Liquid crystal (LC) alignment characteristics were investigated using a solution-derived lanthanum-doped zinc oxide (La:ZnO) film that was exposed to various intensities of ion-beam (IB) irradiation. At an IB intensity of 1700 eV, uniform and homogeneous LC alignment was achieved, as revealed by cross-polarized optical microscopy and pre-tilt angle measurement. Field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were used to verify that the IB irradiation induced physical and chemical surface reformation of the La:ZnO film that relate to LC alignment. FE-SEM and AFM revealed that the IB irradiation reformed the existing surface structure into a new structure with an altered surface roughness. The XPS results showed that the van der Waals force with anchoring energy increased as the IB intensity increased, and this profoundly affected the state of LC alignment. The capacitance-voltage (C-V) hysteresis curve was measured as a function of IB intensity to characterize the accumulated charge as a residual DC. Nearly zero C-V hysteresis was achieved at an IB intensity of 1700 eV. Therefore, a solution-derived La:ZnO film with an IB intensity of 1700 eV has great potential for high-quality LC applications.  相似文献

A phase with both hydrophobic and hydrophilic functionalities has been synthesized by modification of ground silica monolith particles with C18 and 1‐[3‐(trimethoxysilyl)propyl] urea ligands. A series of phases was prepared by changing the ratio of the two ligands to determine the optimal ratio in view of separation efficiency. The resultant optimized stationary phase was packed in narrow‐bore glass‐lined stainless‐steel columns (1 × 300 mm and 2.1 × 100 mm) and used for the separation of synthetic peptides and proteins. The average numbers of theoretical plates (N) of 52 100/column (174 000/m, 5.75 µm plate height) and 35 500/column (118 000/m, 8.47 µm plate height) were achieved with the 300 mm column at a flow rate of 25 µL/min (0.86 mm/s) in 60:40 v/v acetonitrile/30 mM aqueous ammonium formate for the mixture of peptides (Thr‐Tyr‐Ser, Val‐Ala‐Pro‐Gly, angiotensin I, isotocin, and bradykinin) and for the mixture of proteins (myoglobin, human serum albumin, and insulin), respectively. Fast analysis of the peptides and proteins was also carried out at a flow rate of 0.9 mL/min (6.88 mm/s) with the 100 mm column and all the analytes were eluted within 2 min with good separation efficiency.  相似文献

In the present study, the additional slope is used to consider the crack breathing, and is expressed explicitly in the equation of motion as one of the inputs to produce the bending moment at the crack position. Inversely, the additional slope is calculated by integrating on the crack region based on a fracture mechanics concept. The response of a cracked rotor is formulated based on the transfer matrix method. The transient behavior due to the crack breathing is considered by introducing a ‘moving’ Fourier-series expansion concept to the additional slope. The time-varying harmonic components of the additional slope are used to calculate the harmonic responses. The application considered is a general rotor model composed of multiple shafts, disks and cracks, and resilient bearings at both ends. Verification analysis is carried out for a simple rotor model similar to those found in the literature. Using the additional slope, the cracked rotor behavior is explained by the crack depth and rotation speed increase. It is shown that region on the crack front line having the dominant stress intensity factor value moves from the central area to both ends, as the crack depth increases. The result matches well with the crack propagation pattern shown in a bench mark test in the literature. Whirl orbits near the critical and sub-critical speed ranges of the rotor are discussed. It is shown that there exists some speed range near the critical speed, where the temporary whirl direction reversal and phase shift exist. When an unbalance is applied, the peculiar features, such as the whirl direction reversal and phase shift, disappear.  相似文献

We demonstrate that surface plasmon resonance (SPR) is applicable to the optical detection of neural signals. A low-noise SPR sensor was developed as a label- and artifact-free method for the extracellular recording of neural activity. The optical responses obtained from a rat sciatic nerve were highly correlated with simultaneously recorded electrical responses. Additional studies with stimulation intensity and lidocaine further confirmed that the optically measured signals originated from neural activities.  相似文献

We report a new version of spectral phase interferometry for direct electric field reconstruction (SPIDER) requiring only a single phase-shaped laser beam. A narrowband probe pulse is selected out of a broadband ultrafast laser pulse by a phase pulse-shaping technique and mixed with the original broadband pulse to generate a second-harmonic generation (SHG) signal. Using another SHG signal solely generated by the broadband pulse as a local oscillator, the spectral phase of the broadband laser pulse can be analytically retrieved by a combination of double-quadrature spectral interferometry and homodyne optical technique for SPIDER (HOT SPIDER). An arbitrary spectral phase at the sample position of a microscope can be compensated with a precision of 0.05 rad over the FWHM of the laser spectrum. It is readily applicable to a nonlinear microscopy technique with a phase-controlled broadband laser pulse.  相似文献

We demonstrate a novel high-speed polarization-sensitive optical frequency domain imaging system employing high-speed polarization modulation. Rapid and continuous polarization modulation of light prior to illumination of the sample is accomplished by shifting the frequency of one polarization eigenstate by an amount equal to one quarter of the digitization sampling frequency. This approach enables polarization-sensitive imaging with a single detection channel and overcomes artifacts that may arise from temporal variations of the birefringence in fiber-optic imaging probes and spatial variation of birefringence in the sample.  相似文献

To harness the full spectrum of solar energy, Fresnel reflection at the surface of a solar cell must be eliminated over the entire solar spectrum and at all angles. Here, we show that a multilayer nanostructure having a graded-index profile, as predicted by theory [J. Opt. Soc. Am. 66, 515 (1976); Appl. Opt. 46, 6533 (2007)], can accomplish a near-perfect transmission of all-color of sunlight. An ultralow total reflectance of 1%-6% has been achieved over a broad spectrum, lambda = 400 to 1600 nm, and a wide range of angles of incidence, theta = 0 degrees-60 degrees . The measured angle- and wavelength-averaged total reflectance of 3.79% is the smallest ever reported in the literature, to our knowledge.  相似文献

We present the compatibility of elastomeric stamp, poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS), with inks for non-photolithography. This ink limitation is important in considering the lamination of hydrophilic solution on the patterned ink surface using an elastomeric stamp. We focus on an increase of the hydrophobicity of the patterned surface due to diffusion of low molecular weight (LMW) silicone polymer chains. This hydrophobicity increases inversely with the PDMS–ink interaction parameter (χ), which is correlated with the solubility parameter (δ). This study's results translate into proposed design factors for ink used in the patterned functional layer for PDMS-based lithography. Both the XPS and the contact angle measurement show that the hydrophobicity can be increased by LMW PDMS chains transfer from stamps, and this increase can cause the expansion of the free volume in PDMS pores through a swelling effect.  相似文献

Electron injection behavior of lithium quinolate (Liq)/Ca/Al cathode was investigated by using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS). Interfacial energy barrier lowering of Liq/Ca/Al cathode was dependent on Ca thickness and maximum energy level shift was observed at a Ca thickness of 1 nm. Maximum current density could be obtained in Liq/Ca/Al device at a Ca thickness of 1 nm and it was well correlated with energy level shift from UPS measurement. Power efficiency of Liq/Al device could be improved by more than 70% by inserting Ca layer between Liq and Al.  相似文献
