Solvent and hydrogen confinement in molecular capsules-Hirshfeld surface and molecular simulation analysis

Hirshfeld surface analysis of the 'ordered' inner phase of the molecular capsule complex, [(chloroform)(6)@C-n-butylpyrogallol[4]arene)(6)], provides insight into the intermolecular contacts and orientation of the solvent molecules. Molecular simulations show that adding two or three hydrogen molecules to the six solvent molecules is energetically favoured, and this correlates with NMR studies.     

Nanosized drug formulations under microfluidic continuous flow

We present a simple method involving a rotating tube processor to fabricate ultrafine crystalline drug nanoparticles under microfluidic continuous flow with precise control over particle size, with significantly enhanced dissolution of the drug.     

Super edge-magic strength of fire crackers, banana trees and unicyclic graphs

A graph G(V,E) is called super edge-magic if there exists a bijection f from V∪E to {1,2,3,…,|V|+|E|} such that f(u)+f(v)+f(uv)=c(f) is constant for any uv∈E and f(V)={1,2,3,…,|V|}. Such a bijection is called a super edge-magic labeling of G. The super edge-magic strength of a graph G is defined as the minimum of all c(f) where the minimum runs over all super edge-magic labelings of G and is denoted by sm(G). The super edge-magic strength of some families of graphs are obtained in this paper.     

Frequency tunability and temporal characteristics of a DAMC distributed feedback dye laser

The frequency tunablity characteristics of a simple prism configuration distributed feedback dye laser (DFDL) pumped by a low pressure nitrogen gas laser are described. Tunability is studied as a function of the refractive index of the dye solution and also as a function of the angle of the interfering beams of the pump laser. The tunability range for the dye studied is from 440 to 480 nm with a spectral width of 0·1 Å and the time duration of the DFDL pulses was 50 ps.     

Anionic oxycope rearrangements in acetylenic spiro systems

The anionic oxy-Cope rearrangement of the acetylenic carbinol 3 furnishes the tricyclic diketone 5; substitution at the key position furnishes only the bicyclic 1,3-bridged dione 6.     

Crystal structure of N-m-tolyl phthalimide

N-m-tolyl phthalimide, C₁₅NO₂H₁₁ crystallizes in the space group Cc with unit cell dimensions,a=8·54(1),b=19·89(2),c = 7·59(1)A, β=114·53(1)° andZ=4.V=1173(2)A³,D _m =1·35(1),D _c = 1·344 mg.m⁻³,M _r =237 λCoK_a=1·7903A. The structure was solved byMULTAN and refined to an R-factor of 0·116 for 632 counter reflections. The molecules are held together by van der Waal’s forces. The angle between the tolyl plane and the plane through the phthalimide group is 53·4(4)°. Contribution No. 607.     

Influence of magnetic quantization on the debye screening length in degenerate semiconductors having parabolic energy bands

The Debye screening length in degenerate semiconductors having parabolic energy bands is shown for the first time to have an oscillatory dependence on magnetic field under the influence of Landau quantization when the higher lying sub-bands are occupied.The authors are indebted to Professor J.
