Lithium chloride (LiCl) incorporated MCM-41 has been synthesised by sol-gel method using tetraethyl orthosilicate as a precursor in basic medium. 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 wt% of LiCl were incorporated in mesoporous silica to investigate the humidity sensing. With increasing wt% of LiCl broadening of O–H peak is observed in the Fourier Transform Infrared spectra, indicating greater adsorption of hydroxyl groups on porous silica. The surface area of the MCM-41 circular discs was determined by Brunauer?Emmett?Teller (BET). Scanning electron microscopy images suggest that incorporation of LiCl leads to coalescence of grains in mesoporous silica. 25 wt% LiCl incorporated MCM-41 showed a wide range linear response of impedance change for 11%–90% RH exhibiting 3.5-order drop in impedance at a 1 kHz frequency. The Nyquist plots for all compositions showed increased ionic conduction with increasing relative humidity. 相似文献

Bacterial resistance to antibiotics is emerging as amajor concern to the medical community. Theappearance of several antibiotic-resistant strains,including multidrug-resistant Staphylococcusaureus, raises the prospect that infections by thesebacteria could soon become untreatable with currentlyavailable antibiotics. In order to address thisproblem, increased emphasis is being placed on thediscovery of novel classes of antibacterial agentsthat inhibit novel molecular targets using sources ofcompounds not yet exploited for antibiotic drugdiscovery. Novel classes of compounds can now berapidly investigated using combinatorial chemistryapproaches. This report describes the identificationof novel antibacterial compounds from a combinatoriallibrary of N-acetylated, C-amidated D-amino acidhexapeptides. This library of compounds was screenedfor inhibitors of CheA, a member of the bacterialtwo-component signal transduction kinase family. Several peptides with apparent IC50 values in thelow micromolar range were identified. In addition toinhibiting CheA, these peptides inhibited mammalianprotein kinase C (from rat brain) with comparablepotency. The need for effective bioprocess (fermentation) monitoring is growing in importance due to the rapid pace of change in the fermentation industry, and attendant financial pressures. Vibrational spectroscopy has shown great promise in bioprocess monitoring. In particular, recently attention has been focused on the capability of mid infrared spectroscopy (MIRS) to monitor multiple analytes in highly complex fermentation fluids. The potential of this powerful analytical technique is critically evaluated by discussion of relevant studies. The advantages and limitations of MIR are discussed in the context of “rival” technologies, such as near infrared, focusing especially on employing such techniques in bioprocesses for real time (either in situ or ex situ) measurements. The potential barriers to the development of MIRS for real time monitoring are identified and further research directions highlighted. 相似文献
