Adaptation of selected diagnostic techniques to magnetic confinement fusion experiments

The paper concerns several diagnostic techniques, which have been used in pulsed-power plasma experiments, i.e. Plasma-Focus and Z-Pinch devices, and which can be adapted to studies of Magnetic Confinement Fusion (MCF) facilities, e.g. Stellarators and Tokamaks. The application of Nuclear Track Detectors (NTDs) for time-integrated ion measurements in MCF experiments is described and the use of such detectors for time-resolved ion measurements is discussed. The application of special ?erenkov-type detectors for time resolved measurements of fast runaway electrons is considered. Also discussed is the use of selected nuclear reactions for measurements of fusion products, e.g. fast neutrons.     

Charge qubit rotations in a double-dot nanostructure

Quantum operations with a charge solid-state qubit whose logical states are formed by two spatially separated localized states of an electron in the double-dot structure are studied theoretically. We show that it is possible to perform various one-qubit rotations making use of the microwave pulses tuned to the resonances between the localized states and the excited state delocalized over the nanostructure. An explicit analytic expression for the time-dependent electron state vector is derived, and the appropriate pulse parameters are determined.     

Intermolecular Interactions in 8-Aza-D-Homogonane Crystals and their Manifestation in the IR Spectra

Crystalline modifications of 8-aza-D-homogon-1,3,5(10),13-tetraen-12,17a-dione have been investigated by IR spectroscopy and x-ray structural analysis. It is shown that this compound crystallizes from solutions of chloroform with hexane in the form of a solvate comprised of chelate hydrogen bonds between the hydrogen atom of the chloroform molecule and the oxygen atoms of the carbonyl groups of the 8-azasteroid molecule. A relation between the changes in the characteristic absorption bands of the CH₂-, C=O-, and I=C groups and the structure of the crystalline modifications has been established.

Synthesis and Raman analysis of 1D-ZnO nanostructure via vapor phase growth

1D-nanostructural zinc oxide (ZnO) with different shapes have been synthesized on p-type Si(1 0 0) and glass substrates via vapor phase growth by heating pure zinc powder at temperatures between 480 and 570 °C. The different ZnO nanostructures depend on the substrates and the growth temperatures. Scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction revealed that a well-aligned nanowires array, which are vertical to the substrate of Si(1 0 0) with 18 sides on their heads, but six sides on their stems, has been formed at 480 °C. Raman study on the ZnO nanostructures shows that the coupling strength between electron and phonon determined by the ratio of the second- to the first-order Raman scattering cross-sections declines with decreasing diameter of the nanowires. However, a little changes of the coupling strength in terms of the width of the nanobelts have been observed.     

Causality, Poincaré Invariance, and Goldstone Theorem in DLCQ

We study three problems of the light-front field theory quantized in a finite volume with fields (anti-)periodic in x⁻: (a) microcausality by deriving an integral representation for the discrete Pauli-Jordan function; (b) surface terms violating Poincaré algebra; (c) a LF version of the Goldstone theorem. The first two problems are resolved by careful mathematical treatment. The third one illustrates the usefulness of DLCQ as an analytical scheme.     

Proteinases from Carica papaya Latex

Data on the proteinase complex from Carica papaya latex were reviewed. The properties and applications of the domestic preparation cucumazyme and known medicinal preparations based on papaya proteinases (caripazyme, lecozyme, lecopain) were compared.
