This work develops the theory of the blow-up phenomena for Joseph–Egri equation. The existence of the nonextendable solution of two initial-boundary value problems (on a segment and a half-line) is demonstrated. Sufficient conditions of the finite-time blow-up of these solutions, as well as the analytical estimates of the blow-up time, are obtained. A numerical method that allows to precise the blow-up moment for specified initial data is proposed.  相似文献

A new generalized nonlinear Schr?dinger equation describing the propagation of ultrashort pulses in bulk media exhibiting frequency dependent dielectric susceptibility and magnetic permeability is derived and used to characterize wave propagation in a negative index material. The equation has new features that are distinct from ordinary materials (mu=1): the linear and nonlinear coefficients can be tailored through the linear properties of the medium to attain any combination of signs unachievable in ordinary matter, with significant potential to realize a wide class of solitary waves.  相似文献

We construct supersymmetric Lorentz violating operators for matter and gauge fields. We show that in the supersymmetric standard model the lowest possible dimension for such operators is five, and therefore they are suppressed by at least one power of an ultraviolet energy scale, providing a possible explanation for the smallness of Lorentz violation and its stability against radiative corrections. Supersymmetric Lorentz noninvariant operators do not lead to modifications of dispersion relations at high energies thereby escaping constraints from astrophysical searches for Lorentz violation.  相似文献

Little Higgs models are an interesting extension of the Standard Model at the TeV scale. They provide a simple and attractive mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking. We review one of the simplest models of this class, the Littlest Higgs model, and its extension with T parity. The model with T parity satisfies precision electroweak constraints without fine-tuning, contains an attractive dark matter candidate, and leads to interesting phenomenology at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).  相似文献

Using mutually modulated cross-gain modulation, Stokes optical frequency changes are converted into modulation phase changes with high sensitivity. In the slow-light transition regime, we demonstrate kilohertz sensitivity to the Stokes optical carrier frequency. The sensitivity is inversely proportional to the modulation frequency of the pump and Stokes beams.  相似文献

Heterodyne near-field scanning optical microscopy (H-NSOM) has proven useful as a tool for characterization of both amplitude and phase of on-chip photonic devices in air, but it has previously been unable to characterize devices with a dielectric overcladding, which is commonly used in practice for such devices. Here we demonstrate H-NSOM of a silicon waveguide with a liquid cladding emulating the solid dielectric. This technique allows characterization of practical devices with realistic refractive index profiles. Fourier analysis is used to estimate the effective refractive index of the mode from the measured data, showing an index shift of 0.08 from air to water cladding, which is seen to correspond well to simulations.  相似文献

Light scattered from biological tissues can exhibit an inverse power law spectral component. We develop a model based on the Born approximation and von Karman (self-affine) spatial correlation of submicron tissue refractive index to account for this. The model is applied to light scattering spectra obtained from excised esophagi of normal and carcinogen-treated rats. Power law exponents used to fit dysplastic tissue site spectra are significantly smaller than those from normal sites, indicating that changes in tissue self-affinity can serve as a potential biomarker for precancer.  相似文献
