Synthesis,Crystal Structure and Photoluminescence Property of Zinc(II), Cadmium(II), and Lead(II) Complexes with Bidentate Ligand: 1‐(1‐Imidazolyl)‐4‐(imidazol‐1‐ylmethyl)benzene (IIMB)

Assembly of bidentate ligand 1‐(1‐imidazolyl)‐4‐(imidazol‐1‐ylmethyl)benzene (IIMB) with varied metal salts of Zn^II, Cd^II and Pb^II provide three new complexes, [Zn(IIMB)₂](ClO₄)₂·2H₂O ( 1 ), [Cd(IIMB)₂(SCN)₂] ( 2 ) and [Pb(IIMB)₂(SCN)](SCN) ( 3 ). Single crystal X‐ray diffraction studies revealed that complexes 1 and 2 display a similar one‐dimensional double stranded chain structure, while complex 3 is a slight distorted rhombohedral grid network with (4,4) topology. The results indicate that the coordination geometry of the metal ion and the counter anion have great impact on the structure of the complexes. In addition, the photoluminescence properties of ligand IIMB and complexes 1 – 3 were studied in the solid state at room temperature.     

Asymptotic behavior of nonoscillatory solutions of nonlinear differential equations with forcing term

Sunto In questo lavoro si studiano il comportamento asintotico delle soluzioni non oscillatorie di una classe di equazioni differenziali di ordine superiore al secondo. In particolare, si dánno condizioni sufficienti perchè tutte le soluzioni, non oscillatorie e limitate, dell’equazione considerata, abbiano per limite lo zero quando la variabile indipendente tende all’infinito.

Synthesis of 8-bromo-5,12-tetracenequinone and 2-bromotetracene derivatives

A series of bromotetracenequinones 1 and bromotetracenes 2 were prepared from 4-bromophthalic anhydride. The parent tetracenequinone 1a and tetracene 2a were sparingly soluble in organic solvents. In contrast, dipropyl-substituted tetracenequinone 1b and tetracene 2b were a little more soluble. Preparation of dihexyl-substituted tetracene 2c proved to be difficult. Sonogashira coupling of 1b with trimethylsilylacetylene afforded the corresponding product.     

First Isolation and Stereochemistry of Optically Active Telluroxides

Optically active telluroxides 1 and 2 were isolated for the first time by means of medium-pressure liquid chromatography using an optically active column. Absolute configuration of the telluroxides (+)-1 and (+)-2 was determined to be R based on their specific rotations and circular dichroism spectra. The configurational lability and mechanism for racemization via an achiral hydrate were clarified by kinetic study and isotope tracer experiment.     

Nonoscillatory solutions of forced differential equations of the second order

We prove that under certain assumptions if lu + b²u = 0, b > 0, where l is an operator Schrödinger equation defined in section 2 and u exp(?br) → 0 as r → ∞ then u?L². This result shows in particular that the resonant states behave exactly as O(r^?1, exp(ikr)) as r → ∞. It also provides dichotomy theorems in a general situation.     

Temporal characteristics of picosecond continuum as revealed by a two-dimensional analysis of streak images

A two-dimensional analysis has been made for streak images of picosecond continua generated in D₂O, CCl₄, saturated aqueous solution of KDP, H₃PO₄ and quartz block. Their pulse width and distribution of arrival time at the streak camera were determined as a function of the wavelength.
