Demand of low-cost carbonaceous anode materials for lithium-ion batteries has led to the development of anode materials from different bio-sources. In this regard, tamarind seed (skin) was used as a precursor to prepare disordered carbon as an anode material for lithium-ion batteries. The carbon was prepared through simple hydrothermal method and was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) measurements, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques. It exhibited amorphous carbon particles arranged in a fiber-like morphology with high surface area of 508 m2 g?1. The binder content was optimized for the carbon to achieve high and stable capacity. Electrochemical performance of the as-prepared carbon with optimized binder content showed a stable reversible specific capacity of 224 mAhg?1 after 300 cycles at 1 C-rate. The stable cycling performance of carbon at high current rate is explained by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and FE-SEM data of cycled electrodes. The low cost and stable specific capacity make the carbon as potential anode material for lithium-ion battery.

Quantum communication with terahertz (THz) frequency signals has many advantages like reduced attenuation and scintillation effects in certain atmospheric conditions along with very high level of data security. In this work, we propose a scheme to realize Quantum Memory (QM) for efficient storage of terahertz (THz) frequency signals using Electromagnetically Induced Transparency (EIT) in an ultracold atomic medium of 87Rb Rydberg atoms prepared in a Two Dimensional Magneto Optical Trap (2D-MOT). The uniqueness of our scheme lies in the choice of the energy levels involved in the EIT process, all three of which have been chosen to be the Rydberg levels (enabling signal beam to be in THz) in a lambda type arrangement. This first of its kind proposal reveals that atomic media are a potential candidate for devising QMs which can store THz frequency signals. We have estimated that the Optical Depth (OD) in our scheme can reach a very high value of 690, very high maximum obtainable storage efficiency (η) of ~99%, the group velocity (vg) can be as low as 5.07 × 103 m/s, and the Delay Bandwidth Product (DBP) can be as high as 9.5. All of these estimates emphasize the feasibility of our scheme as a QM device for efficient storage of THz pulses.  相似文献

Injecting CO2 into a subsurface formation causes a buildup of pressure in the vicinity of the injection well. While a large injection rate can reduce the cost associated with injection, an indefinitely large injection rate can result in excessive formation damage. To obtain an optimal injection rate without exceeding the safe pressure limits, one will like to have some knowledge of the transient pressure buildup characteristics resulting from a particular injection rate. While elaborate numerical simulations can provide reliable pressure buildup predictions, they require extensive knowledge about the formation, which is normally not available at the start of an injection process. To alleviate this problem, using some simplifying assumptions, we have developed a solution to predict the transient buildup of pressure resulting from injection of supercritical carbon dioxide from a partially penetrating well into a gas reservoir. The solution in space and time is first obtained in the Fourier–Laplace transform space, and then inverted back into real space (in cylindrical coordinates) and time. We use the solution to study pressure transient characteristics for different formation permeabilities and anisotropy ratios. Results obtained using the solution compared well with those from numerical simulations.  相似文献

Several recent studies of hydroxyl-functionalized ionic liquids (ILs) have shown that cation-cation interactions can be dominating these materials at the molecular level when the anion involved is weakly interacting. The hydrogen bonds between the like ions led to the formation of interesting chain-like, ring-like, or distinct dimeric (i. e. two ion pairs) supermolecular clusters. In the present work, vibrational spectroscopy (ATR-IR and Raman) and density functional theory (DFT) calculations of the hydroxyl-functionalized imidazolium ionic liquid C2OHmimCl indicate that anion-cation hydrogen bonding interactions are dominating, leading to the formation of distinct dimeric ion pair clusters. In this arrangement, the Cl anions function as a bridge between the cations by establishing bifurcated hydrogen bonds with the OH group of one cation and the C(2)-H of another cation. Cation–cation interactions, on the other hand, do not play a significant role in the observed clusters.  相似文献

An alkene–azide 1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition between trans‐cyclooctene (TCO) and an azide‐capped hydrogel that promotes rapid gel dissolution is reported. Using an ultrashort aryl azide‐capped peptide hydrogel (PhePhe), we have demonstrated proof‐of‐concept where upon reaction with TCO, the hydrogel undergoes a gel–sol transition via 1,2,3‐triazoline degradation and 1,6‐self‐immolation of the generated aniline. The potential application of this as a general trigger in sustained drug delivery is demonstrated through release of encapsulated cargo (doxorubicin). Administration of TCO resulted in 87 % of the cargo being released in 10 h, compared to 13–14 % in the control gels. This is the first example of a potential bioorthogonal‐triggered hydrogel dissolution using a traditional click‐type reaction. This type of stimulus could be extended to other aryl azide‐capped hydrogels.  相似文献

In this paper a finite element (FE) based unitcell model has been devised with periodic boundary conditions to calculate the effective tan δ of a composite as a function of frequency. Using this method, it is demonstrated that the tan δ of the nano-composite manifests important information about the extent and properties of the interphase region that surrounds each nano-particle. Thus we imply that tan δ measurements provide a simple yet useful experimental tool to understand more about the interphase. However, severe agglomeration or wide size distribution of the nano-particles may introduce errors in measurement.  相似文献

The effects of the addition of submicrometer-sized colloidal silica spheres on the linear and nonlinear rheology of semidilute solutions of a viscoelastic gel are studied. For a 1.4 wt% solution of the surfactant CTAT, a peak in the zero-shear rate viscosity eta(0) is observed at approximately equal weight percents of silica and CTAT. This peak shifts to lower silica concentrations on increasing either the CTAT concentration or the surface charge on silica and disappears when the CTAT concentration is increased to 2.6 wt%. The increases in eta(0) and the high frequency plateau modulus G(0) on the introduction of SiO(2) are explained by considering the increasingly entangled wormlike micelles that are formed due to the enhanced screening of the electrostatic interactions. The observed decrease in the values of G(0) and eta(0) at higher concentrations of silica particles is explained in terms of the formation of surfactant bilayers due to the adsorption of the positively charged cetyl trimethylammonium to the negatively charged silica.  相似文献

Mixed micelle formation by tetradecyltrimethylammonium (TTAB) and tetradecyltriphenylphosphonium bromides (TTPB) with benzyldimethyltetradecylammonium chloride (BTDACl) was studied with the help of conductivity and Kraft point measurements. The BTDACl + TTAB mixtures showed synergistic interactions whereas those of BTDACl + TTPB indicated weak antagonistic behavior. From Kraft temperature measurements, the enthalpy of fusion (H(1)(0)) from solid hydrated BTDACl to the liquid state in the presence of TTAB or TTPB was computed. It was found that DeltaH(1)(0) was much more positive for BTDACl + TTPB than for BTDACl + TTAB mixtures.  相似文献
