1→2)-rhamnoside, kaempferol 3-O-xylosyl-(1→2)-rhamnoside-7-O-rhamnoside, myricetin 3-O-glucoside and cyanidin 3-O-glucoside. Some flavonol 3,8-di-O-glycosides were found in Sedum japonicum subsp. oryzifolium as major flavonoids in this survey. They were presumed to be the diagnostic flavonoids in the species. To detect a lectin from soybean, an electrochemical procedure was developed by the use of a labeling of galactosamine. Because the lectin has binding sites to galactosamine, galactosamine labeled with daunomycin having electroactivity was prepared. When labeled galactosamine (LG) combines with lectin, the part of daunomycin is taken in the binding sites of the lectin and becomes electroinactive. Therefore, the concentration of the lectin can be estimated by measuring the peak current of the LG. On the other hand, a competitive reaction to the lectin of galactosamine and the LG makes a detection of galactosamine possible. This method has merit that does not require a separation procedure of the free LG from the bound one. An effect of length of spacer between daunomycin and galactosamine was also investigated. It was found that adsorption of reagent on the electrode increased due to introduction of the spacer. Furthermore, the electrode response of the LG was influenced by the type of the spacer. 相似文献

Gingipains are trypsin-like cysteine proteinases produced by Porphyromonas gingivalis, a major causative bacterium of adult periodontitis. Rgps (HRgpA and RgpB) and Kgp are specific for -Arg-Xaa- and -Lys-Xaa- peptide bonds, respectively. HRgpA and Kgp are non-covalent complexes containing separate catalytic and adhesion/hemagglutinin domains, while RgpB has only a catalytic domain with a primary structure essentially identical to that of the cata-lytic subunit of HRgpA. The multiple virulence activities of gingipains are reviewed in view of the biphasic mechanisms: activation and inactivation of host proteins. Rgps enhanced vascular permeability through prekallikrein activation or direct bradykinin release in combination with Kgp. This Rgp action is potentially associated with gingival edema and crevicular fluid production. Rgps activate the blood coagulation system, leading to progression of inflammation and consequent alveolar bone loss in the periodontitis site. Rgps also activate protease-activated receptors and induce platelet aggregation, which, together with the coagulation-inducing activity, may explain an emerging link between periodontitis and cardiovascular disease. Kgp is the most potent fibrinogen/fibrin degrading enzyme of the three gingipains in human plasma, being involved in the bleeding tendency at the diseased gingiva. Gingipains stimulate expression of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) in fibroblasts and activate secreted latent MMPs that can destroy periodontal tissues. Gingipains degrade cytokines, components of the complement system and several receptors, including macrophage CD14, T cell CD4 and CD8, thus perturbing the host-defense systems and thereby facilitating sustained colonization of P. gingivalis. Gingipains are potent virulence factors of P. gingivalis, and in many regards their pathogenic activities constitute new mechanisms of bacterial virulence. 相似文献

We apply multiple-scattering calculations to the analyses of Sn L3-edge X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) spectra for environmental organotin compounds such as SnCl4−nMen, SnCl4−nBtn, and SnCl4−nPhn (n = 0–4) where Me = CH3, Bt = C4H9, and Ph = C6H5. The XANES peak at 3960 eV has rich information on the local structure. Referring to the optimized structures by density functional theory (DFT) calculations, multiple-scattering calculations well explain the observed spectral changes for different “organic extents”. The present study also supports the widely-used semiempirical rule called ‘Natoli’s rule’ for these environmental compounds, which will be useful to use XANES spectra for the practical analytical tools. 相似文献

A novel synthesis route to organic-capped and colloidal ZnO quantum dots (QDs) has been developed. Specifically, zinc-di-t-butoxide and zinc-di-n-butoxide are hydrolyzed by very dilute water (400-600 mass ppm) in hydrophilic benzylamine and polymerized to ZnO by dehydration and/or a butanol elimination reaction. Growth of the ZnO QDs and exchange of the surface capping ligand from the hydroxyl groups and/or benzylamine to the oleylamine occur by heating the colloidal solution after addition of the oleylamine at 100-180°C. The final ZnO QDs with diameters in the range of 3-7 nm are highly dispersible in various organic solvents. The ZnO QDs exhibit the quantum size effect upon UV emission; it was controlled between 3.39 and 3.54 eV in the present study. The defect-related Vis emission decreased and the UV emission becomes dominant when zinc-di-n-butoxide with a 99.99% zinc purity is used as the starting material. The intensity of the photoluminescence UV emission is 1.5 times higher than that of the Vis emission. 相似文献
