Theoretical and Experimental Study of the Diffraction Intensity of Gradient Refractive-Index Lenses

We develop the wave-optics approach for calculating the diffraction distribution of gradient refractiveindex lenses and observing the diffraction pattern of gradient refractive-index lenses in the experiments. The results of our calculation are in good agreement with the experimental results obtained. We show that the diffraction can be regarded as a method to check the quality of the refractive-index distributions of gradient refractive-index lenses.     

Comparative Enantiomer-Resolving Ability of Coated and Covalently Immobilized Versions of Two Polysaccharide-Based Chiral Selectors in High-Performance Liquid Chromatography

The separation of enantiomers of over 175 randomly selected chiral acidic, basic, and neutral compounds was studied on 4 polysaccharide-based chiral columns made by coating or covalent attachment of cellulose 3,5-dichlorophenylcarbamate or amylose 3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate on the surface of silica. Triscarbamate derivatives of cellulose or amylose were used for the preparation of coated-type columns, while in the case of covalently immobilized chiral stationary phases, the respective polysaccharides were not completely carbamoylated but only close to triscarbamates. It was found that this minimal difference in the chemical composition of the polysaccharide derivatives resulted in significantly different enantiomer-resolving ability for certain groups of chiral compounds while only marginally different for other chiral analytes. This potential difference between coated- and covalently immobilized versions of the “same” chiral selector must be considered in method development with these columns, as well as in method transfer between them.     

A Dynamical Phase Transition of Binary Species BECs Mixtures in a Double Well Potential

We investigate the critical behavior in tunneling dynamics of a binary mixture of Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) trapped in a symmetric double well potential. By gradually increasing the interspecies interaction, we characterize a continuous dynamical phase transition behavior which involves power law scaling. This dynamical phase transition is a consequence of separatrix crossing as we revealed by poincaré section analysis.     

A novel chaos control strategy for discrete-time Brusselator models

This article deals with the dynamical analysis of discrete-time Brusselator models. Euler’s forward and nonstandard difference schemes are implemented for discretization of Brusselator system. We investigate the local dynamics related to equilibria of both discrete-time models. Furthermore, with the help of bifurcation theory and center manifold theorem, explicit parametric conditions for directions and existence of flip and Hopf bifurcations are investigated. A novel chaos control method is implemented in order to control chaos in discrete-time Brusselator models under the influence of flip and Hopf bifurcations. Numerical simulations are provided to illustrate theoretical discussion and effectiveness of newly introduced chaos control strategy.
