ZnO nanoparticles and Cu-doped ZnO nanoparticles were prepared by co-precipitation method. Also, a part of the pure ZnO nanoparticles were annealed at 750 °C for 3, 6, and 9 h. X-ray diffraction studies were carried out and the lattice parameters, unit cell volume, interplanar spacing, and Young’s modulus were calculated for all the samples, and also the crystallite size was found using the Scherrer method. X-ray peak broadening analysis was used to estimate the crystallite sizes and the strain using the Williamson–Hall (W–H) method and the size–strain plot (SSP) method. Stress and the energy density were calculated using the W–H method assuming different models such as uniform deformation model, uniform strain deformation model, uniform deformation energy density model, and the SSP method. Optical absorption properties of the samples were understood from their UV–visible spectra. Photocatalytic activities of ZnO and 5 % Cu-doped ZnO were observed by the degradation of methylene blue dye in aqueous medium under the irradiation of 20-W compact fluorescent lamp for an hour. 相似文献

Ultra fine (2-3 nm) magnetite (Fe(3)O(4)) nano-particles are uniformly deposited on single-walled carbon nano-tubes (SWCNTs) pre-functionalised with carboxylic acid groups using microwave radiation. The deposition process involves chemical precipitation associated with continuous flow spinning disc processing (SDP), as a rapid, environmentally friendly approach which is readily scalable for large scale synthesis. This paper investigated the application of ZnO nanowires (ZnO NW) to enhance the interfacial strength of glass/epoxy composites. ZnO NW were grown on glass fibers by hydrothermal method, tensile properties of bare and ZnO NW coated fibers were measured by single fiber tensile testing, wettability of fiber with resin was studied by contact angle measurements and finally the interfacial strength and mechanisms were determined by single fiber fragmentation testing of glass/epoxy composites. The surface coverage of ZnO NW on glass fibers was fairly uniform without formation of major clusters. The coating of ZnO NW slightly reduced the tensile strength and improved the tensile modulus of fibers. Wettability tests showed reduction in contact angles for ZnO NW coated fibers because of enhanced wetting and infiltration of epoxy resin into nanowires. In fragmentation testing of microcomposites, smaller and concentrated interfacial debonding zones for ZnO NW coated fibers indicated good stress transfer and strong interfacial adhesion. A new form of crossed and closely spaced stress patterns were observed for nanowires of high aspect ratios. The interfacial strength of ZnO NW coated fibers increased by at least 109% and by 430% on average, which was attributed to the increased surface area and mechanical interlocking provided by ZnO NW. 相似文献

In this paper, we introduce the maximum edge biclique problem in bipartite graphs and the edge/node weighted multipartite clique problem in multipartite graphs. Our motivation for studying these problems came from abstractions of real manufacturing problems in the computer industry and from formal concept analysis. We show that the weighted version and four variants of the unweighted version of the biclique problem are NP-complete. For random bipartite graphs, we show that the size of the maximum balanced biclique is considerably smaller than the size of the maximum edge cardinality biclique, thus highlighting the difference between the two problems. For multipartite graphs, we consider three versions each for the edge and node weighted problems which differ in the structure of the multipartite clique (MPC) required. We show that all the edge weighted versions are NP-complete in general. We also provide a special case in which edge weighted versions are polynomially solvable. 相似文献

This research is motivated by issues faced by a large manufacturer of semiconductor devices. Semiconductor manufacturing companies allocate millions of dollars every year for new types of machine tools for their facilities. Typically these are special purpose machine tools which are made to order. The rate of change in products and technology makes it difficult for manufacturers to have a good estimate of future tool requirements. Further, manufacturers experience a long lead time while procuring these tools. In this paper, we model the tool capacity planning problem under uncertainty in demand. The number of tools required in a facility is sufficiently large (nearly hundred or more tools) to make it nearly impossible to obtain efficient exact algorithms. We provide heuristics to find efficient tool procurement plans and test their quality using lower bounds on the formulation. 相似文献

A triazene-based synthetic strategy for the construction of the complex biaryl ethers and a Suzuki coupling reaction were the key steps in the synthesis of precursor 1 of the aglycon of vancomycin, which already contains the complete skeleton of the target compound. The cleavage of the triazene unit from the D ring and the removal of the other protecting groups led to the aglycon of vancomycin. These strategies should be particularly valuable for the synthesis of other naturally occurring glycopeptide antibiotics and offer opportunities for the synthesis of combinatorial libraries of compounds of the vancomycin family for chemical biology studies. 相似文献

The incidence of many serious childhood infections can be reduced by vaccination. High sun exposure at the time of vaccination has been associated with a reduced antigen‐specific immune response. We hypothesized that providing sun protection advice and equipment to mothers of children who were waiting to be vaccinated would result in a more robust immunization response. We conducted a pilot study in 2015/2016 (data analyzed in 2017–2018) among 98 Black African children (~18 months of age) receiving the booster measles vaccination at two clinics in South Africa. Clinics were randomized to receive (or not) sun protection advice and equipment. We recorded demographic information on children and mothers and data on the child's usual sun exposure. At approximately 4 weeks’ postmeasles vaccination, we measured measles immunoglobulin G levels in children. All children with blood results (n = 87, 89%) across both groups had antibody titers higher than 200 mIU mL?1 which was considered the protective antibody concentration. There was no statistically significant difference in titers between groups: geometric difference in mean titers 1.13 mIU mL?1 (95% CI 0.85, 1.51; P = 0.39) and 1.38 mIU mL?1 (95% CI 0.90, 2.11, P = 0.14) for unadjusted and adjusted analyses, respectively. This study demonstrated that a sun protection intervention study could be performed in a developing‐world pediatric vaccination setting. Although the sun protection intervention around the time of vaccination was not associated with a higher antibody level, given the potential importance of such an effect, a larger study should be considered. 相似文献

The effects of mean flame curvature on reaction progress variable gradient, $\nabla c$ , alignment with local turbulent strain rate are studied based on three-dimensional Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) data of turbulent premixed flame kernels with different initial radii under decaying turbulence. A statistically planar flame is also considered in order to compare the results obtained from the kernels with a flame of zero mean curvature. It is found that the dilatation rate effects diminish with decreasing kernel radius due to defocusing of heat in the positively curved regions. This gives rise to a decrease in the extent of reaction progress variable gradient alignment with most extensive principal strain rate with decreasing kernel radius. The modelling implications of the statistics of the alignment of $\nabla c$ with local strain rate have been studied in terms of scalar dissipation rate transport. A new modelling methodology for the contribution of the scalar-turbulence interaction term in the transport equation for the mean scalar dissipation is suggested addressing the reduced effects of dilatation rate for flame kernels and the diminished value of turbulent straining at the small length scales at which turbulence interacts with small flame kernels. The performance of the new models is found to be satisfactory while comparing to DNS results. The existing models for the dilatation contribution and the combined chemical reaction and molecular dissipation contributions to the transport of mean scalar dissipation, which were originally proposed for statistically planar flames, are found to satisfactorily predict the corresponding quantities for turbulent flame kernels. 相似文献
