Macrocycle engineering is a key topic in supramolecular chemistry. When synthesizing a ring, one can obtain either complex mixtures of macrocycles of different sizes or a single ring if a template is utilized. Here, we unite these approaches along with post-synthetic modifications to transform a single tether into multiple rings—up to five per tether. The macrocycles contain two bridged phenylpyridine ligands that are connected through a Pt atom, which defines the rings’ shape, size, and host activity. All rings undergo redox reactions (between PtII and PtIV) that allow for large conformational changes. Their reactivity, together with their host performance, is a convenient way to control the capture and release of guests, to mediate ring transformations, and to control pseudorotaxane-to-pseudorotaxane conversions. This novel approach could serve to assemble other libraries of small ring molecules, create cyclic polymers bridged by responsive-at-metal nodes, and produce processable mechanically interlocked molecules.  相似文献

Novel nanocomposite membranes were prepared with sulfonated polyoxadiazole and different amounts of sulfonated dense and mesoporous (MCM-41) silica particles. It has been shown that particle size and functionality of sulfonated silica particles play an important role when they are used as fillers for the development of polymer electrolyte nanocomposite membrane for fuel cells. No significant particle agglomerates were observed in all nanocomposite membranes prepared with sulfonated dense silica particles, as analyzed by SEM, AFM, TGA, DMTA and tensile tests. The Tg values of the composite membranes increased with addition of sulfonated silica, indicating an interaction between the sulfonic acid groups of the silica and the polyoxadiazole. Constrained polymer chains in the vicinity of the inorganic particles were confirmed by the reduction of the relative peak height of tan δ. A proton conductivity of 0.034 S cm−1 at 120 °C and 25% RH, which is around two-fold higher than the value of the pristine polymer membrane was obtained.  相似文献

Since many estrane and androstane derivatives exhibit cytotoxic, anti-oxidant, or anti-hormone activity, new steroidal derivatives were synthesised from appropriate estrogen or androgen precursors in order to obtain potential therapeutics for the treatment of steroid-dependent diseases. Starting from estradiol (I), 6-oxo derivatives V and VII were prepared. 17β-Salicyloyl-6-oxo derivatives VI and VIII were synthesised by the reaction of compounds V or VII with methyl salicylate in the presence of sodium. 17β-Salicyloyloxy estradiol IX was prepared from estradiol. Beckmann fragmentation of 16-oxyimino alcohols XII and XIII with methyl salicylate yielded corresponding D-seco derivatives XIV and XV. Simultaneous fragmentation and acylation of compound XII resulted in 3β-salicyloyl-D-seco derivative XVI which was also obtained from compound XIV. Anti-oxidant assays of the newly synthesised compounds V-IX, XIV, and XVI indicated a stronger capacity for hydroxyl radical scavenging, and a weaker capacity for DPPH radical scavenging, compared with the standard anti-oxidants BHA and BHT. Compounds V, XIV, and XVI showed higher or the same activity as BHT. The cytotoxicity of new compounds was evaluated against human breast and prostate carcinoma cells. Compound VI exhibited strong cytotoxicity against MDA-MB-231 cells; compound XIV exhibited strong cytotoxicity against PC-3 cell line, while compound VII moderately inhibited the growth of PC-3 cells.  相似文献

Summary: The objectives of this work were to produce expanded nanocomposites based on cassava starch, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and sodium montmorillonite (Na-MMT). The nanocomposites were characterized according to their expansion index (EI), density, water absorption capacity (WAC), mechanical properties and crystallinity. The nanocomposites were prepared in a single-screw extruder using different starch contents (97.6–55.2 g/100 g formulation), PVA (0–40 g/100 g formulation) and Na-MMT (0–4.8 g/100 g formulation). Glycerol (20 g/100 g formulation) was used as plasticizer. The addition of Na-MMT and PVA resulted in an increase of EI and mechanical strength of the foams. Na-MMT and PVA addition resulted in less WAC of the samples. The studied processing conditions resulted in a good nanoclay dispersion, leading to the formation of an intercalated structure.  相似文献

Molecules of Li(n)X (n = 2, 3; X = Cl, Br, I) were examined with a magnetic sector mass spectrometer by surface ionization using a triple rhenium filament impregnated with fullerene (C60). The ionization energies obtained for Li(2)Cl, Li(2)Br and Li(2)I molecules are 3.8 +/- 0.1, 3.9 +/- 0.1 and 4.0 +/- 0.1 eV, respectively. The first ionization energy of Li(2)Cl is documented, while there are no literature data for the ionization energies of Li(2)Br and Li(2)I. The molecules of Li(3)Cl, Li(3)Br and Li(3)I were detected experimentally for the first time with ionization energies of 4.0 +/- 0.1, 4.1 +/- 0.1 and 4.1 +/- 0.1 eV, respectively. The ionization energies of Li(n)X (n = 2, 3; X = Cl, Br, I) are in correlation with the theoretical prediction of their hyperlithiated configurations.  相似文献

An investigation was performed regarding the application of a mechanically stirred anaerobic sequencing batch biofilm reactor containing immobilized biomass on inert polyurethane foam (AnSBBR) to the treatment of soluble metalworking fluids to remove organic matter and produce methane. The effect of increasing organic matter and reactor fill time, as well as shock load, on reactor stability and efficiency have been analyzed. The 5-L AnSBBR was operated at 30?°C in 8-h cycles, agitation of 400 rpm, and treated 2.0 L effluent per cycle. Organic matter was increased by increasing the influent concentration (500, 1,000, 2,000, and 3,000 mg chemical oxygen demand (COD)/L). Fill times investigated were in the batch mode (fill time 10 min) and fed-batch followed by batch (fill time 4 h). In the batch mode, organic matter removal efficiencies were 87%, 86%, and 80% for influent concentrations of 500, 1,000, and 2,000 mgCOD/L (1.50, 3.12, and 6.08 gCOD/L.d), respectively. At 3,000 mgCOD/L (9.38 gCOD/L.d), operational stability could not be achieved. The reactor managed to maintain stability when a shock load twice as high the feed concentration was applied, evidencing the robustness of the reactor to potential concentration variations in the wastewater being treated. Increasing the fill time to 4 h did not improve removal efficiency, which was 72% for 2,000 mgCOD/L. Thus, gradual feeding did not improve organic matter removal. The concentration of methane formed at 6.08 gCOD/L was 5.20 mmolCH4, which corresponded to 78% of the biogas composition. The behavior of the reactor during batch and fed-batch feeding could be explained by a kinetic model that considers organic matter consumption, production, and consumption of total volatile acids and methane production.  相似文献

Background

Sleep spindles, as detected on scalp electroencephalography (EEG), are considered to be markers of thalamo-cortical network integrity. Since obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a known cause of brain dysfunction, the aim of this study was to investigate sleep spindle frequency distribution in OSA. Seven non-OSA subjects and 21 patients with OSA (11 mild and 10 moderate) were studied. A matching pursuit procedure was used for automatic detection of fast (≥13Hz) and slow (<13Hz) spindles obtained from 30min samples of NREM sleep stage 2 taken from initial, middle and final night thirds (sections I, II and III) of frontal, central and parietal scalp regions.

Results

Compared to non-OSA subjects, Moderate OSA patients had higher central and parietal slow spindle percentage (SSP) in all night sections studied, and higher frontal SSP in sections II and III. As the night progressed, there was a reduction in central and parietal SSP, while frontal SSP remained high. Frontal slow spindle percentage in night section III predicted OSA with good accuracy, with OSA likelihood increased by 12.1%for every SSP unit increase (OR 1.121, 95% CI 1.013 - 1.239, p=0.027).

Conclusions

These results are consistent with diffuse, predominantly frontal thalamo-cortical dysfunction during sleep in OSA, as more posterior brain regions appear to maintain some physiological spindle frequency modulation across the night. Displaying changes in an opposite direction to what is expected from the aging process itself, spindle frequency appears to be informative in OSA even with small sample sizes, and to represent a sensitive electrophysiological marker of brain dysfunction in OSA.

2-acetyl-1-pyrroline (2AP) is the compound that gives out the typical aroma and flavour of pandan leaves (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb.). This research incorporates ultrasonic extraction to extract the aromatic compound in pandan leaves. The parameters varied in this study are the extraction time, sonicator amplitude, concentration of solvent and the mass of pandan leaves. The experiment was conducted using a central composite design (CCD) model generated by the response surface methodology (RSM). From the extraction process, it can be deduced that the effect of leaves’ mass is comparably higher than other parameters, while sonicator amplitude gives the most negligible impact on the process. The obtained p-value was 0.0014, which was less than 0.05. The high R-squared 0.9603 and adjusted R-squared 0.8809 indicate the model is well agreed with the actual data. The optimal control variables of ultrasonic extraction of 2AP are at an extraction time of 20 min, 60% of solvent concentration, amplitude of 25% and 12.5 g of pandan leaves, which produced 60.51% of yield of the extract and 1.43 ppm of 2AP. It is found that the mass of pandan leaves and the concentration of solvent have a significant impact on the extraction process of 2AP.  相似文献
