Methylcellulose (MC) is a thermo-reversible physical hydrogel. This study investigates the thermodynamic characteristics of gelation mechanism for MC. The relative and absolute specific heat capacity values of the hydrogel system were modeled using an empirical formulation to facilitate calculation of thermodynamic parameters. Experiments verifying the assumptions for the model formulation were conducted and are discussed. Parameters such as enthalpy, entropy, and changes in their magnitude as a function of temperature were calculated and their trends were studied. The implications of these observations on the various stages of the gel formation process and the associated mechanisms are evaluated. The studies revealed that the gelation of MC is a temperature- driven process rather than only driven by the heat input, and it attains a state of equilibrium under isothermal conditions. During gelation, the entropy of the overall (MC+water) system increases due to an increase in the disorderliness of the MC system.  相似文献

A novel polymer-supported triacetoxyborohydride reagent for reductive amination of aldehydes and ketones is reported. The bound reagent was found to be shelf-stable and provided broad scope and reactivity in reductive amination reactions under mild reaction conditions. Generally 0.008% or even less of boron is added to steel for grain refining and increasing its hardenability. Difficulty arises for the determination of such a small amount of this element in presence of the prepondarent amount of iron by any of the existing methods. Two methods are known for the isolation and determination of boron in steel. Tschischewski 2 separated iron with a mercury cathode and titrated with sodium hydroxide, first in the presence of methyl orange and then of phenolphthalein. Lundell et al. isolated boric acid from steel as methyl borate and titrated by use of colour indicators. A three-dimensional coordination polymer, [Mn3(OH)2Na2(3-cnba)6]n (1) (3-Hcnba = 3-cyanobenzoic acid), has been synthesized by the reaction of MnCl2, NaN3, and 3-Hcnba in water. Its crystal structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Magnetic studies show that the complex behaves as a three-dimensional metamagnet built from effective ferrimagnetic Mn(II) chains in which spin moments are linked by interactions in an AF-F-AF (F = ferromagnetic and AF = antiferromagnetic) sequence in the triangular magnetic repeating unit.  相似文献

The equation yxx=f(x)y2+g(x)y3 is the charged generalization of the Emden-Fowler equation that is crucial in the study of spherically symmetric shear-free spacetimes. This version arises from the Einstein–Maxwell system for a charged shear-free matter distribution. We integrate this equation and find a new first integral. For this solution to exist, two integral equations arise as integrability conditions. The integrability conditions can be transformed to nonlinear differential equations, which give explicit forms for f(x) and g(x) in terms of elementary and special functions. The explicit forms f(x)1x511x11/5 and g(x)1x611x12/5 arise as repeated roots of a fourth order polynomial. This is a new solution to the Einstein-Maxwell equations. Our result complements earlier work in neutral and charged matter showing that the complexity of a charged self-gravitating fluid is connected to the existence of a first integral.  相似文献

Cholesterol oxidase (ChOx) has been covalently linked to Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) monolayers of polyaniline (PANI)-stearic acid (SA) prepared onto indium-tin-oxide (ITO) coated glass plates via glutaraldehyde (Glu) chemistry. These ChOx/Glu/PANI-SA LB film/ITO electrodes have been characterized by FT-IR, cyclic voltammetry, and scanning electron microscopy, respectively. The results of response measurements carried out on these bioelectrodes using linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) reveal linearity from 25 to 400 mg/dL of cholesterol concentration with sensitivity of 88.9 nA mg(-1) dL. The linear regression analysis of bioelectrode reveals standard deviation and correlation coefficient of 0.737 microA and 0.9988, respectively. The low value of the Michaelis-Menten constant of these bioelectrodes obtained as 1.21 mM for the immobilized enzyme indicates increased interaction between ChOx and cholesterol in the PANI-SA LB film.  相似文献

Following H. Krause [Decomposing thick subcategories of the stable module category, Math. Ann. 313 (1) (1999) 95-108], we prove Krull-Schmidt type decomposition theorems for thick subcategories of various triangulated categories including the derived categories of rings, Noetherian stable homotopy categories, stable module categories over Hopf algebras, and the stable homotopy category of spectra. In all these categories, it is shown that the thick ideals of small objects decompose uniquely into indecomposable thick ideals. We also discuss some consequences of these decomposition results. In particular, it is shown that all these decompositions respect K-theory.  相似文献

Poly(l-lactide) (PLLA) and Poly(d-lactide) (PDLA) blended films (PLLA/PDLA) were prepared (5/95; 25/75; 50/50, and 75/25) by solvent casting method. Blend of PLLA and PDLA of medium molecular mass led to the formation of stereocomplex which was evidenced by differential scanning calorimetry, rheological measurement and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The stereocomplex had a higher melting temperature (T m) (more than 50 °C) and crystallized at higher temperature (T c) (more than 25 °C) from the melt compared to neat PLLA and PDLA. The T m and T c gradually decreased with increasing the number of thermal scans. The enthalpy of fusion (?Hm) for stereocomplex crystallites in 50/50 blend films was the highest than that of homo-crystallites. Rheological measurement at a temperature of 180–195 °C revealed that the neat PLA was predominantly liquid-like behavior (G″ > G′) which transformed to extreme solid-like behavior by incorporation of PDLA into PLLA. Among blends, 50/50 PDLA/PLLA showed the maximum mechanical strength (G′) followed by 25/75, 75/25, and 5/95 blends. The significant increase in mechanical strength is believed to be attributed by stereocomplex formation by blends. Thermal and rheological data supported higher mechanical strength and an increase in melting and crystallization temperature adequately.  相似文献
