CP violation and extra dimensions

It is shown that new sources of CP violation can be generated in models with more than one extra dimension. In the supersymmetric models on the space-time , where the radius moduli have auxiliary vacuum expectation values and the supersymmetry breaking is mediated by the Kaluza–Klein states of the gauge supermultiplets, we analyze the gaugino masses and trilinear couplings for two scenarios and obtain the result that there exist relative CP violating phases among the gaugino masses and trilinear couplings. Metrics of Homogeneous Spaces Admitting (3.1)-Type Complete Sets

A classification has been obtained for spaces which admit complete sets of motion integrals of the (3.1)-type and are spatially homogeneous. The metrics and Killing vectors have been found in explicit form for all types of these spaces. A classification by Bianchi is given for the spaces obtained.     

On the polarization interaction between two closely spaced conducting spheres in a uniform electrostatic field

An electrostatic interaction between two separate, grounded, uncharged, perfectly conducting spheres of different radii in a uniform electrostatic field is investigated. It is shown that at a small center-to-center distance of the spheres, the force of the polarization interaction between the spheres depends appreciably more weakly on that distance in comparison to the force of the electrostatic interaction of two elementary dipoles as it should be in view of the interaction between two like polarization charges.     

Fast and Slow Diffusion of Channelized Particles in Transverse Energy Space

The Fokker–Planck-type kinetic equation is constructed with the help of the evolution equation for the transverse energy of channelized particles, which in its turn is derived beyond the framework of perturbation theory proceeding from the condition of nonconcervation of the adiabatic invariant.     

Single chain force spectroscopy - Reading the sequence of HP protein models

We study the elastic properties of single A/B random copolymer chains, with a specific sequence and use them as theoretical model for so called HP proteins. HP proteins carry hydrophilic (P) and hydrophobic (H) monomers. We predict a rich structure in the force-extension relations which can be attributed to the information in the sequence. The variational method is used to probe local minima on the path of stretching and releasing for the chain molecules. At a given force, we find multiple configurations which are separated by energy barriers. A collapsed globular configuration consists of several domains which unravel cooperatively. Upon stretching, the unfolding path shows a stepwise pattern corresponding to the unfolding of each domain. While releasing, several cores can be created simultaneously in the middle of the chain, resulting in a different path of collapse. The long-range interactions and stiffness of the chain simplify the potential landscape given by the disorder in sequence. Constraint Molecular Dynamics and results on isotopic distributions produced in heavy ion collision — The Sn + Ni systems

The Constraint Molecular Dynamics approach is illustrated together with calculation on different heavy ion collisions. In particular the charge-mass distribution produced in the collision ¹²⁴Sn + ⁶⁴Ni and ¹¹²Sn + ⁵⁸Ni at 35 MeV/nucleon is discussed. By comparing the Y = (N ? Z)/A distributions for fragments produced in central collisions it results that this observable can be sensitive to the dynamic effects induced on the two systems by the different charge/mass ratio.     

Spontaneous formation of a system of highly ordered germanium nanoislands upon epitaxial deposition on profiled (111) silicon substrates under electromigration conditions

Atomic-force microscopy was used to study the surface topography of SiGe structures grown by epitaxial deposition of Ge on profiled Si(111) substrates under electromigration conditions. Systems of highly ordered germanium nanosized islands with dimensions of 10–20 nm and a density of 6×10¹⁰ cm^?2 were obtained. It is shown that the geometrical parameters of self-organizing nanoislands can be controlled by a proper choice of the growth and postgrowth annealing conditions for these structures.     

Synthesis and structures of nitroxyalkyl methylphosphonates

The reactions of ethylene glycol mononitrate and glycerol 1,3-dinitrate with methylphosphonic dichloride afforded new nitroxyalkyl methylphosphonates.
