Electrospun Polyaniline/Poly(ethylene oxide) Composite Nanofibers Based Gas Sensor

Camphor‐10‐sulfonic acid (HCSA) doped polyaniline (PANI)/poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) composite nanofibers with different compositions (12 to 52 wt.% of PANI) were synthesized by an electrospinning method and their properties including optical, electrical and sensing were systematically investigated. FT‐IR shows that an increase of IR absorbance ratios of aromatic C? C stretching vibration of benzenoid rings of PANI to C? O? C symmetric vibrational modes of PEO confirmed that the PANI content in nanofiber mats increased proportionally with increase in PANI content in electrospinning solution. The band gap of PANI was determined to be 2.5 eV using UV‐Vis spectroscopy. The electrical conductivities of the nanofibers increased with an increase in the PANI content in the nanofibers. Additionally, the sensitivity toward NH₃ increased as the PANI content increased, but branched nanofibers reduced sensing response. The humidity sensitivity changed from positive to negative as the PANI content increased. The electron transport mechanism was studied by measuring the temperature dependence electrical resistivity. The negative temperature coefficient of resistance revealed a semiconducting behavior for the PANI/PEO nanofibers. The activation energy, calculated by Arrhenius plot, increased as the PANI content decreased. The power law indicated that electrons were being transported in a three dimensional matrix, and the longer hopping distance required more hopping energy for electron transport.     

Synthesis,spectral, X-ray diffraction and DFT studies on 1-(2-methyl-2-propenyl)-3-(2,3,4,5,6-pentamethylbenzyl)benzimidazolium chloride hydrate

A new benzimidazole based N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) salt (1) was synthesized by the reaction of benzimidazole precursor with alkyl halide. The structure of 1 was determined by elemental analysis, FT-IR, ¹H NMR and ¹³C NMR spectroscopy tecniques and X-ray crystallography. The compound crystallized in the triclinic space group P-1 with two molecules in the unit cell. The optimization of 1 was firstly performed at B3LYP/6-311G++(d,p) level, then the theoretical spectral studies performed and compared with the experimental values. Besides the frontier molecular orbital energies and chemical reactivity analysis of 1, together with the electrostatic potential and molecular electrostatic potential analyses were performed at the same level of theory.     

On rings whose prime ideals are completely prime

We investigate in this paper rings whose proper ideals are 2-primal. We concentrate on the connections between this condition and related concepts to this condition, and several kinds of π-regularities of rings which satisfy this condition. Moreover, we add counterexamples to the situations that occur naturally in the process of this note.     

The exchange bias in MnPd/Co1−xFex bilayers

A systematic study of exchange bias in MnPd/Co and MnPd/Co_1−xFe_x bilayers has been carried out. Very large unidirectional anisotropy constant of 2.2 erg/cm² and the appearance of double-shifted loops, ascribed to the coexistence of positive and negative exchange bias, have been observed. The dependence of exchange bias, unidirectional anisotropy constant and coercivity on thickness, temperature, annealing regime and Fe content has been investigated and discussed.     

Palladium-Catalyzed Coupling Reaction of Iodouracil Having Acetamidine Moiety with Olefins

The reaction of 6-[1-Aza-2-(dimethylamino)prop-l-enyl]-5-iodo-1,3-dimethyluracil (3) with various olefins in the presence of a catalytic amount of Pd(OAc)₂ and 1.5 equiv. of K₂CO₃ in DMF at 120 °C gave the pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine derivatives (5a-b and 7a-d) in moderate to high yield.     

Altered protein profiles in human umbilical cords with preterm and full‐term delivery

Several biomarkers are routinely used clinically for predicting preterm labor; however, these factors are either nonspecific or detected too late. Here, we performed protein profiles in preterm‐ and term‐derived human umbilical cord by using 2DE. Approximately 200 different proteins were identified between preterm‐ and term‐delivered umbilical cords. Among them, 48 proteins were identified. A comparison of preterm proteome to that of term proteome revealed potential candidates for biomarkers, such as hypoxia‐inducible proteins, phosphorylated heat‐shock protein 27 (HSP27), transgelin, vimentin, and transferrin that are specific to preterm umbilical cords. Especially, HSP27 in preterm‐derived umbilical cords shows a significant increase in the mono‐ and tetra‐phosphorylation. The real importance of all of HSP27 phosphorylation as well as hypoxia‐inducible factor 1alpha, and glyceraldehyde 3‐phosphate dehydrogenase require further validation in vitro and in vivo; nevertheless, we believe that they could represent promising diagnostic targets for detection of sudden early delivery. In conclusion, the results of the current study may provide important insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying umbilical cord development.
