Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) was neutron damaged at an integral flux of 2.40 × 1012 n cm−2 s−1 for 1, 2, 3 and 4 h. The h-BN samples undergo a transition from sp2 to sp3 hybridization as a consequence of the neutron induced damage with the formation of cubic boron nitride (c-BN) spots, as suggested both by FT–IR and Raman spectroscopy. In addition to c-BN, also a certain degree of amorphization is achieved by h-BN already at the lowest neutron fluence of 8.64 × 1015 n cm−2 as clearly evidenced by Raman spectroscopy. The Wigner or stored energy to the radiation-damaged h-BN samples was studied by DSC and also in this case there was a clear evidence that the neutron damage was partly irreversible and insensitive to the thermal annealing up to 630 °C. Electron spin resonance (ESR) was employed to further study the structural defects induced by the neutron bombardment of h-BN. Two kinds of paramagnetic defective structures centered on 11B atoms were identified.
The direct, catalytic dehydrative substitution of alcohols is a challenging, yet highly desirable process in the development of more sustainable approaches to organic chemistry. This review outlines recent advances in Brønsted acid-catalysed dehydrative substitution reactions for C−C, C−O, C−N and C−S bond formation. The wide range of processes that are now accessible using simple alcohols as the formal electrophile are highlighted, while current limitations and therefore possible future directions for research are also discussed. 相似文献
The chemical modification of porphyran hydrocolloid is attempted, with the objective of enhancing its antioxidant and antimicrobial activities. Sulfated galactan porphyran is obtained from commercial samples of the red algae Porphyra dioica using Soxhlet extraction with water at 100 °C and precipitation with isopropyl alcohol. The extracted porphyran is then treated with modified L-tyrosines in aqueous medium in the presence of NaOH, at ca. 70 °C. The modified tyrosines L1 and L2 are prepared through a Mannich reaction with either thymol or 2,4-di-tert-butylphenol, respectively. While the reaction with 2,4-di-tert-butylphenol yields the expected tyrosine derivative, a mixture of products is obtained with thymol. The resulting polysaccharides are structurally characterized and the respective antioxidant and antimicrobial activities are determined. Porphyran treated with the N-(2-hydroxy-3,5-di-tert-butyl-benzyl)-L-tyrosine derivative, POR-L2, presents a noticeable superior radical scavenging and antioxidant activity compared to native porphyran, POR. Furthermore, it exhibited some antimicrobial activity against S. aureus. The surface morphology of films prepared by casting with native and modified porphyrans is studied by SEM/EDS. Both POR and POR-L2 present potential applicability in the production of films and washable coatings for food packaging with improved protecting characteristics. 相似文献
Curcuma root (Curcuma longa L.) is a very important plant in gastronomy and medicine for its unique antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. Conventional methods for the extraction of curcuma oil require long extraction times and high temperatures that can degrade the active substances. Therefore, the objectives of the present study were: (i) first, to optimize the extraction yield of curcuma oil by applying a Box-Behnken experimental design using surface response methodology to the microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) technique (the independent variables studied were reaction time (10–30 min), microwave power (150–200 W) and curcuma powder/ethanol ratio (1:5–1:20; w/v); and, (ii) second, to assess the total phenolic content (TPC) and their antioxidant activity of the oil (at the optimum conditions point) and compare with the conventional Soxhlet technique. The optimum conditions for the MAE were found to be 29.99 min, 160 W and 1:20 w/v to obtain an optimum yield of 10.32%. Interestingly, the oil extracted by microwave-assisted extraction showed higher TPC and better antioxidant properties than the oil extracted with conventional Soxhlet technique. Thus, it was demonstrated that the method applied for extraction influences the final properties of the extracted Curcuma longa L. oil. 相似文献
The factors responsible for the enhancement of the halogen bond by an adjacent hydrogen bond have been quantitatively explored by means of state-of-the-art computational methods. It is found that the strength of a halogen bond is enhanced by ca. 3 kcal/mol when the halogen donor simultaneously operates as a halogen bond donor and a hydrogen bond acceptor. This enhancement is the result of both stronger electrostatic and orbital interactions between the XB donor and the XB acceptor, which indicates a significant degree of covalency in these halogen bonds. In addition, the halogen bond strength can be easily tuned by modifying the electron density of the aryl group of the XB donor as well as the acidity of the hydrogen atoms responsible for the hydrogen bond. 相似文献
This paper focuses on nonparametric regression estimation for the parameters of a discrete or continuous distribution, such as the Poisson or Gamma distributions, when anomalous data are present. The proposal is a natural extension of robust methods developed in the setting of parametric generalized linear models. Robust estimators bounding either large values of the deviance or of the Pearson residuals are introduced and their asymptotic behaviour is derived. Through a Monte Carlo study, for the Poisson and Gamma distributions, the finite properties of the proposed procedures are investigated and their performance is compared with that of the classical ones. A resistant cross-validation method to choose the smoothing parameter is also considered. 相似文献
Probabilistic and fuzzy choice functions are used to describe decision situations in which some degree of uncertainty or imprecision is involved. We propose a way to equate these two formalisms by means of residual implication operations.
