A convenient synthesis of substituted 3-bromotetrahydrofurans from homoallylic alcohols

Substituted 3-bromotetrahydrofurans were prepared from homoallylic alcohols via bromination and cyclization in methanol in the presence of potassium carbonate.     

Thermal decomposition of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-benzoquinone diazide in solutions of olefins with the formation of spirodienones

Paramagnetic centers in silver oxalate in the initial stages of photolysis and radiolysis

Conditions of generation and removal are considered for one type of paramagnetic center produced in polycrystalline silver oxalate by X-rays, -rays, and UV light. The ESR spectra show that these are C₂O ₄ ^– ions trapped at cation vacancies. The mechanisms of photolysis and radiolysis are discussed.
