Summary Conductance measurements of acidified sodium aluminate solutions showed a gradual drop as the alumina content of the solution increases. This behaviour was explained by adsorption of H+ ions, as visualised from linear plots of ( 0) per mole of alumina against (where 0 is the specific conductance of the corresponding (NaOH + HCl), is the specific conductance of (sodium aluminate + HCl) and is the amount of H+ ions adsorbed per mole of alumina). Transport number experiments showed that alumina behaves as a non-electrolyte and that the transport number of the Cl– ion increases with increase in alumina content. This behaviour was explained on the basis of aggregation of water molecules around alumina.The zero point of charge of colloidally dispersed aluminium hydroxide was determined from potentiometric and conductance measurements.
Zusammenfassung Leitfähigkeitsmessung von angesäuerten Natrium-Aluminat-Lösungen zeigen einen Abfall, wenn der Aluminat-Gehalt der Lösungen wächst. Dieses Verhalten wird durch Adsorption von Wasserstoff-Ionen erklärt, erkennbar aus der linearen Auftragung von ( 0) pro Mol/Aluminat gegen Dabei ist 0 die spezifische Leitfähigkeit der entsprechenden (NaOH + HCl)-Lösung, die spezifische Leitfähigkeit vom Gemisch Natriumaluminat + HCl und der Betrag an Wasserstoffionen, adsorbiert pro Mol/Aluminat. überführungszahl-Experimente zeigen, daß Alumina sich nicht als Elektrolyt verhält und daß die überführungszahl für Cl-Ionen mit dem Alumina-Anteil wächst. Dieses Verhalten wird erklärt auf Grund einer Aggregation von Wassermolekülen um das Alumina.Der Neutralpunkt für Ladung von kolloidal dispergiertem Alumiumhydroxid wurde aus potentiometrischen und Leitfähigkeitsmessungen bestimmt.

 The polymerization of styrene-in-water and methylmeth-acrylate-in-water microemulsions stabilized by nonionic surfactants was investigated using different initiation techniques. Thermally induced initiation was carried out using potassium persulfate (water soluble) and azobisiso-butyronitrile (AIBN) (oil soluble) at 60° and 50°C, respectively. When the monomer concentration was kept below a certain limit, the particle size of the nanolatex was similar to the droplet size of the microemulsion precursor. At higher monomer concentrations, the latex produced was significantly larger than the microemulsion droplets, as a result of the possible coalescence of the microemulsion droplets during polymerization. By using chemically induced polymerization (hydrogen peroxide+ascorbic acid) at temperatures below the cloud point temperature of the microemulsion or by photochemically induced initiation at room temperature, it was possible to obtain nanolatex particles with similar size to the droplets up to 10% monomer content. In all cases, the particle size was determined using photon correlation spectroscopy (PCS). Electron micrographs of the microlatex particles were taken and these confirmed the measurements obtained by PCS. The molecular weight of the polymers produced was determined by gel permeation chromatography. The average number of polymer molecules per particle was calculated. It was shown in some cases that the nanolatex contained one polymer chain per particle. A mechanism was suggested for polymerization and particle growth. The extraction of Fe, Zn and In by La2HCl from H2SO4 solutions has been studied. The formation of the aqueous complexes H2Fe(SO4)2HSO4, HZn(SO4)HSO4 and HInSO4(HSO4)2 is discussed. The formation of mixed ligand species H2Fe(SO4)2Cl, HZnSO4Cl and HInSO4Cl2 from the interaction of Cl+ in aqueous solution or in LA2HCl before extraction is explained. The reactions in the system to produce the extractable species are discussed. The possible separations are given.  相似文献

The non‐photochromic fulgide (1‐Z) has been successfully converted into the highly photochromic ( 3‐Z ) analogue. A dicyanomethylene group was introduced at the 5‐position of 1‐Z in order to enhance the latter's conjugation properties that would facilitate the photochemical Z→E isomerization process. The irradiation of the product 3‐Z with a UV light at λmax 350 nm formed a bluish green solution which absorbed at λmax 620 nm, corresponding to the ring‐closed product 4. The latter was also formed from the reference dicyanomethylene product 3‐E synthesized from 1‐E. The irradiation of 4 at λmax 532 nm produced the reversion to the original pale yellow color of 3‐E.  相似文献

Preventing creaming or sedimentation by the addition of thickeners is an important industrial challenge. We study the effect of the addition of a "free" nonadsorbing polymer (xanthan gum) on the stability against creaming of sterically stabilized O/W emulsions. Therefore, we analyze our samples using microscopy and rheological measurements. At low xanthan concentrations, the emulsions cream. However, above a certain concentration a three-dimensional network of droplets is formed, which can prevent creaming. We attribute the formation of this structure to depletion attraction. The rheological behavior of an emulsion that is macroscopically stable should be elastic, while it should be viscous for a creaming emulsion. In order to distinguish between stable and unstable samples, we measure their relaxation time by mechanical rheology and find a good correlation to the visual observation. However, the measured relaxation times are much shorter than the time-scales, on which we observe creaming. We hypothesize that the measured relaxation time is related to the droplet-droplet interaction. This determines the frequency at which microscopic rearrangements occur, which weaken the network structure prior to creaming. Based on this interpretation, the relaxation time gives direct access to the microstructural processes involved in creaming. We therefore suggest using it as a predictive parameter of creaming stability.  相似文献

The thickness of wetting films on a hydrophilic silica surface was investigated using a microinterferometric technique. Aqueous solutions of hydrophobically modified inulin (INUTEC®SP1) at various concentrations, in the presence or absence of NaCl or Na2SO4, were studied. The equilibrium film thickness (h eq) showed a complex dependence on INUTEC®SP1 concentration. At low electrolyte concentrations, h eq decreased with an increase in INUTEC®SP1 concentration, reaching a minimum at 10?6 mol dm?3. However, at high electrolyte concentrations, this dependence became less pronounced. At any given INUTEC®SP1 concentration, the equilibrium film thickness decreased with an increase in electrolyte concentration as a result of the compression of the electrical double layer reaching a minimum value. After that, the film thickness showed a small decrease with further increase in electrolyte concentration. This indicates that the electrostatic component of disjoining pressure can be neglected, and the steric repulsion of the loops and tails of INUTEC®SP1 determined the film thickness.  相似文献

In the Egyptian society, it is usual until now that females wear extensively gold jewelry since their birth. The present work is carried out to determine gold content in scalp hair samples from some selected female donors of various ages. Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis, with gamma ray spectrometry was applied for this study. The obtained data are compared with the available published data for analysis of hair samples from other countries. The correlation between age and gold concentration in hair samples is discussed. Interpretation of the influence of other factors which possibly may affect the contents of gold in the analyzed hair samples is also presented.  相似文献
