The surface of 310 stainless steel (310SS) samples was investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) after 500 h cyclic exposure to two carburizing atmospheres: CH4 (2%)–H2 (98%) at 800 °C, and CH4 (10%)–H2 (90%) at 1100 °C. The depth distribution of various elements in the surface region was obtained by XPS after successive cycles of argon etching. The microstructure of the alloy was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the phases formed during the exposure were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results showed that the major phases that were formed within few micrometer depth during exposure at 800 °C include both iron and chromium carbides. (Mn, Cr) oxide was also formed as a result of the reaction with the residual oxygen of the atmosphere. A region of few microns width that was relatively depleted of chromium was formed under the surface as a result of the outwards diffusion of chromium. The exposure to the reducing atmosphere at 1100 °C led to the formation of various iron and chromium carbides. No oxide was formed during exposure. In all exposed samples, the surface was Cr enriched while nickel remained buried under the surface region that reacted with the atmosphere.  相似文献

Hydrogen Transfer during Decompositions of Molecular Ions of Acetals Derived from Substituted Cyclopentanones and Cyclohexanones The isomerisation process of ethylene-acetal radical ions of low internal energy has been reinvestigated in more detail. The ring contraction of cyclohexane derivatives into methylcyclopentanes is quite general for these ions. The relative rates of [1, n] H transfers to the C free radical resulting from C? Intact noncovalent complexes were studied in the gas phase using negative ion nano-ESI mass spectrometry. Among various noncovalent systems studied in the gas phase, the interaction of DNA strands with peptide nucleic acids (PNAs) presents a strong interest as biologically relevant systems. PNAs originally described by Nielsen are used as DNA mimics as possible medical agents by imprisoning DNA single strands into stable noncovalent complexes. Two types of PNAs were investigated in the PNA/DNA multiplex: the original Nielsen's PNA and a modified backbone PNA by the introduction of syn- and anti-(aminoethyl)thiazolidine rings. We first investigated the stoichiometry of PNA/DNA multiplexes formed in solution and observed them in the gas phase via qualitative kinetics of complementary strand associations. It resulted in observing PNA2/DNA triplexes (ts) as the multiply deprotonated species, most stable in both the solution and gas phase. Second, charge-dependant decompositions of these species were undertaken under low-energy collision conditions. It appears that covalent bond cleavages (base releasing or skeleton cleavage) occur from lower ts charge states rather than ts unzipping, which takes place from higher charge states. This behavior can be explained by considering the presence of zwitterions depending on the charge state. They result in strong salt-bridge interactions between the positively charged PNA side chain and the negatively charged DNA backbone. We propose a general model to clearly display the involved patterns in the noncovalent triplex decompositions. Third, the relative stability of three PNA2/DNA complexes was scrutinized in the gas phase by acquiring the breakdown curves of their ts(6-) form, corresponding to the ts unzipping. The chemical structures of the studied PNAs were chosen in order to evidence the possible influence of backbone stereochemistry on the rigidity of PNA2/DNA complexes. It provided significantly different stabilities via V(m) measurements. The relative gas-phase stability order obtained was compared to that found in solution by Chassaing et al., and shows qualitative agreement.  相似文献

A confirmatory method for detecting five ergot alkaloids, ergocristine, ergotamine, ergonovine, ergocornine and alpha-ergokryptine, in rye flour is described using high performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry detection by monitoring two transition reactions per analyte. The procedure entails a liquid-liquid extraction followed by a clean-up step using a C18 solid-phase extraction (SPE) cartridge. An analogue compound, methysergide hydrogen maleinate, was used to assess both repeatability sample preparation and potential MS response fluctuations. The method was fully validated according to the European Union (EU) criteria. Detection and quantification limits of all analytes were calculated ranging from 7 to 11 microg/kg and from 23 to 37 microg/kg, respectively. Fifteen rye flour samples were investigated with the newly developed method, and none of them were above the current Swiss limits of 200mg/kg for total ergot alkaloids.  相似文献

A ladder of relative proton affinities (PA) for a series of modified uridines (e.g. araU, ddU, 5BrU, 5BrdU and 5IU) was established from competitive dissociations of proton-bound heterodimers using Cooks and co-workers' kinetic method. The studied heterodimers are constituted of a modified nucleoside and either an amino acid or a nucleoside with known PA value. These non-covalent heterodimers were prepared under electrospray conditions to be selected and dissociated into the ion-trap analyzer. These results allowed our PA ladder of uridine and deoxyuridine analogs substituted at the C-5 position in the uracil ring to be extended. From this scale, it was showed that the substitution of hydrogen atom at the C-2' position in the sugar ring by a hydroxyl group involves a decrease of about 7 kJ mol(-1). The experimental values for U, 5MeU, dU, 5MedU, ddU and araU are consistent with those obtained by DFT calculations (B3P86/6-31+G//B3LYP/6-31G(.)). Several neutral and protonated conformations of these compounds were considered, in particular the ring conformation of furanose and the orientation of the base with respect to the sugar ring. These calculated results showed the influence of sugar substituent on the conformation of the neutral form of theses nucleosides. However, the most stable protonated structure is the same for all the studied nucleosides except for araU, where the position of the anti 2'-OH group imposes a specific conformation.  相似文献

A convenient way to study lipid oxidation products-modified proteins by means of suitable model systems has been investigated. As a model peptide, the oxidized B chain of insulin has been chemically modified by either 4-hydroxy-2-nonenal (HNE) or hexanal and the extent, sites, and structure of modifications were assessed by electrospray mass spectrometry. A reduction step, using either NaCNBH(3) or NaBH(4), was also studied to stabilize the alkylated compounds. From the data gathered, it appeared that NaCNBH(3), when added at the beginning of incubation, dramatically influenced the HNE-induced modifications in terms of the addition mechanism (Schiff base formation instead of Michael addition) but also of the amino acid residues modified (N-terminal amino acid instead of histidine residues). However, by reducing the HNE-adducted species at the end of the reaction with NaBH(4), the fragment ions obtained in the product ion scan experiments become more stable and thus, easier to interpret in terms of origin and mechanism involved. With regard to hexanal induced modifications, we have observed that hexanal addition under reductive conditions led to an extensive modification of the peptide backbone. Moreover, as confirmed by "in-source" collision followed by collision induced dissociation (CID) experiments on selected precursor ions (pseudo-MS(3) experiments), N,N-di-alkylations were first observed on the N-terminal residue and further on Lys(29) residue. On the other hand, compared to the native peptide, no significant changes in MS/MS fragmentation patterns (b and y ions series) were observed whatever the basic site modified by the aldehyde-addition.  相似文献

High resolution and metastable decomposition spectra of the ions [M + NH4]+ (and [M + ND4]+) formed by reaction of [NH4]+ (and [ND4]+) with cyclohexanone have been measured. The results provide evidence that the m/z 98 ion, which is abundant in the chemical ionization (NH3) spectrum of cyclohexanone, is in fact composed of two isobaric ions: a protonated imine ion and the molecular ion of cyclohexanone. The former is formed by a mechanism analogous to that occurring in solution.  相似文献

Irradiation effects at low and high laser fluence on 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid large crystals were investigated. Contrary to what was observed for matrices as cinnamic acid derivatives, no chemical degradation of matrix is evidenced and continuous ablation as well as ion production resulted of extended irradiation in all the fluence range corresponding to classical matrix-assisted laser desorption /ionization. Ripples are formed on the base of the crater for a limited number of laser shots under moderate fluence. For extended irradiation, conical shape craters are formed with the axis of the crater oriented along the incident direction of the laser beam. A study of the craters showed that ablation through the ablated volume slowly varied with the laser fluence when a strong increase of ion production (matrix and analyte) was recorded. Ablation volume was found to vary non-linearly with the number of laser shots. On a same spot, the ablated volume and the ion production were measured as a function of the laser energy. With an increasing laser energy (or fluence), the ablated volume slowly increases when the ion production strongly increases. This gives evidence of a decoupling between ablation and ionization. Interaction of the plume with the incoming beam is thus probable.  相似文献

Internal energies and energy distributions were studied using the 'survival yield' method developed previously. In addition to conventional benzylpyridinium salts, protonated esters (fragmenting by rearrangement) and protonated leucine enkephalin were also used, extending the validity of the technique. Fragmentation processes were studied in the cone voltage region and modeled by the RRKM-based MassKinetics program. The results show that the shapes of the energy distributions are similar to thermal distributions. The mean internal energies are very similar for all compound classes studied, and show a linear increase with collision energy in the 10-50 eV region.  相似文献
