Bees in search of diet sources intensively fly within a radius of up to 3 km, encountering nectar, pollen, and water sources which are potentially contaminated. Consequently, their products can provide valuable information about potential pollution. In the current study, 27 macro and trace elements, including the most hazardous ones, were measured in bees, honey, wax, pollen, and larvae, obtained from seven explicitly industrial areas in eastern regions of Slovakia, using a validated ICP-MS method. All the analysed elements were detected at least in one matrix. The detected concentrations of toxic elements, such as Hg, Pb, and Cd were in some cases higher in wax and bee samples, compared with honey, larvae, and pollen. In particular, Pb and Hg maximum concentrations were detected in the wax samples from Poša (3193 µg/kg) and Strážske_A (90 μg/kg). In addition, adult bees accumulated more elements than larvae, while wax and adult bees seemed more suitable for monitoring macro and trace elements in the surrounding environment. Statistical analysis emphasizing bees and wax correlated Cd with the Strážske area, possibly attributed to the intensified industrial activity in this region. 相似文献

In this work, a 2D nanosheet (NS) of γ-cyclodextrin (CD)-based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) is synthesized through a facile green chemistry approach. NS-MOF carrier is constructed using a water system in a simple one-pot reaction involving CD and potassium carbonate. Particle size optimization is achieved by adjusting the reaction temperature and the introduction of crystal growth suppressor (appropriate proportion of acetone). The NS-MOF stability in aqueous medium is improved by polymerization reaction of crosslinked CD-MOF (CL-CD-MOF) without blocking its cavity for drug loading. The effects of particle geometry and size of nanoporous materials on their pharmacokinetics during drug delivery are compared between the sheet-like DXM@CL-NS-MOF and 3D-cubic-shaped DXM@CL-CD-MOF loaded with the same quantity of dexamethasone (DXM). The bioefficiency of these carriers in tear fluids and aqueous humors to deliver DXM is investigated in vivo. The results demonstrate that the 2D-nanosheet particles significantly improve precorneal residence time and intraocular bioavailability over the commercial Maxidex (0.1% dexamethasone) and its 3D-cubes counterpart of similar chemical composition. It suggests that the geometry of a carrier play a significant role in the biodistribution, and the carrier of CL-NS-MOF is a good candidate for ocular drug delivery. 相似文献

The liquid crystal behaviour of a family of non-symmetric liquid crystalline dimers is reported. These systems contain two bibenzoate rigid units that are linked to distinct terminal groups at one end, and to a flexible interconnecting spacer at the other. Several systems having different terminal and central chains are studied using calorimetric, microscopic and diffraction techniques. All the samples form phases with variable degrees of order (from low ordered smectic to crystalline phases) depending on the chemical constitution of the different segments. The influence of the length, parity and lateral substitution of the spacers on the transitional properties and the symmetry of the mesophases that are formed is analysed. It is found that a decrease in the transition temperatures and enthalpies occurs when the length of the flexible spacers increases, when lateral methyl substituents are introduced, or when the parity of the central spacer changes from an even to odd number of carbon atoms or ether groups. The arrangement of the mesogens and dissimilar flexible groups within the ordered structure is discussed with respect to the observed L/d ratios. Different values were obtained depending on the parity of the central spacer and on the degree of order. Interpenetrated structures, in which the flexible groups of different lengths are mixed, seem to be compatible with low ordered smectic phases, but sterically disfavoured when constructing crystalline phases. 相似文献

A new fiber-optic biosensor for urea has been developed, based on immobilized urease coupled to a fluorescence ammonia sensor. The enzymatically generated ammonia diffuses through the membrane into a solution of the fluorescent pH indicator trisodium 8-hydroxypyrene-1,3,6-trisulfonate. The sensor has been successfully used for the determination of urea in serum samples, with results in good agreement with those reported by a local hospital. The proposed sensor is reversible and selective to urea. The ease of construction of the sensor tip offers the possibility of designing disposable tips for use in clinical applications. 相似文献

The structures and energetic effects of molecular nitrogen adsorbates on nickel clusters are investigated using an extended Huckel model coupled with two models of the adsorbate-nickel interaction. The potential parameters for the adsorbates are chosen to mimic experimental information about the binding strength of nitrogen on both cluster and bulk surface phases of nickel. The first model potential is a simple Lennard-Jones interaction that leads to binding sites in holes defined by sets of near-neighbor nickel atoms. The second model potential has a simple three-body form that forces the model nitrogen adsorbates to bind directly to single nickel atoms. Significant rearrangement of the core nickel structures are found in both models. A disconnectivity graph analysis of the potential energy surfaces implies that the rearrangements arise from low transition state barriers and the small differences between available isomers in the nickel core. 相似文献

A commercial prototype monitor, in which a sulfide-selective electrode detects hydrogen sulfide with a pH electrode used as the reference electrode in a sample acidified to pH <5, is compared to a monitor in which a solid-state sensor detects hydrogen sulfide stripped from the sample by an air—CO2 mixture. Each monitor has a detection limit of ?0.005 mg kg-1 and both monitors performed well over a six-month period in the field, sampling a heavy water plant effluent. Both monitors are simple to operate, calibrate, and maintain, but their accuracies are affected by oil and particulates in the sample. Lychnophora salicifolia Mart., which occurs in the Brazilian Cerrado in the states of Bahia and Minas Gerais as well as in the southeast of the state of Goiás, is the most widely distributed and also the most polymorphic species of the genus. This plant is popularly known to have anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities. In this work, we have studied the variation in terms of polar metabolites of ninety-three Lychnophora salicifolia Mart. specimens collected from different regions of the Brazilian Cerrado. Identification of the constituents of this mixture was carried out by analysis of the UV spectra and MS data after chromatographic separation. Twenty substances were identified, including chlorogenic acid derivatives, a flavonoid C-glucoside, and other sesquiterpenes. The analytical method was validated, and the reliability and credibility of the results was ensured for the purposes of this study. The concentration range required for analysis of content variability within the analyzed group of specimens was covered with appropriate values of limits of detection and quantitation, as well as satisfactory precision and recovery. A quantitative variability was observed among specimens collected from the same location, but on average they were similar from a chemical viewpoint. In relation to the study involving specimens from different locations, there were both qualitative and quantitative differences among plants collected from different regions of Brazil. Statistical analysis revealed that there is a correlation between geographical localization and polar metabolites profile for specimens collected from different locations. This is evidence that the pattern of metabolites concentration depends on the geographical distribution of the specimens. 相似文献
