Using QHD model the parametric interaction of a laser radiation in an unmagnetised piezoelectric semiconductor has been studied. It is found that the Bohm potential in the electron dynamics enhances the gain coefficient of parametrically generated modes whereas reduces the threshold pump intensity.  相似文献

Summary: Self assembly of oligo(phenylene vinylene) based gelator is studied in three different solvents namely, trans-decahydronaphthalene (trans-decalin), benzene and benzyl alcohol. The morphology as well as the thermal properties are different for benzyl alcohol gel as compared to those gels in trans-decalin or benzene. X-ray diffraction studies indicate that in case of benzyl alcohol gel, the molecular organization is highly ordered with respect to the fibrils grown in other two solvents.  相似文献

3,4,5-Trimetoxytetraphenylporphyrinoxovanadium (IV) complex (3,4,5-TMVOTPP) was synthesized by a new one pot synthetic method. The complex was studied in the form of single crystal, powder (polycrystalline state), solution and frozen solution (glassy state) by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) between room temperature (RT) and liquid nitrogen temperature (LNT). Interestingly a well-resolved octet in the EPR spectrum at RT is observed in the pure paramagnetic state of the crystal. This observation is attributed to a greatly reduced dipolar interaction between paramagnetic vanadyl ions due to the large size of the molecule and the resultant stacking in the crystalline state. The line width of the EPR signals in single crystal at RT is approximately 3.3 mT which is more than the usual line width in diluted paramagnets ( approximately 1.5 mT) and is attributed to some kind of broadening effect akin to slow motion broadening. The line width in solvents is more than the crystal value but decreases appreciably at low temperatures. The decrease in line width at low temperature is attributed to the increase in spin-lattice-relaxation time and quenching of RT broadening motion. Only one octet is observed in the crystal EPR spectra which suggests only one formula unit per unit cell or a parallel/antiparallel ordering of V=O vectors in case the formula units per unit cell are more than one. This result needs verification by a detailed X-ray investigation. The crystalline field symmetry around the V(4+) metal ion is revealed to be axial by the observed angular dependence of the EPR spectrum and the powder EPR spectrum. No super hyperfine splitting of the hyperfine lines of the vanadyl ion is observed in solid state or diluted glass up to liquid nitrogen temperature. This suggests an expected weak in-plane pi-bonding with ligands. The spin Hamiltonian parameters for vanadyl ion in crystal, powder, diluted solutions and frozen glasses are evaluated and discussed.  相似文献

There has been no reliable published data on the presence of perchlorate in seawater. Seaweeds are among the most important plant life in the ocean and are good sources of iodine and have been widely used as food and nutritional supplement. Perchlorate is known to inhibit the transport of iodide by the sodium iodide symporter (NIS), present e.g., in the thyroid and mammary glands. With perchlorate being increasingly detected in drinking water, milk and various other foods, increasing the iodide intake through inexpensive natural supplements may be an attractive solution for maintaining iodine assimilation. We report here measurable concentrations of perchlorate in several samples of seawater (detectable in about half the samples analyzed). We also report the iodide and perchlorate concentrations of 11 different species of seaweed and the corresponding bioconcentration factors (BCF) for perchlorate and iodide, relative to the seawater from which they were harvested. All seaweed samples came from the same region, off the coast of Northeastern Maine. Concentrations of iodide and perchlorate in four seawater samples collected from the region near harvest time were 30 ± 11 and 0.16 ± 0.084 μg l−1, respectively. Concentrations of both iodide and perchlorate varied over a wide range for different seaweed species; iodide ranging from 16 to 3134 mg kg−1 and perchlorate from 0.077 to 3.2 mg kg−1. The Laminaria species had the highest iodide concentration; Laminaria digitata is the seaweed species most commonly used in the kelp tablets sold in health food stores. Our sample of L. digitata contained 3134 ± 15 mg iodide/kg dry weight. The BCF varied widely for different species, with Laminaria species concentrating iodide preferentially over perchlorate. The iodide BCF (BCFi) to perchlorate BCF (BCFp) quotient ranged from 0.66 to 53; L. digitata and L. saccarina having a BCFi/BCFp value of 45 and 53, respectively, far greater than a simple anion exchange process will allow. Although most seaweed samples contain some amount of perchlorate, the great majority contains iodide in so much higher amount that at least for the commonly used Laminaria species, the iodide/perchlorate ratio is greater than the square of the perchlorate to iodide selectivity factor reported for the mammalian NIS and should thus lead to net beneficial iodine nutrition even in a two-stage mother-infant scenario.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate to what extent the results of Z. Wang and D. Daigle on “nice derivations” of the polynomial ring k[X,Y,Z] over a field k of characteristic zero extend to the polynomial ring R[X,Y,Z] over a PID R, containing the field of rational numbers. One of our results shows that the kernel of a nice derivation on k[X1,X2,X3,X4] of rank at most three is a polynomial ring over k.  相似文献

Conventional spectroscopic tools such as absorption, fluorescence, and circular dichroism spectroscopy used in the study of photoinduced drug-protein interactions can yield useful information about ground-state and excited-state phenomena. However, photoinduced electron transfer (PET) may be a possible phenomenon in the drug-protein interaction, which may go unnoticed if only conventional spectroscopic observations are taken into account. Laser flash photolysis coupled with an external magnetic field can be utilized to confirm the occurrence of PET and authenticate the spin states of the radicals/radical ions formed. In the study of interaction of the model protein human serum albumin (HSA) with acridine derivatives, acridine yellow (AY) and proflavin (PF(+)), conventional spectroscopic tools along with docking study have been used to decipher the binding mechanism, and laser flash photolysis technique with an associated magnetic field (MF) has been used to explore PET. The results of fluorescence study indicate that fluorescence resonance energy transfer takes place from the protein to the acridine-based drugs. Docking study unveils the crucial role of Ser 232 residue of HSA in explaining the differential behavior of the two drugs towards the model protein. Laser flash photolysis experiments help to identify the radicals/radical ions formed in the due course of PET (PF(?), AY(?-), TrpH(?+), Trp(?)), and the application of an external MF has been used to characterize their initial spin-state. Owing to its distance dependence, MF effect gives an idea about the proximity of the radicals/radical ions during interaction in the system and also helps to elucidate the reaction mechanisms. A prominent MF effect is observed in homogeneous buffer medium owing to the pseudoconfinement of the radicals/radical ions provided by the complex structure of the protein.  相似文献

The chemical speciation of Mn2+ within cells is critical for its transport, availability, and redox properties. Herein we investigate the redox behavior and complexation equilibria of Mn2+ in aqueous solutions of bicarbonate by voltammetry and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy and discuss the implications for the uptake of Mn2+ by mangano-cluster enzymes such as photosystem II (PSII). Both the electrochemical reduction of Mn2+ to Mn0 at an Hg electrode and EPR (in the absence of a polarizing electrode) revealed the formation of 1:1 and 1:2 Mn-(bi)carbonate complexes as a function of Mn2+ and bicarbonate concentrations. Pulsed EPR spectroscopy, including ENDOR, ESEEM, and 2D-HYSCORE, were used to probe the hyperfine couplings to 1H and 13C nuclei of the ligand(s) bound to Mn2+. For the 1:2 complex, the complete 13C hyperfine tensor for one of the (bi)carbonate ligands was determined and it was established that this ligand coordinates to Mn2+ in bidentate mode with a 13C-Mn distance of 2.85 +/- 0.1 angstroms. The second (bi)carbonate ligand in the 1:2 complex coordinates possibly in monodentate mode, which is structurally less defined, and its 13C signal is broad and unobservable. 1H ENDOR reveals that 1-2 water ligands are lost upon binding of one bicarbonate ion in the 1:1 complex while 3-4 water ligands are lost upon forming the 1:2 complex. Thus, we deduce that the dominant species above 0.1 M bicarbonate concentration is the 1:2 complex, [Mn(CO3)(HCO3)(OH2)3]-.  相似文献

Human placental ribonuclease inhibitor (hRI) containing six tryptophan (Trp) residues located at positions 19, 261, 263, 318, 375, and 438 and its complex with RNase A have been studied using steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence (298 K) as well as low-temperature phosphorescence (77 K). Two Trp residues in wild-type hRI and also in the protein-protein complex with RNase A are resolved optically. The accessible surface area values of Trp residues in the wild-type hRI and its complex and consideration of inter-Trp energy transfer in the wild-type hRI reveal that one of the Trp residues is Trp19, which is located in a hydrophobic buried region. The other Trp residue is tentatively assigned as Trp375 based on experimental results on wild-type hRI and its complex. This residue in the wild-type hRI is more or less solvent exposed. Both the Trp residues are perturbed slightly on complex formation. Trp19 moves slightly toward a more hydrophobic region, and the environment of Trp375 becomes less solvent exposed. The complex formation also results in a more heterogeneous environment for both the optically resolved Trp residues.  相似文献
