In this paper, we present an efficient implementation of theO(mn + n 2 logn) time algorithm originally proposed by Nagamochi and Ibaraki (1992) for computing the minimum capacity cut of an undirected network. To enhance computation, various ideas are added so that it can contract as many edges as possible in each iteration. To evaluate the performance of the resulting implementation, we conducted extensive computational experiments, and compared the results with that of Padberg and Rinaldi's algorithm (1990), which is currently known as one of the practically fastest programs for this problem. The results indicate that our program is considerably faster than Padberg and Rinaldi's program, and its running time is not significantly affected by the types of the networks being solved.Corresponding author.  相似文献

We present studies on the electric transport in a lateral GaAs/AlGaAs quantum dot defined by a patterned single connected metallic front-gate. This gate design allows to easily couple a large number of quantum dots and therefore holds high potential in the design of new materials with tailor-made band structures based on quantum dot superlattices of controlled shape. Clear Coulomb diamond structures and well pronounced tunneling peaks observed in experiment indicate that single-electron control has been achieved. However, the dependence on electron density in the heterostructure embedding the dot, which is controlled by an additional back-gate, reveals that transport characteristics are strongly influenced supposedly by potential fluctuations in the dot and lead regions.  相似文献

Tutorial review: to achieve molecule-based spintronic devices, an organic conducting magnet that exhibits both conductivity and magnetism in a cooperative manner must be constructed. As a building block for such new materials, a spin-polarized donor radical, which serves as a molecular "spin-filter" in its singly oxidized state, was designed and synthesized. The resistivity of ion radical salts of selenium-substituted, tetrathiafulvalene-based spin-polarized donor radicals decreased substantially in the presence of a magnetic field, thus indicating cooperative conductivity and magnetism.  相似文献

The symmetry of a molecule junction has been shown to play a significant role in determining the conductance of the molecule, but the details of how conductance changes with symmetry have heretofore been unknown. Herein, we investigate a naphthalenedithiol single-molecule system in which sulfur atoms from the molecule are anchored to two facing gold electrodes. In the studied system, the highest single-molecule conductance, for a molecule junction of 1,4-symmetry, is 110 times larger than the lowest single-molecule conductance, for a molecule junction of 2,7-symmetry. We demonstrate clearly that the measured dependence of molecule junction symmetry for single-molecule junctions agrees with theoretical predictions.  相似文献

Glycans are expected to be one of the potential signal molecules for controlling drug targeting/delivery or long-term circulation of biopharmaceuticals. However, the effect of the carbohydrates of artificially glycosylated derivatives on in vivo dynamic distribution profiles after intravenous injection of model animals remains unclear due to the lack of standardized methodology and a suitable platform. We report herein an efficient and versatile method for the preparation of multifunctional quantum dots (QDs) displaying common synthetic glycosides with excellent solubility and long-term stability in aqueous solution without loss of quantum yields. Combined use of an aminooxy-terminated thiol derivative, 11,11'-dithio bis[undec-11-yl 12-(aminooxyacetyl)amino hexa(ethyleneglycol)], and a phosphorylcholine derivative, 11-mercaptoundecylphosphorylcholine, provided QDs with novel functions for the chemical ligation of ketone-functionalized compounds and the prevention of nonspecific protein adsorption concurrently. In vivo near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence imaging of phosphorylcholine self-assembled monolayer (SAM)-coated QDs displaying various simple sugars (glyco-PC-QDs) after administration into the tail vein of the mouse revealed that distinct long-term delocalization over 2 h can be achieved in cases of QDs modified with α-sialic acid residue (Neu5Ac-PC-QDs) and control PC-QDs, while QDs bearing other common sugars, such as α-glucose (Glc-PC-QDs), α-mannose (Man-PC-QDs), α-fucose (Fuc-PC-QDs), lactose (Lac-PC-QDs), β-glucuronic acid (GlcA-PC-QDs), N-acetyl-β-D-glucosamine (GlcNAc-PC-QDs), and N-acetyl-β-D-galactosamine (GalNAc-PC-QDs) residues, accumulated rapidly (5-10 min) in the liver. Sequential enzymatic modifications of GlcNAc-PC-QDs gave Galβ1,4GlcNAc-PC-QDs (LacNAc-PC-QDs), Galβ1,4(Fucα1,3)GlcNAc-PC-QDs (Le(x)-PC-QDs), Neu5Acα2,3Galβ1,4GlcNAc-PC-QDs (sialyl LacNAc-PC-QDs), and Neu5Acα2,3Galβ1,4(Fucα1,3)GlcNAc-PC-QDs (sialyl Le(x)-PC-QDs) in quantitative yield as monitored by direct matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry analyses. Live animal imaging uncovered for the first time that Le(x)-PC-QDs also distributed rapidly in the liver after intravenous injection and almost quenched over 1 h in similar profiles to those of LacNAc-PC-QDs and Lac-PC-QDs. On the other hand, sialyl LacNAc-PC-QDs and sialyl Le(x)-PC-QDs were still retained stably in the whole body after 2 h, while they showed significantly different in vivo dynamics in the tissue distribution, suggesting that structure/sequence of the neighboring sugar residues in the individual sialyl oligosaccharides might influence the final organ-specific distribution. The present results clearly visualize the evidence of an essential role of the terminal sialic acid residue(s) for achieving prolonged in vivo lifetime and biodistribution of various glyco-PC-QDs as a novel class of functional platforms for nanomaterial-based drug targeting/delivery. A standardized protocol using multifunctional PC-QDs should facilitate live animal imaging of ligand-displayed QDs using versatile NIR fluorescence photometry without influence of size-dependent accumulation/excretion pathway for nanoparticles (e.g., viruses) >10 nm in hydrodynamic diameter by the liver.  相似文献

Phase behaviors of the binary mixtures composed of ethylene carbonate (EC) and aliphatic alcohols, ω-phenyl alcohols, and alkylbenzenes were investigated. In addition, heat of solution of EC into these organic solvents was measured. The EC/methanol and EC/ethanol systems gave homogeneous solution at the temperature above their liquidus lines, while the mixtures of EC and alcohols with longer alkyl chain showed a miscibility gap in a liquid phase and provided the monotectic-type phase diagram. The liquid–liquid phase separation region expanded with the increase in the alkyl chain length. A similar phase behavior was also observed for the mixtures of EC and alkylbenzenes. On the other hand, the EC mixtures with ω-phenyl alcohols showed no miscibility gap in a liquid phase at least up to 4-phenylbutan-1-ol which has C4 alkyl chain intervening between phenyl and hydroxyl groups. This result demonstrates that both of the hydroxyl and phenyl groups act to facilitate the mixing of aliphatic compounds with EC. The phase behavior of these EC mixtures was analyzed applying the modified regular solution model in which the pair interaction energy was regarded as free energy. The model calculation with the use of heat of solution of EC at infinite dilution as the pair interaction enthalpy reproduced well both of the experimentally obtained liquidus line and mutual solubility curve as well as monotectic point.  相似文献

The reducing tetrasaccharide TMG-chitotriomycin (1) is an inhibitor of β-N-acetylglucosaminidase (GlcNAcase), produced by the actinomycete Streptomyces anulatus NBRC13369. The inhibitor shows a unique inhibitory spectrum, that is, selectivity toward enzymes from chitin-containing organisms such as insects and fungi. Nevertheless, its structure-selectivity relationship remains to be clarified. In this study, we conducted a structure-guided search of analogues of 1 in order to obtain diverse N,N,N-trimethylglucosaminium (TMG)-containing chitooligosaccharides. In this approach, the specific fragmentation profile of 1 on ESI-MS/MS analysis was used for the selective detection of desired compounds. As a result, two new analogues, named TMG-chitomonomycin (3) and TMG-chitobiomycin (2), were obtained from a culture filtrate of 1-producing Streptomyces. Their enzyme-inhibiting activity revealed that the potency and selectivity depended on the degree of polymerization of the reducing end GlcNAc units. Furthermore, a computational modeling study inspired the inhibitory mechanism of TMG-related compounds as a mimic of the substrate in the Michaelis complex of the GH20 enzyme. This study is an example of the successful application of a MS/MS experiment for structure-guided isolation of natural products.  相似文献

A new S9 family aminopeptidase derived from the actinobacterial thermophile Acidothermus cellulolyticus was cloned and engineered into a transaminopeptidase by site-directed mutagenesis of catalytic Ser(491) into Cys. The engineered biocatalyst, designated aminolysin-A, can catalyze the formation of peptide bonds to give linear homo-oligopeptides, hetero-dipeptides, and cyclic dipeptides using cost-effective substrates in a one-pot reaction. Aminolysin-A can recognize several C-terminal-modified amino acids, including the l- and d-forms, as acyl donors as well as free amines, including amino acids and puromycin aminonucleoside, as acyl acceptors. The absence of amino acid esters prevents the formation of peptides; therefore, the reaction mechanism involves aminolysis and not a reverse reaction of hydrolysis. The aminolysin system will be a beneficial tool for the preparation of structurally diverse peptide mimetics by a simple approach.  相似文献
